Kazkal
I would like to seeLT- Andre SmithLG-Anthony CollinsC--John LuigsRG-Bobbie WilliamsRT-Andrew WhitworthWhitworth seems much more like a RT to me, he is built like a RT and not a G .Collins is seems much better suited to play Guard than Whit does.If Collins could be a good guard I'd be more then fine with that setup.PS,God I hope chatman isn't number 6# give me a young guy who can be a surprise vs the old guy who you know is broken and even when healthy has been below avg. jrandom42
Watching the feed I just like the Presence Maualuga gives just feel like that man is going to be a badass o_O...Question about M.Johnson playing SLB has there been a Good to Great LB who stands 6'7? Because I wonder if they'll have Maualuga start at SLB learn the defense and prepare to be MLB future which would give them time to develop M.johnson in to joker passrush specialist SLB which Marvin has been wanting since he got here.Ted Hendricks was 6' 7". Kim Bokamper was 6' 6"
bengalsfansince68
Whitworth seems much more like a RT to me, he is built like a RT and not a G .I cannot agree. I think Whit was born to play LG and was drafted to play LG.I hope to see:LT: AndreLG: WhitC: LuigsRG: BobbieRT : CollinsWe invest a pick in 2010 on Bobbie's replacement and we could be set for a few years.SWEET
derekshank
You know... if Levi is really better as he claims, and his poor play had more to do with his injury than his attitude, I'd just as soon have him back to play LT, and move Andre to RT.That's a doubtful scenario as I think Levi is washed up... but if somehow he did return to the level he played back in '05, that would be the best thing for the team. Kazkal
I cannot agree. I think Whit was born to play LG and was drafted to play LG.Untrue-Whitworth was drafted because his value was too high to pass, they felt he could play 4 out of 5 positions on the Oline-Whitworth's Original position on this team was backup left tackle which he played most of his rookie season in place of a Injured Levi Jones...which he only had 2 bad games imo-in 2007 Eric Steinbach left via Free agency where Whitworth & Dancing Bear competed to be his replacement Whitworth was the better play so won the spot...So we should put him where ever leads to the best combination of our Oline may it be him at RT & Collins at Guard or him LG and Collins & tackle. UF_Gators_15
LT: Anthony CollinsLG: Andrew WhitworthC: Andrew CrummeyRG: Bobbie WilliamsRT: Andre SmithCrummey at the center to let Jon Luigs develop. I wish we drafted Duke Robinson in the 5th instead of Morgan Trent nothing against him I just thought the value to be Bobbie's replacement next year was too much to pass up. I would want Andre to play LT over RT but I don't see Anthony Collins as a RT.
whizzo
FYI, cook's more likely to start than crummey.
DC_Bengals_Fan
Damn, without pads on Michael Johnson looks like a power forward.Yup, he's a big dude. Thing I thought was funny, did you see his neck? He looked like the love child of Karl Malone and Merton Hanks. I saw him and thought, OK, so that's what it would look like if ol' rubberneck was a DE.I'm also liking the attention to detail from the coaching staff on D, they seem like real teachers. COB
Several veterans are here (Keith Rivers, Andrew Whitworth and Jerome Simpson) watching the rookies and offering encouragement …Well done by those vets. Almost like they understand they're part of a football team and want to help the team any way they can. Cut Chad now.
membengal
I can't figure out how to post a pic from the Enquirer, but there is a series of 17 including some great ones of Andre Smith that are choice.
ArmyBengal
Something else I found amusing about the article on the official site is how they talk about the best way to set up the line and the conversation addressed both Smith and Collins, but Jones isn't even mentioned in the equation. I still don't think they should just release him for sh*ts and giggles, but if they get an offer, then fine. Just found it amusing... I saw him and thought, OK, so that's what it would look like if ol' rubberneck was a DE.I saw that too, he's like myself a pencil neck, Freddie Brown, I had saved a tape of some games (ESPN had a 1/2 show of every Bowl game on, about a month ago so I taped it) Freddie Brown reminds me of Dominic Goodman but with size and speed, they played Alabama and 1 he was a man against boys with his size and strength, every 3rd down they went to Brown, ended up with 12-125. I hope he lands on the practice squad, great route runner, gets off the line and just always seems to be open.

HAPPYJAQ
The Smith pick is growing more and more on me each day. He and Collins should be our starting tackles for the next 5 years, at least. Alexander seems to be in love with this dude. I wonder why the Bengals are thinking about playing Michael Johnson at SLB, although I read where they're still tinkering with him at other spots. Maybe that means that they'll be playing Rey more on the inside. MJ, Rey and Rivers could be scary in 2 or 3 years, though.
whizzo
i think it's just a scheme thing - having guys like Rey or Johnson that can play at multiple positions just makes it harder for opposing teams to gameplan. i'm fairly sure Johnson won't move to SAM as his starting position. chrishcovga
What I want to know is, why does Marvin and Jay Hayes smoke crack from the same pipe as Mike Brown ?? What's with this consistent thing about taking good college defensive ends and turning them into outside linebackers ??Isn't that how we ruined David Pollack??? Now we want to turn another high talented player at defensive end, and push him outside too...??? If it ain't broke, stop trying to fix the damn thing!! Seriously this is pissing me off!!! Why do they feel the need to put him at outside linebacker ??? If we're going to run a 3-4 defense, then dammit draft the players to do that. Make the change. Stop trying to have it both ways. Get one thing working right, and then experiment. We've never landed the mammoth nose tackle it takes to run it, and we've drafted terribly at linebacker until the last 2 seasons, and it cost us high draft picks to do it. So Mike Brown, because I know you read this stuff, because you're just the type of pompass ass so narcacistic to need the fricken attention in the first place, tell Marvin and company to stop f**king up good football players by playing them out of their natural position. David Pollack was a Defensive End. Short arms or not, he DOMINATED the SEC year in an year out. Then we moved him to outside linebacker, he couldn't stay healthy, and ultimately got his neck broke. If I'm Michael Johnson..... refuse to sign your contract, before Marvin and company ruin your promising career!!

If I'm Michael Johnson..... refuse to sign your contract, before Marvin and company ruin your promising career!! Marvin wants that pass rushing OLB because that's what he did so successfully in Baltimore. Most people think that D was build around Ray Lewis, but it was really built around Boulware (who was a DE that converted to LB in the pros). He took two big nose tackles in Sam Adams and Goose to tie up all three interior O-linemen, this gave the ends one-on-one matchups with the OTs and allowed Ray Lewis to roam free, and, most importantly, with four D-linemen occupying all five O-linemen, it let Peter Boulware go up against tightends and fullbacks when he attacked the line of scrimmage. Kazkal
Not only that more then likely they'll have time to develop him vs where they felt little more rushed to start pollackWith Reyrey looking to start SLB and keeping dhani in the middle it will give them time to develop Johnson and him still doing what he does best and be a passrush specialist....then in a Year or when ever they feel Rey's ready to take over the middle they may have their beloved passrush specialist SLB ready to go. HoosierCat
I don't mind converting Johnson to SAM.I'd rather keep keep Rey-Rey in the middle, tho. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Sorry Dhani, I like ya but...to all things here is a season, and this is Rey's.
