The Cincinnati Bengals will bring in center Justin Hartwig, wide receiver/return specialist Dexter Jackson and fullback Owen Schmitt for visits this week, league sources said Monday.

Hartwig was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 4 after they were unable to pin down a trade partner.

schmidt is an eagle so hes not visting. Maybe instead they will bring in Jason David, the guy from the jets!

Hartwig ill take him, great backup and right now ill take him to start over Livings. He knows how to play in the afc north

Why another WR? They should be looking at any defense linemen that know how to rush the passer. I think thats in need right now!

Why don't the Bengals trade for Haynesworth? I heard they are asking for a 4th round pick.

I don't think that's accurate. The Titans are said to have offered a 4th rounder, but the Redskins are said to be adamant about getting at least a 2nd rounder.

Still I would do it. Hell I would trade a 1st rounder. Throw in Andre Smith, Keith Rivers and call it a deal

Why not add Carson, Benson, Maualuga, and Leon Hall? Seriously I wouldn't touch Haynesworth at this point. I wouldn't want his bad attitude to rub off on some of our young D-Lineman.

The difference between Ghiacuic and Hartwig isn't as great as many would lead you to believe.

Yeah, I know. I just wonder what more they felt they needed to see.

IMHO the real eye opener is the throwaway line about the Bengals also working out three more WR's. Maybe they're considering an all WR practice squad?

My bet is that it's about Caldwell. He barely played in preseason and was inactive last week with a groin injury. If it's serious (see Perry, Chris) he could be headed to IR.

If that turns out to be the case I'm going to be a tad annoyed that they didn't waive/injured Caldwell during final cuts and keep Brisco...

Isn't Max Jean-Gilles available?

Ghuisuck? I'm going to pretend I did not hear this.

Also, shouldn't this team be spending time game-planning for Baltimore instead of holding tryouts for a UFL team?

The basic improvement at LG is already on the roster - Evan Mathis.

How healthy he is, I'd guess. And under the circumstances I think a quick pulse check in regards to any future working relationship might be in order.

Eventually the time comes for every Bengal fan to hate absolutely everything about the drafting of Dez Briscoe.

Gawd help us...they actually brought Eric Ghiacuic in, too.

When he was walking into the facility, the equipment managers carrying towels to the laundry accidentally knocked him down and trampled him.

According to study completed in 2000 the Cincinnati Bengals have the worst equipment managers in the entire NFL. Furthermore, my sources tell me that the trampling was caused by an overworked equipment manager dropping and then tripping on one of the undersized towels Mike Brown provides. In short, a totally preventable accident, and one that wouldn't happen in Miami or other large urban cities.

Harrumph!

The Bengals have announced that Ghiacuic's funeral will be at 2PM on Friday.

The Bengals also say there's a 50% chance he'll still be signed.

A first, Andre Smith, and Keith Rivers in exchange for Haynesworth? You must have ridden the short bus to G.M. school.

Well we are talking about the Washington Redskins here

Nah -- when we are taking about the short bus, we are talking about you

9/15/10: Ghiaciuc, Hartwig in for tryouts

Posted by jreedy September 15th, 2010, 9:54 am

There are some names that we see on a tryout list and think nothing of, and then there is the one name that raises eyebrows.

As expected the Bengals did work out Justin Hartwig on Tuesday but per National Football Post, they also tried out former Bengal Eric Ghiacuic, who has bounced around since not being brought back last year. Since departing Cincinnati, he has been in Cleveland, Kansas City and New England.

Some might remember last year Ghiaciuc calling Chad Ochocinco a distraction and saying the following:

“As much as you try to focus on football with your day-to-day routine of meetings, lifting, walkthroughs, practices, games, you can focus but it’s still there. It’s like when you turn your head, it’s still behind you. I think we were doing our best to focus on what needed to be focused on in our profession, but it was there and it was a bit of a problem.”

Ochocinco then responded with one of his best able to publish lines of the season: “Tell Ghiaciuc his play was a distraction. Of all the people to call me that.”

Besides trying out receiver Dexter Jackson, which was previously reported, the Bengals also tried out receivers Eron Riley, London Crawford and Kole Heckendorf.
