Bengals sign DE Adeyanju, Fanene to IR

CINCINNATI (AP) -The Cincinnati Bengals have signed fifth-year NFL defensive end Victor Adeyanju (Ah-DAY'-ahn-joo) and put Jonathan Fanene (Fuh-NAY'-nay) on injured reserve.

Fanene hasn't played since suffering a hamstring injury Oct. 24 at Atlanta, and saw only limited action earlier because of hamstring problems. He played in every 2009 game for the Bengals.

Adeyanju was released Sept. 4 by the St. Louis Rams. A fourth-round draft pick from Indiana University, he played four seasons for the Rams, with 26 starts. He had three sacks, four fumble recoveries and an 89-yard fumble return for a touchdown.

No big incentive for him to sign since he's guaranteed his Steeler salary anyway. What a lazy butt. I'd heard folks talking about him like he's a head case. I'm just as glad he's not a Bengal.

Although former Steelers kicker Jeff Reed decided not to play this weekend, it's believed he's still in the mix for a visit to Paul Brown Stadium, maybe even before the Bengals leave to play the Jets. His agent has said talks with interested teams could be re-visited Sunday and Monday...

Isn't it funny how his effort apparently improved at the same time injuries forced the Bengals to play him? Besides, Dunlaps practice habits were well reported...as was his outstanding and consistent production in games against top competition. Furthermore, he played very well in preseason and he's played just as well recently when finally given a chance to play. He's not the problem.

Point blank, the two most explosive pass rushers on the Bengals roster were sitting down due to a coaches decision when it mattered most, and IMHO that's impossible to justify when the miserable seasons of Odom and Fanene are considered.

They've both basically been MIA all season for various reasons.

I hope these young guys stay hungry during the offseason and they dump Odom, Fanene and Geathers. I am just not seeing it out of that guy and the other two. Very disappointing since he got the big contract.

Added DE Antwan Odom to the roster from the exempt list. Odom returned to the team last week on a roster exemption, after completing a four-week NFL suspension for violation of league policy on performance enhancing substitutes. Odom has played in four games this season, with three starts, and has eight tackles with a pass defensed.

Signed free agent CB Jonathan Wade, a fourth-year NFL player. Wade (5-11, 200; Tennessee) played in Detroit''s first eight games this season, with four starts, and had 26 tackles with three passes defensed and a fumble recovery. He was released by the Lions on Nov. 10. He was a third-round draft choice of St. Louis in 2007 and played from 2007-09 for the Rams, seeing action in 47 games with six starts and logging 47 tackles with two INTs and seven passes defensed. He was signed by the Lions as a free agent on March 9 of this year.

Placed S Chris Crocker on the Reserve/Injured list. Crocker suffered a knee injury (torn ACL) in yesterday's game against Buffalo. He started nine games at FS and had 42 tackles, including two sacks. He had six passes defensed and two forced fumbles.

Placed DE Frostee Rucker on the Reserve/Injured list. Rucker played in this season's first nine games, with three starts, but he suffered a knee injury in Game 9, Nov. 14 at Indianapolis. He closes his season with 20 tackles, including a sack, and one pass defensed.

Also, the scoreboard put his picture, name and number up while he was down on the field getting attended to. Naturally, Mike's grand nephew once removed or whoever the hell it was spelled Crocker's name "Cocker", and they left it up there for like two minutes. f**king Bengals.

The Bengals on Tuesday signed free agent cornerback Fred Bennett and placed defensive tackle Tank Johnson on the Reserve/Injured list.

Bennett, a fourth-year NFL player, played in Games 1-4 of this season for San Diego, with one tackle on defense and one tackle on special teams. He was released by the Chargers on Oct. 11. He opened the preseason with Houston and was waived on Aug. 30. He was a fourth-round draft choice of Houston in 2007 and played in 40 games for the Texans from 2007-09, with 123 tackles, five INTs and 21 passes defensed.

Johnson has been sidelined since suffering a knee injury on Oct. 31 vs. Miami. He started this season’s first seven games, logging 12 tackles.

Stitser has signed his first NFL contracts in 2010. He played from 2004-07 at Fresno State, making 37 of 52 FG attempts (71.2 percent) and scoring 223 points.

Signed FB James Develin, a rookie from Brown. Develin (6-2, 260) today signed his first NFL contract. Earlier this year, he was with Florida of the United Football League.

Released rookie FB Joe Tronzo of Louisville. Tronzo played in all five Bengals preseason games and was on the practice squad for Games 1-11.
