Hard Knocks...again

I'm not sure how Mike and the Blackburns see this as a positive, but I'm glad they do. I loved the last one. One enduring scene from '09 - Lippincott is waiting as the players walk through an entrance somewhere, and it is understood by all that he's going to grab someone for a not good reason, like he's looking to get their playbook and show them the door. Chris Henry walks in, barely will look at the camera. But you could see him take a sidelong glance at Lippy. He looked like he was ready to run if Lippy made a move toward him. I just liked that scene, and I really miss Chris Henry.

One giant difference from the last - We'll get to see lots of inside shots of the Bengals' practice facility, locker room, and PBS. Last time we saw mostly Georgetown. No more off-site camp, so we'll get to see them all in the regular season type environment. Really looking forward to AJ Green, and hoping he is the good-humored guy I saw when my son and I were down in PBS last summer for one of the open scrimmages.

For those of you with cable that don't get HBO, like me: Last time I called the cable company and asked about HBO. They said I could order it, watch for a month, then cancel it. And that is exactly what I did. One month was like 12 bucks or something. Totally worth it.

As an aside: I heard Zimmer talking on Sirius yesterday. He said he was in no way consulted, that this decision was above his pay grade, and that he found out just like everyone else did. He said he doesn't care, that he knows how to turn the microphone off when he wants to, although he forgot to last time once and it ended up on the show. One minor concern - he fears people will see him in maniacal coaching mode screaming his head off and assume that is him as a person, and he wants people to know he is a regular acting person around his family or people who encounter him in public. He doesn't want to be known as a stereotypical screaming football coach.

Nice COB. I'm certainly looking to get HBO for that time period as well.

In regards to Zimmer, I think that's what I like so much about him. How he is at work is what gets the job done and then you leave that and go home.

When I was in the Army, my wife thought I was schizophrenic for real. When I was in uniform, I was the Sergeant. When I was home, I was Mark.

I was two very different people, but that is because that's what the job required.

I'm going to go way out on a limb and guess that it's about money. If my count is right they've had seven blackouts in the past two seasons, six in 2011 (would have been seven if they hadn't literally given tickets away) and one last year. And even though they did better in 2012, they had to cut ticket prices (and they are doing it again this season) and they still went down to the wire just about every week.

On top of that, the schedule isn't exactly packed with top draws. Sure, the Pitt game in week 2 will sell out (and PBS will be 50% Steeler fans) and assuming that neither team has gone completely down the toilet by December the week 14 game with the Colts will probably sell out. Maybe the Ravens. Packers and Pats probably but will take work. Vikings, Bills, Jets, and Browns are all blackout candidates.

So they are using HK to pump up the volume, try to generate some buzz and get tix moving. At least, that's my theory and I'm stickin' to it.

This is 100% about marketing this team, ie money.

No one will ever say SoP is a bad businessman. I have to tip the hat to the move having them back on HK. Selfishly, I like seeing my team up close and early. It is very revealing and I truly enjoy it.

How it works as a distraction, or deterrent in the team bonding, how intrusive it is in the locker room, I can't say. Harrison does not seem to like it much but we know he's a hard case. Here's hoping it proves not much of a distraction.

Is your son going to be playing on the team that runs the single wing offense again? Spinner series!

Do they play baseball differently than we do here in Ohio ??

:lmao:

What I meant by the first comment was that I couldn't open it.

It was blocked at work, but I saw it once I got home.

Anybody know if this will be aired on local TV in the Cincinnati area?

Or if there are internet feeds out there for this show. I'd like to see it "live" but we don't have HBO. And I don't want to watch clips on YouTube after its already aired.
