COB
Del Rio gets a cooler of ice dumped on him. I'm sure glad I didn't take that writer's advice and bet the house on the South.

ArmyBengal
So I never got the chance to watch the game because ArmyBengal Jr. wouldn't let me turn the channel from Blue's Clues or whatever other cartoon he likes for me to be able to check it out. So would any of you that had the chance to watch care to give us a quick brief of what you thought of the players we could be looking at in the 1st ?? Thanks !!! BlainThePain
Thanks !!!The South squad was much faster and talented than the North squad.None of the runningbacks stood out. Pat White looked really accurate on deep passes. Juaquin Iglecius was the best receiver on the field. He kept getting open and had great hands.Quinn Johnson is a beast. I'm a little biased here because I really want the Bengals to draft this dude. Every lead block he made, with one exception, took the defensive player he was blocking, completely out of the play. He also made a hard-nosed short-yardage run for a touchdown where he drove though like 3 or 4 tacklers to reach the endzone. I also noticed a dump off pass that he caught and turned up field for like 10 yards. I was thinking this guy would go late round or undrafted, but after I watched him last night, I think we would be lucky to get him in the 5th round.Tyronne Green looked good. He's a guard with only two years of experience playing o-line. I think he would be a good late round project to develop into a guard/center.Robert Ayers kept getting pressure on the QB, but I'm skeptical of this guy because a lot of people think he will be a guy that will only play hard in a contract year.Nobody on the North squad could get pressure on the QB.Darius Butler didn't look very good. He kept getting beat in coverage and was the worst tackler in the game.DeAngelo Smith looked slow. The commentators mentioned that he would probably be a better safety than corner in the pros.Coye Francies looks like he might be a steal at corner. I noticed him on a couple red zone plays. The only thing with him is he has a past gun charge that he was found not-guilty for.Alphonso Smith of Wake Forrest looked like the best corner in the game.Darry Beckwith looked good at middle linebacker. He made a great play on the goal line where he knocked the lead blocker backwards into the play. He could be a great 2nd/3rd round option if we go offensive tackle in the first round.Brandon Pettigrew is a great blocker. I noticed him completely manhandle a defensive end on a run play to his side. Its too bad he wasn't in one of these past drafts when we were drafting in the middle of the round and needed a complete tightend. I think he'll be the second coming of Todd Heap.Peria Jerry looked tough.Graham Harrell looked like crap. He kept throwing the ball a good five yards short of the receiver.Scott McKillop was always around the ball.

skyline
Hobson, if your'e reading this, I wanna take this opportunity to tell you how much I don't give a s**t about Connor Barwin. Please stop writing about him.As a Bearcats fan, I feel the opposite The game was fun to watch. Too bad Marvin's not miked up like that every game...Who's for drafting a punter this year? Huber would be fine by me...

IMO there will be plenty available.

Kazkal
Being that we'll probably have a extra late round pick I would not mind us using our lastest picks on a kicker or punter...yes you can bring on in via UDFA bit I think it's better have your pick of the litter rather then see who you can bring in... Pidge
Special teams can win and lose you games. So important and for a team such as the Bengals, why overlook a little detail that can have a big impact?
alleycat
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Eric Wood. I watched senior bowl practices all week and Mayock kept saying this guy shows up in games. Well, every he was in he made the two bulls from BC (Raji and Brace), look useless. The bonus? He was playing guard (for the first time in his life, no less) AND center. Nice versatility. I remember one screen play in particular where he had to release his guy and set him free to go after the QB so he could run out and set the block. For good measure he turned and threw his guy as he passed him, chucking him to the ground like a rag doll. Totally unnecessary, but evidence of a guy who's just a little mean. I likey.I want this guy in rd 3 if he's there, and I think based on this week he'll be the first center off the board now (so probably top of Rd 2). Caldwell from the South also did real well. Both of them stood up much better to the BC boys than Mack or Unger. Either way, we should be able to get one of the 3 by the third.
alleycat
BTW, I'm just looking at my sig which I put up when I joined BZ a few years ago. Damned ironic, now, isn't it?

I'd like to see us sign Geoff Hangartner, (he was the Panthers backup center and he did a good job in the couple of games he got to start this season) and draft a center prospect to groom for a year or two like Wood, Luigs, or Mack. If Hangartner works out at center for us, we could always groom the rookie center into an eventual replacement for Bobbie Williams.
