Still in shock

morning,

well a day on and i still can't believe how well our Defence played!!

I know it wasn't perfect, but it was so refreshing to see a mix of schemes/ blitzes/coverage etc.

I also know balti hasn't got the best of offences but you can only play against what is in front of you and our guys did it brilliantly.

For once we seemed prepared for what was coming and adapted well. The whole unit and coaches deserve credit for a change for saving the offence that didn't seem to cope with baltimore's defensive changes at half time. The offence will get better, of course, with the return of willie, levi etc to fitness, and it was obvious how much we missed Chris Henry.

But, if the Defence plays as well as that every game we have a fighting chance of getting through the tough opening 8 games with a winning record. If that happens., who knows where we'll be come January!!

Great individual perfomances from Geathers, Landon etc but superb team effort.

Keep it up!! :sure:

cheers

jon

p.s Has anyone ever seen a game where 2 D-Linemen have made souch important and athletic interceptions??!!

I don't want to sound like an arrogant know-it-all, but am I the only one that wasn't all that surprised by the defense's performance? I expected them to hold their own on third down with a good rush (partially due to Baltimore's issues on the line). I didn't forsee six takeaways by any means, but most of those were just miscues by the Ravens offense anyways. Nor did I expect such an agressive defensive gameplan.

Still, in that game against that team, a poor defensive showing would have surprised me a good deal more than what we actually saw.

I expect a shut out against the crap staines this sunday. They starting Quinn? Well anyway yeah I'm still in a little shock myself. I watch the highlights of the Bengals vs. Ravens game every day. :P Crap Staines lose, 42-0.

I'm still loving it! It was the best night that a man could ask for. The chicken wings turned out excellent, honestly you guys should try them sometime, they're way better than BW3's, had a couple cold ones, the game couldn't have been any better on a freaking Monday Night, the season opener! A win, the crowd going nuts, suspense, everything was perfect. I even got a little action after the game from the wifey :).

Well, I'll just say I was pleasantly suprised by what I saw out of the defense. 6 turnovers ?? Insane !!! I wish the offense could have done more with them, but you take a win against, not only a division foe, but the defending division champs and just enjoy it !!! The wild part about it is, we have so many injuries and still produced. If the defense plays like that this Sunday, the Browns are in for another asspounding !!! Our games with the Browns always tend to be closer than they need to be for me, but I just don't see it this time. Bengals big over the Browns.

WHODEY !!!

No you are not alone Kemo Sabe! I believe I'm on the record saying this should be a good efense as they have depth and play makers at every position on D. As long as the injury bug doesn't get them, they will get better as the season progresses. Linebacker and secondary should be much improved by November. Which happens to be when Henry and Perry could be back. Late season run anyone?

The Defense played good, but i still think they might be alittle inconsitant at times. I hope the intesity goes from week to week and they keep playin the way they did that night. I hope they put this win behind them now and are thinkin of the browns and not past the browns. I still think the bengals will win i just hope they keep it going against them.

The Defense rocked. If they wouldn't of rocked and played the norm the Bengals would have lost. The offense seemed lax and was not converting third downs. With that said this may not be the thread to bring it up but I've been away for a couple days.

Am I the only one that thinks Tab Perry should be cut? Don't bench him, just cut his ass and go get a free agent to fill in until Henry gets back. Piss poor poerformance in my opinion.

Um WTF man? Cut Tab? Listen it wasn't the guys fault Palmer threw behind, above and below him all night. That being said, he didn't really do anything astounding, but cutting him is the last thing this team needs to do. The guy is waaaay too valuable on the field, especially special teams.

A lot of people were sreaming for TJ's head too ..... til the light came on for him. I think that Perrys' performance along with Palmers and Rudis' ... et al can be explained by the fact that they were playing the Ravens. Give 'em a few more games to get the timimg down and not be playing a top 2 or 3 defense and they'll most likely be looking a lot better.

If not & somebody else is outplaying him .... I don't think you'll be seiing him out there anyway.

He's got to go get those balls that are not perfectly hitting him on the numbers. I just don't see it from this guy. A QB can't be 100% accurate every throw and every game, and when he's not the receivers have to be able to go get the errant throws and bring them in. He's never returned a kick or punt for a TD so what makes him soooooo valuable on special teams?

But see, your wrong too. It WAS Tab's fault that he couldn't run a freaking route. Maybe if he could, those balls wouldn't be behind, above and below him all night.

I agree, he shouldn't be cut, he's great on ST's. But he's by far NOT a #3 wr.

I can't wait for Perry and Henry's return.

According to the .com site, Carson says it was all his fault, not Tab's... That being said, how nice is it to have someone with Carson's leadership abilities to take the blame regardless of the situation. It takes the heat off of Tab and empowers him to do better the next time on the field. Carson is the man !!!

WHODEY !!!

Yeah, but before the last Pro Bowl Carson Palmer also took the blame for the decision to park all of the planes closely together at Pearl Harbor in 1941.

"I thought it would make them easier to protect, but in retrospect all it did was make them easier to burn. Sorry. My bad."

I'm not going to say that Tab is a #3 WR, but can we for a minute try to remember that this is literally the first time in his NFL career being asked to play WR. His rookie year he was a KR/ST. Last year he was injured.

This is for all intents a purposes his sophomore year as a NFL player, and his rookie year as a WR. Can we give him more than one game before we cut him?
