ODELL THURMAN WANTED ON ASSAULT CHARGE

Posted by Michael David Smith on July 11, 2008, 4:44 p.m.

The Erie County Sheriff’s office is searching for former Bengals linebacker Odell Thurman after he was indicted this week for assault, the Sandusky Register is reporting.

Thurman is charged with felonious assault in connection with an altercation at Kalahari Waterpark Resort. He is accused of punching a man in the face and breaking his jaw in an argument over a place in line.

“We’re trying to locate him,” said Erie County Sheriff’s office Det. Bob Lippert.

Thurman showed promise as a rookie in 2005 but was suspended for the 2006 and 2007 seasons. He was reinstated this year, but the Bengals cut him. Shortly after his release, it was reported that Thurman was facing an indefinite suspension because of a violation of the league’s substance-abuse policy.

The funny thing about Thurman and Henry is that even though they aren't with the Bengals anymore... people will still associate them with the Bengals as being bad guys. Even when they do what is necessary and release them, these guys still find a way to make the franchise look bad. Oh well... Let's just embrace the bad boys image. It worked for the Cowboy's in the 90's.

It makes me sad to see the career of the next best thing to Ray Lewis ending this way. I guess it was a gamble to begin with.

No different than the on going Chris Henry saga to me. Two players with tons of potential, but simply can't obey the law.
