TJJackson
http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art...PT02/312300024/While I am not saying he'll being reinstated - if I had to lay odds, I'd say it's 50-50 - this is good news because it will help the Bengals plan for the draft and free agency. Much better to know this in February (this time around) than in July (like last time).

TJJackson
Out of shape, then frantic workouts to get in shape, then football = IR quickly.Again, not saying he'll be back....but.....mid february reinstatement would give him lots of time to get in shape. No frantic-ness necessary....I also think basing an analysis of his physical state based on a single headshot taken who knows when is shows poor judgement......mind you, I am not an Odell fan, but let's give the guy a chance here after 2 years out of it......he's paid more than the price to get that chance at this point, I think....... Bengals44
If he doesnt have his alcohol issues solved, I doubt Marvin would take him back if he sticks to what he has stated about ridding of the problem-children we have (that is, if it can be pretty well proven one way or another that he is past or not past the alcohol issue)... ShulaSteakhouse
I don't think you can "depend" on Odell even being a factor next year. You look at him as a UFA who can maybe make your roster. You don't make any plans based on his return. Didn't they learn that lesson last off-season? (whether he's reinstated in Feb or not)Also why would anyone have any confidence in a guy coming back, who doesn't even bother to keep in any sort of shape? Yeah, real motivated guy, just the kind they need more of here eh?
Kazkal
Hard to tell from a head shot because odells face has always looked kinda of chunky imo.I'd love to see him back simply what he did his rookie season but 2 years without the NFL he's fighting a losing battle. http://www.draftace.com/players2005/odell_thurman.jpgPS,I hope the NFL stops screwing him and just gives him a chance. BengalszoneBilly
Odells kinda always had a chunky looking face can't really judge his weight from a head shot,I'd love to see him back simply what he did his rookie season but 2 years without the NFL he's fighting a losing battle.PS,I hope the NFL stops screwing him and just gives him a chance.IMHO the fire still burns within. Let him take the field at MLB and you'll see it erupt like a forest fire once more. I PRAY to see him take the field again for the Bengals! Give him a shot to prove himself on and off the field physically and mentally. If can do something for the team then he's a bonus. It would almost be as if the Bengals had 12 draft picks this year. 10 out of college and Irons and Thurman returning to the field to be productive.Give him a shot. TJJackson
If Thurman comes back in February, Landon is gone. This is one of the most laughable things I have read of late. Landon is arguably our best best linebacker, and is the certainly the most versatile one. Thurman is a HUGE question mark even if he does get reinstated. TJJackson
Well, I guess my thinking is that IF he is reinstated in mid Feb, you have two and a half months to evaluate him prior to the draft, and determine if you can count on him (or not) and at what level.....special teamer, backup, or starter. So by the time the draft rolls around, you might not have to spend a valuable mid-round (4-5) pick on yet another linebacker. One can hope.If he isn't reinstated - hey, at least you know in advance of FA and the draft and can act accordingly. BengalszoneBilly
True - I think it means you count on Odell as a 2nd-day-drafted linebackerT.J., Thurman was drafted on day one of the 2005 draft right after Pollack.
bengalboomer7
The article says he around 240 and working out regularly, so he is in some kind of shape.if he can come back and contribute in any way, I'll be happy. And Landon isn't going anywhere

I'm just looking at Mike Brown's perspective. You could have Brooks, Jeanty, and Thurman. Even keeping Jones too. Mikey looks at that knows he's getting some decent LBs and he can save money by not having to resign Landon.I like Landon, I think he's a solid LB, our most consistent defensive player the past 3 years. I didn't say, or mean, that keeping Thurman over him was a good idea.

kingwilly
First priority should be Stacey Andrews, then Landon and lastly Madieu. extending TJ is also going to factor, as his bonus will hit big.Not knowing how the stop-gap LB's contracts were structured, it would be good to keep Dhani too. Marshall may have a tough time with that Achilles rupture and the others are expendible one guys like Brooks and Henderson recover.rudi is a goner. B-rob(bed Mike Brown), Thornton and Dexter as well.
