Best Mock Draft I have seen so far, I love this pick

Recommended Posts

I worked with Jay Gruden when he was with the Orlando Predators, and I am new to the board, but I have to say, I would love this pick. If we ended up with both Keenan Allen and AJ Green that would be huge. Sanu came into his own last year and we could be special. Gresham is a force and Dalton would have all the pieces around him to make that extra push.

I wouldn't hate it, wouldn't love it. Keenan Allen has been hurt and has his own day coming up on the 9th I think.

That should tell alot. He's not the playmaker Austin is.

Also, Gresham is a mystery.

While one might consider him a top 10 TE, I really don't think that says much.

He knew he was going to be the focus in the playoff game and must have developed a hairball right before kickoff.

Here's the latest mock draft from NFL.com. Joe Reedy is explaining the pick logic with some information about the Bengals offseason and their positions of need. I'd be ok with Elam at #21 as Reedy suggests.

Does anyone else but me despise Joe Reedy? At least Hobson is like a lost puppy. He's dumb but you can't dislike him.

Reedy, his negativity, his condesending approach, in fact his whole demeanor, and especially his voice just scream limp, flaccid penis.

He just seems like a miserable dude.

Talking about a pick I would love to see the Bengals make:

With the injury concern, he will be there in the 2nd and maybe the 3rd, but certainly no further.

I just have never been a fan of Cook and Robinson, while playing admirably last season, is far from this level.

Not only that, the versatility and intelligence of Jones is just crazy.

It's a nice write up and they even mention Cincinnati as teams that would provide a nice match.

If Arthur Brown has Zimmer's vote of confidence than here's a quick run down without explaination:

1. Brown

2. Bernard

2. Jones

3. Rambo

Man, I would sh*t myself...

I'm the opposite - I like Reedy, and cant stand Hobson and his "we only have twelve dollars and a bus token after factoring in blah blah blah left in cap dollars"

And his almost unbearable, pretentious, hokey writing style. I don't see much of a difference between Allen and Sanu, and can't imagine they still aren't high on Jones, it takes 2-3 seasons to solidify yourself at WR. Why not wait and see who you can get in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th round there? They still have Hawkins and Tate as well, for what that's worth. I don't know that any WR at #21 is good enough to make that sort of jump in this draft.

They shored-up all of their other positions in the off-season and will have 3 high picks to use on S and OT/G/C/LB. I hope they stay there.

I have come around to Arthur Brown as our first round pick but there is soem steam that he may go as high at 15 now, who the heck knows.

1 (21) Brown or Cyprien or Vaccaro or Sheldon Richardson if he drops (I personally would like a trade down to accumulate more picks in the 2 and 3rd.

2 (37) Lacy, Bernard, Franklin, Bell, or Brown or Sio Moore (provided we do not select Brown in the first)

2 (53) Barrett Jones, Schwenke, Frederick, if no RB at (37) a wild card maybe Latavius Murray RB from Central Florida

3 (84) If we don't take one of the Centers @ 53 then whichever is left or Khaled Holmes from USC (after Holmes the Center market dries up) if we take a Center @ 53 and we don't take a Safety in the first then Rambo, Swearinger, Phillip Thomas, or Earl Wolff...if we have our safety and running back and center already than LBer should be our target Sio Mooroe may still be available or Khaseem Greene, Chase Thomas, or Zavier Gooden would be good options.

4 (118) think this is when we start looking at WR. Da'Rick Rogers, Ryan Swope, Marquis Goodwin, Chris Harper (a personal favorite) or perhaps this is where we look at the Honey Badger

5 (156) I like Zac Dysert and Landry Jones here.

6 (190) Stevie Williams is a good choice here or perhaps B.W. Webb falls to this spot, I also like Brandon Kaufman the 6'5" receiver from Eastern Washington and David Bass the DE from Missouri Western, still alot of good talent this far into the draft.

6 (197) Robert Lester may be here and would be a good choice if we haven't already grabbed a Safety or perhaps John Simon may still be here if we haven't selected a LBer otherwise from here on out it is strictly BPA whoever falls from above.

There is a TON of talent in this draft but very few players who stand out as transcendant talents which make it very difficult to project. If I had my way.....and we get lucky.

2(37) Arthur Brown, Jr., OLB, Kansas State

2(41) (Buffalo) Johnathan Cyprien, S, Florida International -or- D.J. Swearinger, S, South Carolina if Cyprien is gone

2(53) Johnathan Franklin, RB, UCLA

3(71) (Buffalo) Barrett Jones, C/G/T, Alabama

3(84) Tyrann Mathieu, CB/KR/PR, x-LSU

4(118) Chris Harper, WR, Kansas State

5(156) Marcus Lattimore, RB, South Carolina (give him a redshirt year and prime him to take over for the Law Firm in two years)

6(190) David Bass, DE, Missouri Southern

6(197) Landry Jones, QB, Oklahoma

7(240) Brandon Kaufman, WR, Eastern Washington

7(251) Josh Boyd, DT, Mississippi State

Landry Jones in round 5? sign me up. He was terrific before his offensive coordinator took the Indiana HC job. worth a gamble that he could be terrific again after he leaves the replacement offensive staff at OK

at the least, I see 12 years' of holding clipboards, which is more than we usually get out of our late round QB picks.

Actually Shel Richardson is my favorite DT in this draft, watch his tape he is an absolute animal and a fiery competitor. I agree we do not need him and I don't think he will fall to us @ #21 anyway but if a talent like that comes to you, you take him regardless of need.

I dunno about that.....it is important to address need

If we had Manning as our QB (P, not E) with Tom Brady and Aaron Rogers as his backups, if the BPA is a QB, sorry, I dont take him

We are loaded at DT right now,and drafting another DT would send a bad signal to last year's 2 draftees that we have no confidence in them or something similar. Those two need a chance to show us what they got, a chance they probably wont get if you draft a DT at 21

The BPA strategy is always presumed to have limits. No team with those top tier QBs would draft another one in the first round.

I don't think it'd be terribly wrong for the Bengals to bolster a position of strength though. Recent Super Bowl winning teams really haven't been the sort with flawless rosters at every position group. Rather, they've had a couple very distinct strengths that carried them through playoff runs. The Bengals might be very well advised to just pump significant portions of their FA/draft mentality into the defensive line and whatever separate offensive strength we end up boasting.

And the QB is a unique situation, there is no other position where having a sub in a game can be so devestating to the outcome. DT's get worn out and having a rotation of front line guys is a way to keep a Defensive Line consistantly dominanting. Consider this, if Brandon Thompson and/or Devon Still don't cut the mustard (and they have shown us nothing as pros that they will) then where do you go?

Peko, Atkins, and ? that is your idea of a position that does not require an infusion of talent?

my idea of the position is that we should give the "redshirt" DT rookies their shot this year

I don't think we should draft a DT high and thereby send them the message that we have already lost confidence in them and/or are not going to give them their opportunity this year -- opportunity that they have waited a full year for.

With MJ very possibly leaving after this year, if there is a DL position I want to infuse with talent, it is DE, not DT
