Damn Ravens just took Zbikowski. That guy is going to be a very good nfl player imo. Definitely didn't want him going to a division rival.

I think he will be a huge bust, and the Ravens wasted their pick. To each their own.

I also feel Mr. Zbikowski is not as good as advertised. Saw him smoked in several ND games on tv.

Zbikowski is not fast enough. Product of hype, nothing else. Hey look, a white defensive back.

If the guy was slow he wouldn't be Notre Dame's all time Punt return TD leader...yes from the same school that had the Rocket play for them...

Pessimists need only examine the case of the Titans showing extreme patience with Albert Haynesworth. Some team could luck out with Sims using the same approach.

Very well, call me a pessimist.

The comparison to Haynesworth seems questionable to me, but I will admit this. It's the type pf move that takes most of the sting out of passing on Trevor Laws.

I'll say this hair. I agree he is risky in the sense that a coaching staff will need to help him get to what he can be. And the Bengals, for whatever reason, have, for decades, not had the coaches/program to really develop DTs (or even D-lineman). I guess I am hoping maybe Zimmer is the antidote to that. A guy like Sims, with the right coaches, becomes an All-Pro type. With the wrong coaches, washes out. Haynesworth gets drafted by the Bengals all those years ago? Probably not what he has become with the Titans. Conversely, a guy like TJ drafted in the 7th round excels with Cincy, and I bet he washes out of Tennessee, as the Titans don't develop receivers for s**t.

Here's hoping Zimmer can finally turn the trick of not wasting a potential impact DT candidate.

I saw Pat Sims in a couple of games and he looked good.

I remember saying that I wouldnt mind the Bengals getting him

I have seen him projected in the 1st by alot of people.

He is no threat to rush the passer .

He is mostly a space eater but he does a good job of it.

A good pick.

I wouldn't say he's no threat to rush the passer. It may not be his forte, but he has plenty of tackles for losses. He's disruptive. Much more than a space eather, I think.

Sims is a monster, too. I liked Moore but perhaps he will be there for r3b. Glad they pulled the trigger on DT.

Holy s**t. I sleep in 'till 9AM, and miss a DT being drafted out here in Arizona! I'm hearing both good and not so good things about Sims. Not personally being familiar, I hope Kingwilly is right, and he is our answer at DT.

Just what we need on this board, a racist. Glad you could skip the Klan meeting to be here.

Oh, and have you ever heard of Ethan Kilmer?

Right position, wrong player....should have been Moore.

Really low strength - 20 reps at 225? - for a player at this position. Fortunately, strength can be worked on.

Desire on the other hand - this coaching staff has not shown me they can motivate players who lack desire.

I am not unhappy with this pick but again, a better player at the position was available

I was watching some clips on Sims & he looks like a BEAST! CANT WAIT UNTIL PRE-SEASON!!!

Tj....wow, easy tiger.

I was just going to say we already had our "quota"....maybe its an AFC North "thing"...?

light banter...not "motivated" by any deep seeded disdain for folks of other ethinicities....

..my angle was Zbik is a novelty, not the kind of player he was hyped to be...

however, I am GLAD the ratbirds took him instead of someone who might help make theri team better, colors aside!

But was Moore the space Eater that we need?to me he looked more like a penetrator which would also be nice but we've been needing someone to adsorb linemen to help run game .

I recognize two things in regard to this discussion:

1. Africans run faster than white people.

2. Zbikowski's back story, boxer, etc., the fact that he went to Notre Dame, and the fact that he is white, got him a disproportionate amount of media attention.

Admitting the obvious differences about races, and admitting that there are real differences in the way the media treats folks based on race doesn't make you racist. Refusing to admit such things makes you stupid.

... and you know what I am completely tired of in the landscape of America 2008? How completely the media and society in general have come to a point where they TRIVIALIZE racism. Just listen to nearly ANYTHING within the presidential election now and for the next 6 months ... how dare you?!?! That's got to be a racist comment! Oh my, you questioned what!?!?!? You are racist!!! Seriously ... racism, in it's truest form, needs to be taken extremely seriously. Point is, however, I see much less of it than the media wants you to think. And that's a shame, because true racism gets hidden. Sad.
