Quincy Wilson arrested?

From PFT...

ANOTHER BENGAL IS BUSTED?

On the same day that Packers linebacker Nick Barnett re-set the "days without an arrest" meter from 27 to zero, it appears that another NFL player has been arrested.

And this one is a member -- surprise, surprise -- of the Cincinnati Bengals.

A reader forwarded to us a link to the West Virginia Regional Jail Authority's facility-by-facility database of new admissions. And, on June 17, at 6:50 a.m. EDT, a man named Quincy Wilson, with a date of birth of April 26, 1981, was admitted to the Western Regional Jail.

The Bengals have a running back named Quincy Wilson, who is from Weirton, West Virginia and who played at West Virginia University. He was born on April 26, 1981.

We're in the process of tapping some our of local law enforcement sources for more details. Stsy tuned.

If the Quincy Wilson who was arrested is the same Quincy Wilson who plays for the Bengals (and unless there are two guys with the same name born on the same day who have reason to be in West Virginia, it likely is the same guy), it's another embarrassment for the Bengals -- and for the Mountaineers.

Also, here is a link to the database that PFT is talking about. Anyone know if Quincy Wilson's middle name is Ray?

Yes it's him and he was arrested for Disorderly Conduct (IOW nothing major).

He's on the roster as of this time. The entire league is suffering from this problem, Bengals' get singled out because they're one of the teams at the forefront.

At this point as long as the starters/stars are staying out of trouble, my blood pressure remains calm.

Enquirer has the story:

Wilson arrested in W. Va.

Bengals running back charged with disorderly conduct

BY KEVIN KELLY | KKELLY@ENQUIRER.COM

A Bengals player was one of 14 people arrested early Sunday in Huntington, W.Va. when police there tried to break up a large crowd that had gathered outside some downtown nightclubs.

Running back Quincy Wilson was charged with disorderly conduct and taken to Western Regional Jail in Barboursville, W.Va. According to jail records, Wilson was booked at 6:50 a.m. Sunday and released on his own recognizance at 2:38 p.m. the same day.

Huntington Police Lt. Hank Dial said today that officers wanted to disperse the crowd because of a recent incident involving gunfire near the area. According to WSAZ-TV in Huntington, Wilson was with a wedding party at a nightclub on Fourth Avenue in Huntington.

Wilson, 26, appeared in three games with the Bengals as a first year player last season. He spent much of the season on the team’s practice squad.

Bengals spokesman Jack Brennan said today the team did not feel it was appropriate to comment on Wilson’s arrest because, “it’s still at the stage of charges.”

Yep, front story on Yahoo right now - "10th Bengal arrested in 14 months."

Woo hoo!

That WVU football program really has turned out some idiots lately.

Way to go scrub!!!! Some of these guys just make too much money too quickly to be able to handle it. For God's sake - Quicy freaking Wilson and we have to listen to the next round of bad Bengal jokes because of this moron.... At least McNeal saw the field a couple of times before he went out for his big night with Odell. Who's next...Ghent? Tim Day?

these players that are fighting for a roster spot each year sure dont help their cause by doing ANYTHING stupid. lets say we cut him now. he wont get a shot anywhere else and his NFL career is done over a stupid minor arrest. kinda makes you wonder wtf he was even thinking.

By all reports, he was waiting outside a club with a wedding party, and was told to disperse - if I'm celebrating a friends marriage / demise, and a cop tells me to 'disperse for no apparent reason, I'm not going to either.

I'll be amazed if this goes to trial - it looks and smells like BS.

No doubt your intuition is correct. These types of "arrests" are too numerous to keep track of with NFL players who always seem to enjoy the nightlife. My only problems with it are (1) since it didn't happen in KY I can't automatically assume the cops were just harassing them; and (2) how hard is it to go sit in your car rather than getting put in this situation? If I'm basically living paycheck-to-paycheck on the margins of an NFL career, you can bet you a$$ I'm not going to give anybody a reason to get on their bad side. And let's face it, the Bengals have to be more sensitive to this crap than any other team right now, so why give them a black eye over something so stupid. In these situations, it always comes down to a pissing match with a cop who can haul you just because they feel like it. Why not mix in a simple 'yes sir' and go chill in your car while the best man (who probably works at Blockbuster) gets arrested?

I'm surprised I haven't heard more support yet for Quincy. There is a qualitative difference between this, a group of people celebrating a wedding, and the degenerate shenanigans certain other players have been involved in/associated with -- strip club shootings, weapons arsenals, drugs, pimping, prostitutes, huge dogfighting rings, etc. Yet this is the story we read on the front page of SI.com along with Pacman's latest fiasco. It's ridiculous that it should be anything more than a minor blurb on the local news circuit. Completely overblown. Quincy, I got your back buddy.

x2. Of all the Bengals' run-ins with the law, this (in my book) is up there with the Chris Henry "turn signal ticket" as lamest excuse to bust a Bengal. A lot of guys on the team have done stupid sh*t but from all I've read this seems little more than a bunch of cops looking for an excuse to roll out ye olde Paddy Wagon.

One thing's for sure -- they likely didn't just arrest him because he's a Bengal. I doubt anybody knows who the hell Quincy Wilson is outside of the Georgetown campus.

Hell...I was saying "so the f**k what" until I realized I had him confused with former Bengals running back Stanley Wilson!

That's hard to argue with, but I still will.

Wilson was just one of more than a dozen people arrested, including the bride and groom, and the reason given for police concern had nothing to due with anyone at that party. Instead, they were concerned about a shooting that had occured nearby. So despite the risk of starting off another round of Bengal jokes, if I'm Quincy Wilson I think I'd stand tall with my friends and family and loudly protest a demand that the celebration end.

As for the jokes about this being the 10th Bengal arrested in 14 months, well....everytime I hear it I'm reminded how little I care about 8 or 9 of the arrests. And as others have pointed out, how much am I supposed to care upon learning that the Bengals 5 the string RB was hauled off to jail along with the bride, groom, and presumably a parade of bridesmaids and ushers.

I personally always liked the thought of having Wilson around (if only the practice squad)... He's a Rudi clone and GOD FORBID something happen to him, I think Quincy would get a good shot. Now with the drafting of Irons, it changes things quite a bit. If they only keep 4 RB's, Rudi, Irons, J Johnson, and probably *gulp* Perry make it. I can't see them holding onto Wilson when Perry is still on board. I'd like to see Wilson stay, but I just can't see it happening. Perry gets to the PUP and Watson is the man, can't forget him either. This is minimal in my mind. I thinks it sucks for him though if he was just caught up...

WHODEY !!!

That reminds me of movie I watching late last night on Skinamax....

I would say that Wilson's arrest was probably some bs, it just seems our guys need to stay out of small towns cause they aren't having any luck with the local police.
