Scottishbengal
reading between the lines then is Kirkpatricks injury a "season ender" bearing in mind comments on the board were that he wasn't expected to feature in the first half of the season anyways. ???can't imagine Halls recovery is not as good as the many many soundbites coming out of the Bengals over the past months
bwillycuse
Is this new?Prater done. Prater done for season - Knee
Stripes
Bummer, I was hoping he could be a special teams machine.
volcom69
Man CBs just keep dropping. Makes me wonder if they will look to any up after cuts are made
ArmyBengal
Honestly, I didn't expect Prater to be anything more than the practice squad this season so while i'm sympathetic to his situation and hope he's doing well, I don't think it impacts our situation all that much. derekshank
The CB situation does seem a little dire... but I think it only seems that way. I don't think it's that bad at all.http://www.cincyjungle.com/2012/8/5/3221414/the-infirmary-looking-at-cincinnati-bengals-cornerbacks-and-their is Kirkendall's write up on the CB injury situation. Here's my take:Losing Ghee is the biggest bummer. It seemed like he was coming on - and perhaps ready to step into a starting position if necessary. Now, it seems like IR is more likely.Kirkpatrick should be ready for the regular season, and he wasn't being counted on to be a starter right away. Hopefully this won't set him back too much and he'll be available when the veterans are inevitably nursing bumps and bruises throughout the season.Prater was probably not going to make the roster anyway. You could argue that this is the best thing that could have happened to him. He'll have a year to learn the defense and be ready to compete for a job next year when Clements, Newman, and possibly Jones are no longer around.Jones and Allen are both currently sitting - but the injuries are minor. They should return early next week. Additionally... Hall, Clements, and Newman are all appear to be full-go... which means that the Bengals have 5 veteran CBs that are good to go. Unless one of those guys sustains a serious injury/setback, I'm not doing any hand wringing just yet.
Stripes
Yeah I'm not terribly worried about it yet. So long as the foursome of Hall, Clements, Allen, and Jones is healthy, the Bengals should be fine.
kingwilly
Put me in the camp that is ready to be very concerned. If it was only KirkP with a minor injury, no biggie.THat there are many injuries, with a few being serius/season ending, well crap! They need to grab a solid, healthy guy. The only CB who's been in every practice is a UDFA???? My finger nears the panic button.
derekshank
That there are many injuries, with a few being serius/season ending, well crap!Serious/season ending... for Ghee and Prater. Two players who most didn't think could make the team a month ago. Losing Ghee is an admitted bummer because it seemed like he was coming on, but it's not as if the Bengals are losing a key starter. The only CB who's been in every practice is a UDFA???? My finger nears the panic button.Who cares that they haven't been at every practice? Newman and Hall were both given a day off just so they could rest. Practicing every day is clearly not at the top of Zimmer's priority list. Do you really think Clements, Newman, Jones, Allen, or Hall need to be at every practice at this stage in their careers? Clements is healthy now. Allen and Jones are going to come back on Tuesday from minor injuries that they would be able to play through if this were the regular season. No panic button necessary. HoosierCat
The trouble is, Clements was fading at the end of last season and Hall is nowhere near 100%. Corner will be a position with injury issues again this season. The only question that remains is, how bad?
derekshank
Hall is nowhere near 100%. Says who?He is certainly rusty... and has admitted that. He needs to get back in the swing of things because he's been away from football for 8+ months... but he's got 5+ weeks to do just that. There hasn't been the slightest concern that he has any lingering issues with the injury... so I'm unconcerned. ArmyBengal
Can't believe people are worrying due to 2 players probably not making the roster.Ghee coming on ?? Sure, isn't every player "coming on" in camp ??Isn't it the time of the year when every player is showing promise ??How many players are on the cusp of a breakout season before a preseason game has been played ??Take a breath and relax... HoosierCat
Hall is nowhere near 100%. Says who?John Thornton, for one. After watching Hall in practice, he said he thought it would take half a season for him to round back into form.
Sea Ray
Serious/season ending... for Ghee and Prater. Two players who most didn't think could make the team a month ago. Losing Ghee is an admitted bummer because it seemed like he was coming on, but it's not as if the Bengals are losing a key starter. Is this just speculation on your part or do you know something other than what's been reported, cause what's been reported to this point is that Ghee will only be out for the preseasonIt was just a few days ago that the talk around here was that Shipley would be out for the entire summer, PUP'd and possibly cut
HoosierCat
Ghee has a dislocated wrist. From what I can tell, at the very best he's gone until October-ish. How are wrist dislocations treated? The milder wrist dislocations are treated by being lightly pushed into healing position and then perhaps placed in a plastic constraint. More severe wrist dislocations may be put into a cast for a time.Severe Wrist dislocations will be treated with surgery. It takes six to eight weeks for a wrist dislocation to heal and an additional few weeks to get back to playing form.It is important to understand that not getting proper treatment for a wrist dislocation may result in permanent damage and once having suffered a wrist dislocation you are more prone to the possibility of having one./>http://sports.yahoo.com/top/news?slug=ycn-8089200

I never said his injury was "season ending" but he will be out for quite a while - which damages seriously his chances of making the team. It was just a few days ago that the talk around here was that Shipley would be out for the entire summer, PUP'd and possibly cutThat's still the talk as far as I'm concerned. The way Gruden is talking about him, he is far from a lock to make the team.

derekshank
Dre Kirkpatrick has officially been cleared to practice.Hopefully he'll be able to get some extended playing time in the next two preseason games to get his feet wet. volcom69
Great news hope he learns the system fast, and is now 100 percent better. Now how about Jason Allen hes the other one i really want to see? I would love to see all the corners out there playing, that way they can choose the best guys out there to play.

And Zimmer isn't one to blow smoke. He's always been willing to publicly insult his own team when he isn't happy with them - so I have to trust him when he says he's happy with this secondary.
