HoosierCat
I just feel right now this team has no idea how to win a football game. Can we keep the melodrama to a minimum? (I know, talking about a team with Chad, it's tough.) Monday night's loss had nothing to do with not having an idea how to win a game and everything to do with a special teams meltdown of cosmic proportions. If teams don't turn the ball over four frikkin' times -- fumble, blocked punt, twice on downs on missed FGs -- we're all in Day 2 of our Stunning Upset Victory Celebration. What???? How do you win football games, by not turning the ball over, by not hurting yourself while driving down the field or having a meltdown on the field. By actully blocking the person you are supposed to during a punt block, by catching the football, by running the right routes. All of these things i mentioned are how to win football games, and from what i have seen this team has not done this stuff very consistant this year. So i feel this is why the team has been losing. What part of "Monday night's loss" didn't you understand? Neither the O nor the D had much trouble figuring out the path to a win two nights ago. They played well enough to win. The problem was special teams continually crapping the bed.Hurting themselves driving down the field didn't lose the game. Having a meltdown didn't lose the game.Bernard Scott, Mike Nugent, and the line charged with blocking for Huber lost the game.

It just seems like they cant help but make the mental mistakes during games that lose it for them. They make a mistake they have a hard time overcoming it, and it ends up costing them the game. As far as Monday nights loss yes i agree with what you are saying. They still need to figure out though how to put a complete game togther for 4 quarters. Not arguing with what your saying though. jjakq27
Couldn't agree more about Chad, he needs to go, ASAP. He's been nothing but a negative taint on that team since the end of 2005.I'm guessing Marvin would be ok with that, but the man (idiot) upstairs won't have it.from Lance's BlogLet's be honest...it's time to move onThe more I think about this the more sense it makes. The Bengals should just release Chad Johnson. After Monday night what's the point of keeping him around? From the gold shoes to his temper tantrum to the penalty Monday night, Chad's actions embarrassed himself, his QB, his coach and his team. Not the first time. Won't be the last time.Would the Patriots keep Chad around if he continually acted that way towards Tom Brady? How about the Colts if Chad acted that way towards Peyton Manning?Marvin allowed the horse out of the barn when he turned a blind eye to Chad's antics years ago.Marvin can't get the horse back in the barn. The Bengals can finally close the door behind him. There will never be the needed trust and respect factor between Chad and Carson. So lift the burden from the shoulders of the franchise QB. Stop the silliness. Chad has become a caricature of himself. He's not a WR. He's a sideshow. A clown act that is only missing the red nose and big shoes. There isn't any "team" in Chad. There hasn't been in a number of years. Instead of being happy to draw a double team and help the passing game this season, he's made it a negative and all about him. He lost his passion for football a couple of years ago. Since then he's been preparing for his next career. Help him find his life's work. From Ochocinco to Unemployed-O.The Bengals are 2-6 with him. Can they really be any worse without him? They've won the same number of playoffs games with him at WR as they did with Michael Westbrook and James Hundon. That number would zero. I can't be the only one that has grown weary of the act that's become all talk, little production. He doesn't give a damn unless the play is designed for him. He never blocks. He runs the route at the distance he feels like....and has hard as he feels like. So just do it.... cut him. Do it for the rest of the team.....for Carson....for Whit. Do it for everyone that will be a part of the Bengals in 2011. Does anyone see a scenario where the Bengals pick up Chad's 6-million dollar option? Why? Hell, give the playing time to Jerome Simpson and finally make a decision on him in the last 8 weeks. I always like to ask, what's the downside? What's the downside to releasing Chad? The Bengals finish 2-14? T.O. gets upset? T.O.'s not coming back in 2011 anyway. I have no idea what it would cost the Bengals to release Chad. I don't care. Turn the page. Wipe the slate clean. It was fun for a while. These days it's just aggravating. So child please. Kiss the baby....goodbye. Go. Away. My head hurts.

Or if Mike absolutely can't bear to cut him, Marvin should just sit him down and distribute those playing minutes in a way that will help this team in the future. BengalszoneBilly
Wow! The glass is half full huh?We are just south of mediocre, fellas...let's be realistic. The emperor has no clothes.Damian pretty much called it. The team can't run the ball. Palmer throws more INT's than TD's. The defense is spotty at best. Just a poorly coached football team.
ShulaSteakhouse
I guess you need to separate from TO And Chad this off-season. But I'd just cut T.O. for his poor attitude on the field and lack of effort at inopportune times in particular. Awesome last week, week before and this week, he might've cost them the games, giving up on at least two key passes and taking forever to get back to the LOS/huddle. He played well most of the season with the exception of a couple of "effort" plays. But today was sad. Maybe he is playing like a 37 year old and is tired after a short week. Dont need that next year as much as I was hoping they might sign him. Both guys gotta go. Time to get back to basics with some fresh faces.. Time to get back to basics with some fresh faces..It's just like a sour Carl Pickens running the circus back in the 90's, he who held "don't listen to the coaches day" practices once a week, and was moody and inconsistent on the field after years of being Bengalized by Mike Brown's operation. At what point does this organization change in that regard? It has everything to do with Mike Brown's ego controlling his head coach and subordinates, from removing players that undermine their authority and affecting team morale and other players. There simply has to be a break from this mentality, and a high level attitude towards good, sound, smart players that care about winning, and giving a head coach the sway he needs in the locker room on personnel and resources to get his job done.Until that happens, we'll continue to wait for that elusive playoff win/game, at least, and endure these ridiculous, under-achieving seasons with embarrassing results. The only other way to force change is to not buy tickets for games, that simple. It worked when Marvin was hired. Time to do it again I suppose, not much else one can do as a fan. bwillycuse
None of the receivers on this team will catch the passes that Chad did yesterday.TO is weak and scared at WR. Wow, I kind of feel bad for him. He was flinching and the safety was like 6 feet away.Im fine with both these guys being gone. But lets not fool ourselves. We don't have a WR on this team that will catch more than 40 balls other than Shipley, but he is a slot receiver and wont be having any open space in the middle with Simpson and Caldwell doing nothing.Maybe we can get Moss and Burress. Maybe Braylon. This team will be at the basement again fellas. Its rebuilding time yet again.

F*ck Chad. They're weak minded and don't represent the majority.99% of the players who have been members of the Bengals didn't become "Bengalized" by quitting on the field and becoming locker room cancers. There have been plenty of whiny bitches in the NFL. Randy Moss, Keyshawn Johnson, and Brandon Marshall all found ways to be kicked off teams... and no one attempted to blame ownership for those doucebags.Mike Brown isn't anyone's favorite person... but his willingness to give these a**h***s 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chances is no reason to blame him for their meltdowns. They are weak. They are pu**ies. They are quitters. That comes from within the a**h*** who quits, not from the owner... because the vast majority of people who played for the Bengals didn't/don't behave that way. Chad and Pickens are personally responsibility for their own lack of professionalism. Any one who places blame elsewhere immediately loses credibility with me. Chad made the kind of catches you should expect from someone receiving elite WR compensation? The only reason it's notable is because we all know that he's no longer elite. I still dont trust Chad though, and still would like both diva WR gone after the season, and move forward throught the draft, and free agent. Antonio Bryant is making a lot more this year with much less production.I thought some of those catches were quite amazing though. My point is that we don't have any WRs on this team once TO and Chad are gone. Hopefully some free agents become available or like Hair loves so much, more wrs in next years draft.Td- The long bomb to TO to the right side where TO realy didnt try for it because there was a safety coming up. There was a close up on the play and TO's eyes were directly on the safety and he looked scared. The announcers said the sun was in his eyes, but he truly looked scared. And it wasn't even a big hit opportunity.

Antonio Bryant is making a lot more this year with much less production.Antonio Bryant was cut... just like Chad ought to be. And compensation was brought up because Chad is being paid to perform as a #1 WR. And I can count the number of times he's done that this season on one finger. My point is that we don't have any WRs on this team once TO and Chad are gone. Hopefully some free agents become available or like Hair loves so much, more wrs in next years draft. You might be right... but we don't know the answer to that question for sure, do we? Because big money is being spent on over the hill prima donna WRs. And with the exception of Shipley, none of the young WRs are being given the opportunity to prove if they can perform the roles that Chad and TO perform (when they aren't pouting or quitting). Sadly, it comes one week after a nationally televised temper tantrum on MNF. Poop.
