Are you all for Mallet coming here

I don't want to see this dude anywhere near PBS.

Me either trust me, im not a huge fan of any QB coming out this year. I think they need to get a Vet to come in here and run the show for a couple of years. Ill take someone like McNabb,Seneca Wallace, somebody who can run a WCO for a couple of years, and draft a QB next season.

First thing is first get rid of Palmer, for draft picks

nor do i, you can also add cam(my daddy got paid)newton.

That's where we part paths. I have lots of love for Cam Newton. I doubt he'll end up here though.

So what's Carson-lite gonna do when his bro leaves town?

Start, of course, while Mallett spends the year in rehab learning the offense.

Are you all for Mallet coming here, or are you joking around???? Can never tell with you

Half and half. I do think Mallett is the best QB in the draft on pure talent. That's not saying he's the best eva or anything, just the best of a weak field. The character questions mean I really don't want to see him any earlier than the third round but yeah, if he's there I roll the dice. If the Bengals can finagle an extra pick in the first couple rounds, by trading Chad for example or trading down from 4, I would be OK with rolling the dice a bit earlier.

Outside of Mallett there's no QB in the draft who interests me a bit.

Hobson dropped this nugget in a roundup piece late last night.

It's believed the Bengals are taking Carson Palmer's threat to be traded or retire quite seriously and that they are kicking the tires on all kinds of options. They want Palmer to return and believe he is their best chance to win, but everyone is also expecting them to take a close look at the top quarterbacks at the combine.

Palmer's agent talked to a radio station in Seattle. He didn't say much, but he also didn't say Mike Brown was being a jackass who wouldn't listen to reason. The last sentence below was the most indicative of anything. Just to hear him say that something was "resolved" in Carson's mind was encouraging.

Carson Palmer's agent told Seattle radio station KJR that he would be surprised if the quarterback returns to the Bengals.

"I think he's at peace with the meeting that he had with the owner, where he expressed some things about his desires to go a different direction in his career," David Dunn said. "That's between them, and I don't want to get into that a heck of a lot, but I think he's really at peace with that meeting and how it was resolved in his mind."

Translation: He had his say and it's up to MB where he goes. Sounds to me like he's not going to change his mind and is just as happy to retire as he would be being traded. Let's hope MB gets an overwhelming offer for him or he's done

If that is true - I just keep coming back to why would any team want to employ someone who could take it or leave it.

I really doubt that is how Palmer is at the moment. If he is, then, good luck to whatever team he may go to. Because at the end of the day - win or lose - Its not that big of a deal to the guy.

Im starting to slowly forget about the QB we had last year.

A poster over on the official board summarized some remarks by TJ on Sirius yesterday:

TJ was interviewed by Solomon Wilcots on Sirius radio about an hour ago. When asked his view of the Carson situation, he responded that Carson is dead serious. He consistently mentioned that Carson wants to win above anything else. He mentioned he was able to watch 7 Bengals games this past season, and reminded the listeners that he knows every route for every play and position in our recently departed scheme. He then pointed out that Carson consistently threw the ball to the spot where the receiver was supposed to be, following that up with remarks that Carson always took the blame for incompletions and refused to ever throw anyone under the bus.

While TJ's comments led me to believe the biggest problem was 85 and 81, his belief is that things are way past the point of no return and that it would be in the best interest of the club to trade him rather than being left empty handed.

It's absolutely stupid for the Bengals to not get something for Carson, but you can't let him go for nothing either.

What sense does it make to trade him for a 3rd ?? F*ck that. If Mike Brown doesn't get what he and many like myself feel he should, don't do it.

If they can trade him in conjunction getting another QB, draft picks, or combination then fine, but you can't let him go for nothing.

I still think having a new scheme with Gruden and AJ Green would help Carson greatly.

Chad and TO were HUGE parts of the problem.

As for paying Chad to play somewhere else, if the Bengals can get that 2nd rounder being thrown around as compensation, I think it makes moving him much easier to swallow. Honestly though, I would pay Chad that much money to simply leave. His absence from this team would change a lot in terms of seeing the team turn the corner and allowing Carson to take the reigns.

That dickface has been the face of this franchise long enough. Please Mike Brown, take off the clownshoes already.

Prime Time says it's time for Carson to quit crying and play football

http://cincinnati.co...s-in-on-palmer/

Said Primetime of Palmer: "You are a franchise quarterback. You can't say I want to leave. Wipe your eyes off and play football. The Brown (family) doesn't cave. You're not going to bully those guys by any means."

That is more than laughable. Carson is the last player in the league who would try to bully anyone.

I agree. I'm all for trading Palmer assuming we get value back but I'm not interested in trading him for a draft pick that turns into the next Madieu Williams. If that's all we can get for him I'd just as soon have the satisfaction of seeing him sit in southern California

If Palmer wants to leave because TO wasn't in the right spots for Palmer to throw to every time,(Palmer isn't that accurate anymore BTW) then Palmer shouldn't have vouched for him and brought TO in.

The TJ thing saying Palmer always hits his spots is ridiculous. Im half tempted to pull up all his INT's this year and find out whose fault they were. And AGAIN!!!!! Shipley and Gresham both had more Int's thrown their way than Chad. TO had by far the most - the guy Palmer brought in.

So, It was Shipley's and Gresham's and TO's fault he had so many INT's. Why is it always just 81 and 85's fault here? There is plenty of blame to go around, but 81 and 85 didn't ruin the season for the Bengals. Heck - I think Benson had more fumbles than Chad had ints thrown to him.

Carson wants to win above all else? Trade me or I retire means that is a lie.

Lewis says they are playing it like Palmer is gone. Also: Lewis dines with Dunn.

Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said Friday here at the NFL Scouting Combine that the club is proceeding as if it won't have Carson Palmer at quarterback in 2011.

Lewis said he has talked to Palmer since Palmer requested a trade and it has been reported that he'll retire if it's not granted.

"All I know is what I've been told," Lewis said.

Palmer's agent, David Dunn, in town for the NFL agents' annual meeting, was seen sitting with Lewis Thursday night at a downtown restaurant. But as Dunn left he had no comment, as he has since last month's statement in which his client called for a separation from the Bengals.

The Bengals also seem to be sticking to their plans not to trade Palmer with four years left on his deal. But that doesn't seem to be stopping them from interviewing the top quarterback prospects Thursday and Friday.

Just stumbled across this today, an espn radio interview with Palmer Jr. from about 2 weeks ago.

Definitely worth a listen. Not much insight on Palmer Sr. directly but he does talk a little about how banged-up Carson was this year. I recall Carson having several injury issues in the second half of the year -- foot, hip, shoulder, etc. -- but Jr. says there were multiple weeks when he took all the reps in practice and didn't start only because Carson managed to pull it together the Saturday before the game. Jr. says straight out that Carson doesn't really tell anyone just how badly he's hurting.

From skunk-hair's MMQB column this a.m.

8. I think the Bengals are doing their due diligence on the quarterback position, which tells me they might grant Carson Palmer his wish to be traded when the NFL finally gets a labor deal done. Talking to one Bengals official over the weekend, I was surprised to hear that whenever trades are allowed after the signing of a new CBA, the team will listen to offers for Palmer.

If they don't take a QB at four you can lock one in at 35...
