membengal
Surely glad they didn't cut Rucker as many were wanting them to do.

Wraith
Interesting, wonder what he tested positive for.At least this year we have more behind him, the suspension likely will not be handed down this week, so do you play him this week or do you start on of the other guys. Kazkal
I loved Odom because to me he was a Justin Smith type end...But truthfully if we only lose him for 4 games I wouldn't fret too much Fanene Has been out playing both him & Geathers IMO and will give more chance for the younger more passrusher type guys a chance to get on the field. membengal
oh crapReally?Oh crap?I am not exactly having that reaction because the Odom I saw in camp sure didn't look like the one that we saw before he tore his achilles. Whether it was the mysterious illness or what not that robbed him of his strength, I don't mind him taking four weeks to get over the issue, myself. HoosierCat
you > me by secondsIt happens. Ask mem Sucks but Odom wasn't exactly knocking 'em dead in the preseason.
derekshank
It'll give him 4 more weeks to add back the weight and strength he is lacking, and would have been fighting through all season.I don't expect him to have a pro-bowl caliber season regardless... and the talent of the depth is the best I've seen in years. His absence (if served) will barely be noticeable.

volcom69
The pass rush scared me going into the season, because Odom looked like crap he was getting no push at all. This does suck, but in my opinion Rucker and Fanene are better DEs then the starters are. Im still very worried about the pass rush considering the first string didnt even have a sack all preseason! DC_Bengals_Fan
Somebody on this board called the shot on Odom and 'roids, can't remember who. Disappointing, but not the end of the world; he's been a non-factor so far anyway.
BengalPimp
Cool, he gets another month to rehab his injury. More Fanene and Rucker....but don't be surprised if Michael Johnson gets some DE snaps too not just at LB....I'm not too bummed, Odom wasn't himself in preseason anyway, and I don't think he has fully recovered. He's shown he's good enough to get on the field, but he's clearly not 100%. Sounds bad, but I'm glad it was 4 game suspension, rather than another season ending injury.Michael Johnson for "Most Improved Player"
redsbengalsbucks
Maybe Odom never was that good, if he was on the juice. He sure hasnt looked very good this year so far. This sucks, I hate cheating players more than I like watching winning games.
volcom69
I hope this means we get to see more of Dunlap i wanna see him come on strong this season. So with Odom out, lets see Dunlap rotate in the games.
Stripes
Just enough time for him to lose his starting job.

alleycat
He could have been taking something to try to heal from his injury. Let's face it, he came back from that thing pretty darn fast...
Stripes
He could have been taking something to try to heal from his injury. Let's face it, he came back from that thing pretty darn fast...I'd say that's the most likely thing, from my standpoint of knowing mostly nothing. It'd be very easy to look back to his 2009 performance and assume the roids were behind the production, but he really only had two big games (Denver, Green Bay). jjakq27
He could have been taking something to try to heal from his injury. Let's face it, he came back from that thing pretty darn fast...I was thinking the same thing. But I wonder if it was something from the team physicians. Not sure how that works with the league. It may not seem to be a big deal because he wasn't really playing up to his pre-injury form but it's the old "it's always something with these guys" routine. Problem is it usually has happened by now, not three days before the start of the season.
HairOnFire
Just enough time for him to lose his starting job. Perhaps. He's been improving but still remains pretty ineffective. I agree with, well....everyone that four more weeks to improve his conditioning could be a good thing. And it's likely he'll be able to put on weight more quickly if inactive. Then again there's only so much lipstick you can put on a pig before it begins to look ridiculous. The depth at DE is good right now, Dunlap has looked the part, and I agree that moving MJ around could be very productive, and was probably already being planned for. Plus, Odom's absence will be felt just as much inside at DT... creating additional playing opportunities for Geno Atkins. Still....
