It taking them a few days to get a contract done on a player that has been slotted since yesterday is absolutely ridiculous.

Then again, I don't know how hard it is to run an NFL football team.

#20 got a 5 year deal worth 13.10 million and 10.35 million guaranteed

#22 got a 5 year deal worth 12.15 million and 9.35 million guaranteed

With that being the case, lets call it a 5 year deal worth 12.60 million and 9.85 million guaranteed.

Work out the incentives in the contract and make it happen.

Yep, that's more like it:

With Jermaine Gresham slotted at No. 21 in the first round, there was some buzz after Sunday’s practice that the Bengals were hoping they could get something done in the next 24 hours and get him to Georgetown College in time for Monday’s 7 p.m. practice.

Hobs adds a note that Gresham hasn't been sitting around...

It sounds like Gresham has been grinding it. At least according to what his quarterback at Oklahoma said recently. Sam Bradford told the St. Louis media, “Our tight end Jermaine Gresham was back in Norman, so we got together literally about every day and if he couldn’t be there I would just grab either some freshman wide receivers at OU or some managers and just make sure I had someone to throw to.”

Per Reedy and Hobson tweets just now, Gresham listed at #1 on the TE depth chart still, so I am guessing they expect him in soon. Also further clue as to how good he must have looked in OTAs...

If Gresham wasn't listed as the #1, I actually would have been surprised. Kelly coming back from injury, Coffman coming back from injury and unproven, Coats, er, well, he f*ckin' sucks. Anyway around, I think everyone is expecting a pretty big year from Gresham and I think he becomes a life saver for Carson...

In past years, the Bengals have knocked holdouts down to #2 on the depth charts at this point in the pre-season. I am hoping that this means he is close to signing. And, yes, the others are coming off injury, but they are also here.

This is where I go nuts every year. You put a contract together and the parties involved can't figure out the above figure?

Not anymore he is now last on the depth chart. This is getting annoying just get the deal done already.

...Meanwhile, Katie Blackburn refuses to budge on her insistence to pay Gresham in pesos. "Pesos are legitimate currency, Mr. Dogra. And we have a lot of them after sales of Ochocinco jerseys skyrocketed south of the border. It's a lot of money, Ben, and we don't have that many dollars just sitting around Paul Brown Stadium in August."

In other news, the Bengals' resident Capologist - a CAPE dropout who may or may not have an outstanding warrant - is trying to figure out how the peso's exchange rate will affect the salary cap in the event of a new CBA.

Sure they are here, but when Gresham gets done, I simply don't see him as anything less than the #1 from jump. He will have plenty of time to get snaps with 5 preseason games and I would find it VERY hard to he's not the #1 TE when most are still calling Coffman a bust and Kelly's biggest asset to the team is as a "mentor" to Gresham.

It's not the biggest thing by any stretch and like I said in another post, when he gets in, no one will be complaining.
