HoosierCat
Those are all the relevant questions.Well done, fellas.Hey, we try. Seriously, though, it would not surprise me in the least if the Bengals pick up an LB before the season starts. With Pollack, Odell and now Henderson all out, and both Earl Everett and Rashad Jeanty currently nursing undisclosed nicks, the team's rapidly thinning out at the position. ShulaSteakhouse
Ed Hartwell's available.Seriously I have no idea why he isn't starting for Brooks and think they should move Brooks outsideI am tired of watching Caleb Miller get pushed around and make tackles 15-20 yards downfieldPlease God don't make him a starter again. Miller was working with the 3rd stringers in the Saint game.
volcom69
One thing about Trotter is he is very good in run support, and is very vocal and would be a big in the locker room. I have to agree and i want to Hartwell starting i think he could be a big difference for the LB.
jjakq27
Here's one of those 6 degrees of separation things (in honor of Kevin Bacon, shown below). Marvin and Mike let Takeo go in 2003. Since then the MLB position has become a revolving door for a variety of reasons. And now we are talking about picking up Trotter who was displaced by Spikes this year. While I always thought that Takeo was overrated I think it is funny that we are now trying to get the guy that he replaced. Maybe we should have kept him. ArmyBengal
With the dollar amount involved, I can't see us going after what would be the oldest dude on the LB corps...Great thread title by the way !!!WHODEY !!!
WhoDeyForever
You know, I wouldn't mind having Trotter at all.. He could bring leadership to the defense and that's exactly what this defense needs..He's worth a shot IMO.
GapControl
Henderson`s injury really hurts us. We have Hartwell who is trying to prove he recovered from injury, Jeanty the 2 yr, Brooks the confused, LJ and Caleb the runover, then Frazier and Everett the inexperienced. I feel sick, it could be the sun. Atleast with Eric H. and Brooks we had power and athleticism... how can we replace it?
BengalszoneBilly
Atleast with Eric H. and Brooks we had power and athleticism... how can we replace it?Well I'd prefer the return of Thurman and Pollack, but wish in one hand, and s**t in the other, and see which one fills up first. kingwilly
Let's get him in and look at his knees and his attitude.Look, it is bound to be that one or more additional LB's get hurt. why not give him a whirl?
ArmyBengal
Leadership is big, but this defense needs some attitude and an identity.Wasn't attitude one of things being b*tched about when it came to Hartwell ?? Anyway...WHODEY !!!
bnglsboi8532
IMO, Trotter's not washed up, just owed money that the Eagles didn't want to pay since they got TKO! If u recall GapControl, wasn't Trot in the Pro Bowl recently?
walzav29
What could it hurt? The Bengals linebackers look horrible. I say bring him in.
Spor_tees
Trotter can take Miller's place. Talk about a guy that took 3 steps back this year! During the last game, he was getting engulfed by blockers and wasn't even visible on special teams where he needs to be to make the team. Hello Mr. Miller! Meet Mr. Pink slip! Oldcat
I think at least a large fraction of the problem we have had on defense is the lack of continutity at all positions. Is there any position that has had one player at the same spot for several years in a row?Corner is probably the closest, but both Tory and Deltha have missed games due to injury, and father time got Tory last year.Safety has been a constant churn each year. At LB we have a new MLB every year, and the others swich sides. Even at DE JustinSmith has changed sides of the field at least once.We all saw last year how a few line injuries and Carsons recovery turned a machine like efficient offense into a spotty and inconsistantunit. How much worse is it on defense, where we suffer more injuries every year?So I'm doubtful that some old washed up guy can magically fix everything. Instead I hope that with some continuty and a little luck we can get a defense that can stand up on the field.
HairOnFire
Let's get him in and look at his knees and his attitude. Trotter's attitude has always been stellar, and is probably his greatest attribute. That said, if rumors posted on this message board are true then the guy who just bagged my groceries might be the Bengals team doctor....so what possible good would come from a guy like that checking out Trotter's knee? Medically speaking, isn't it extremely likely that he'd put the 12-pack on top of the bread, missing whatever injury or damage Trotter might have? One of these days, someone here is going to lose it and begin the quest west towards your home Maurice Clarrett style. Good times though, good times.
