Bobcat Bengal
Coach Lewis handled himself well. How could you wanna fire that guy?I missed it. Can u give me a rundown of the interview? He talked about the Minority Coaching program, how it helped him get where he was at, and how he's playing against another good minority coach this week in Tomlin, he discussed the Taylor murder, he talked about Chad, and how emotional and passionate he is about the game........hmmm....... But whatever you say Marv, in your mind you're the greatest. I'm sure the minority program has helped others, not sure he's a good example though. jjakq27
Shu I gotta ask you an honest question. It is obvious for your dislike of some of the things that the Bengals do. In fact a lot of things that they do. So in a perfect world, what would you do to change things? Again, this isn't an attack or anything but I am just wondering if you have any secret wishes or wants as far as fixing this franchise. In my estimation Marvin's star has dimmed considerably since the end of the 2005 season. However I think there must a minimal amount of slack given if only because of the injuries over the last two years. The team thrived on the takeaway in '05 and when that dried up last year, their margin for error became zero. I am willing to wait and see about next year. I do think it is funny that a lot of people bypassed Marvin inthe blame department and went straight to MB when things went bad early this year.A few of my peeves about Marvin are his clock management and what appear to be learning on the job type of decisions during the game. I wish there was another strong willed coach on that team that could step in once and awhile and play "bench coach" for him. I think he has overestimated his and his staff's ability to coach everyone up to NFL standards. I like Caleb Miller but no amount of coaching is going to help him gain 40 pounds. Same thing with Keiwan Ratliff. He is who we thought he was. A slow, dime-a-dozen DB that never measured up. Hopefully they will quit drafting projects and go with guys that are more proven in college. On the plus side, I do think he preaches the right things and seems to say the right things most of the time. I also believe that he has probably handled the Carson knee/Chad blowup and the collapse of last year about as well as anyone could. Even though Carson came back last year I think the whole mental effect of that loss has hung here a long time.As far as fixes, I think that Bresh has gotta go even if it is just for appearances. And a few of the assistants as well. I would also like to see them take a serious look at scouting. Adding more personnel has got to help. And in the draft, taking flyers on guys like Ratliff or Mathias Askew or someone like that should cease. I would also like to see them settle on a "system" approach to their defense much like other teams do and draft players to fit that system. HairOnFire
I liked Marvin's response to being asked how he felt after Chad's celebration resulted in a 15-yard penalty. "Ironically, a defense player immediately came up and reminded me that I was on television."(Laughing) "It was only his second penalty for that since 2003." "It's never a good thing. We tell him that constantly. You never want that." "We constantly remind him that he plays on a team."
Jet23
I am just wondering if you have any secret wishes or wants as far as fixing this franchise.I would like to take a stab at that.1) Hire GM not named Brown or Blackburn2) Add scouts3) See ya Bresh4) Add more scouts5) Invest in bubble. I know it is not a high priority, but I just want to see Hair's reaction.6) Draft McFadden in the 4th round, which is every bit as realistic as him being availabe when they draft in the 1st. The teams that passed on Peterson, will be hesitant to make that mistake again.7) Go after high character defensive leader type. I know, they don't grow on trees, but overspending a bit may pay off. The Packers were criticized for the money they threw at Reggie White, but he totally changed the perception of that team. And oh yeah, they won a Super Bowl.8) See ya Alexander9) See ya Hayes (Jay). Actually, Jonathon retired three years ago and nobody noticed.10) Hire Sam Wyche to do something. I just liked all the whacky stuff he used to do, as well as the 'you don't live in Cleveland' speech. HairOnFire
5) Invest in bubble. I know it is not a high priority, but I just want to see Hair's reaction. I'd shrug my shoulders. You said it yourself, it's not a high priority. In fact, I'd call it a very low priority, and that's precisely why I mock the chants that it's a critical "must have" sort of thing. But if the decision is made to build one I certainly wouldn't consider it a negative. More like a luxury that will mean more to people who hate Mike Brown than actual football fans. BengalszoneBilly
More like a luxury that will mean more to people who hate Mike Brown than actual football fans.Actual football fans have every right to hate Mike Brown. He has been to football what the Anti-Christ is to Christianity.
COB
He has been to football what the Anti-Christ is to Christianity.Comparing Mike Brown to the anti-Christ? Once I got done laughing, it occurred to me that the Book of Revelations says the anti-Christ will reign 1260 years, then receive a deadly wound. 1200 years of Mike Brown? COB
Comparing Mike Brown to the anti-Christ?What!?! Am I the first or what? Nope. The anti-Christ is probably a step up from some of the characterizations of Mike Brown we've all heard and read. I mean, the actual devil would win, wouldn't he? Mike's more like one of the lesser fallen angels.

membengal
Technically, the anti-christ is essential to many in terms of Christian theology. Without such, according to the end times folks, the final battle cannot come. So, ergo, Mike Brown is essential to football? Say! That's actually the case when it comes to pro football in Cincinnati, so, nice work, billy.
