  1. well, he can keep Ogbuehi Jr company in the Training Room Its interesting to me that he is from the Cincinnati area, specifically the same section of town that, uhm, Carman comes from (and no, I am not holding that against him, its just interesting) Hopefully this wont keep them from picking up Wiley, but it probably will F {shrug}
  2. I'd like to end with with this fellow at some point
  3. Need another ORT here, as they took Ogbuehi "Training Room" Jr in round 1 However, it wouldnt be the worst case if they took an outside CB with return skills or a IOL here Needs the rest of the way is 1 CB, 1 OC, 1 ORT, 1 P, 1 coverage LB, 1 TE Hopefully the focus is on RAS and character, as all these day 3 guys will almost certainly be development/backup players......I agree with you Stripes, but one hopes a few of these guys can grow into Starters or key roleplayers....and a need at a backup spot is a need as well :-) Overall this has imo been a really bad draft so far, so I hope Day 3 can redeem it somewhat
  4. well, we needed a NT, and we got a NT, so thats good I also like his durability and strength of character - defensive team captain and all that his RAS, is, uhm, well....... tho that is often the case with NT types They met a priority need, basically. That said, he seems like a guy that will be easy to like and a good teammate. There absolutely is value in that B- Best pick of their draft so far, imo
  5. I looked at the 2nd round pick as right position wrong player I look at this one as just simply wrong, period First and foremost, again, they should have been looking to trade up to get a good player at a greater position of need. Beebe would have been excellent here, for example Second, there is no need to take a receiver this year, and certainly not with an early pick. As I said, no WR taken, even with a spectacular showing in camp and/or preseason, would have risen above WR3, and I'd say even that is highly unlikely I will admit that the RAS is good but I think character and effort issues are gonna hold him back D- {shrug}
  6. This pick is a case of right position, wrong player As I said last night, the Bengals should have been working out what pick number the more desirable candidates would likely be picked, and trading just ahead of one of those slots but they didnt by sticking to their pick number, they ended up reaching for a decent player instead of getting a good one, especially after that run on DTs just a bit ahead of them. They reached for this player because of this run on DTs. But I think they had to because (again) they werent proactive and there weren't many good DTs left The RAS is fairly good I dont see any durability knocks on this guy, which is good Seems to be a much better run defender than pass rusher, which isnt so good in this passing league He also seems a little underweight for his height - needs to put on at least 15 pounds of muscle before the season, preferably more, and even more that that if he is going to be used primarily as a run stopper, which is likely Grade C- {shrug}
  7. agreed, Army I'd love to see them do something crazy (for them, that is) and end up losing all but one of their picks in round 5 or later to get all but one of their picks into round 4 or earlier why all but one instead of all? to draft a Punter.....sorry Robbins, sorry Chrisman Id like to see them look at this year as the last year of the superbowl window, and go absolutely all in on quality
  8. I am comparing the two for what I expect Mims to be - injured, ineffective, or a healthy scratch I hope and pray I am very very very wrong
  9. more evidence that he is Mr Glass
  10. Yes Army. Love the measurables that were taken but thats about all he has going for him, imo, but also please note the most important OL measurements were not taken at all....short area quicks related aside: I'd like to them stop recording 40 times for OL. I mean, long runs by OLs are virtually nonexistent. I want to know how long it takes for the OL to get to the other side of the telephone booth, not the other side of the field
  11. WR? hork spit any WR we take will (injury aside) be no better than WR3 in 2024.....and thats if they are phenomenal just say no to WR
  12. I agree with several of you that they should be focusing on quality over quantity, and ergo should be using a few of the later picks to upgrade their earlier picks Since they picked up the new Ogbuehi in the first, I would be very happy if they picked up the new Fisher in the 2nd. One should hit. Probably the Fisher. DT or OT would be optimal. If there is a 3 down TE at that point, and I dont know if there is one in this draft (Bowers is a receiver only) that'd be good too Worst case, a IOL. The Oregon OC would be a phenomenal pickup at 49 Among the mocks I have seen it is popular to pick up a WR or RB (or both) on day 2. I want nothing to do with either til day 3 what the war room should be doing right now: 1. identify where they think Newton, Powers-Johnson, or one of the remaining high quality ORTs will probably go 2. call the teams just ahead of those spots and start wrangling a trade to get ahead of one of those spots
  13. That said, when Alt went unexpectedly at 5, and then the Titans (who wanted Alt) took Latham, I knew things werent going to go well at OT, and I truly expected them to go with one of the DTs, which wouldnt have been optimal from my point of view but would have been better than Mims It twists the knife in me just a little bit more that the Rapistburgers took the next best option at OT two picks later
  14. I will endeavor to curb my negative feelings on this pick I am Mr Lineman, Gimme a Lineman guy. Luv'em. and I absolutely wanted an ORT with this pick. ...however... there was exactly one guy i wanted no part of at 18 and yeah, here he is I love his athleticism, size, and the fact that his snaps - what few they were - came at ORT I hope and pray he is the new Big Willy. But I am expecting the new Ogbuehi, only less productive and more oft injured I think they need to draft another ORT with one of their day 2 picks
  15. Now if a qb is BPA at a certain point, I can see maybe taking one, but I see that as a low-probability scenario There will always - at least, in this draft - be a greater need for another coverage LB or a size CB who can cover the Kelce TE. It also makes it a little easier to take a P, as neither Robbins nor Chrisman have reached even average levels of performance
  16. from that same article "Additionally, Cincinnati announced the signing of quarterback Logan Woodside. The former seventh-round pick spent last year with the Falcons after they picked him up late in the 2022 season." S U P E R B O W L
  17. Rare good news from the Bengals I knew they had Browning for 2024 because he's some sort of restricted RFA, but I figured he'd be gone after 2024 not so :-) I am shocked that they got him to sign a TWO year deal :-) Among other things, this means we dont absolutely need to take a developmental QB in the draft, and that frees up a spot for a tertiary need like coverage linebacker or another OL. O U T S T A N D I N G
  18. With Trent Brown being injury prone and older, my expectations is that he will not last the entire 2024 season. And he's gone after 2024. Expect the best, but plan for the worst So the plan should be for the OT - hopefully specifically a RIGHT tackle - they absolutely need to draft at 18 or 49 will be the starter at ORT by the end of 2024 at the latest and of course, that player would then (optimally) be handed the starter spot at ORT in 2025, with the 1 year rental Trent Brown moving on As such, I dont want this new OT working at OG, and most especially not at OLG If all goes well, this player will be the backup (swing tackle) at both OLT and ORT, and the jumbo OL as well I can see them drafting up to three OL this year. In addition to the glaring need at ORT, they need a better backup C than No Knees Hill. Second, the Smith and Carman experiments are over and done with, as far as I am concerned. Third, we need depth and heirs apparent to Karras and Cappa I wont destroy appliances or set any local stadiums on fire if the first pick is a pass rushing DT, but if that is the case, 49 then becomes a pick that M U S T be an ORT
  19. But.......we brought in Mixon's replacement in FA net change in rostered RBs is zero regarding a WR early - do you think they have no trust in one of Sizzle or Yoh breaking out as WR3? I mean, the theoretical day 2 WR will be no better than WR3 as things stand in 2024, plus they need to toss some balls in Gesickis direction too
  20. I gave reasons above :-) However, now that I see that Amphar is thumbs down on Mims, I will have to rethink my position
  21. Indeed, WR at 18 is a HUGE no-no, Give Chuck Sizzle and YOH SEE VOSS a chance at WR3. Pretty much my home appliances need the pick to be a DT or a ORT not named Mims. I like everything about Mims except his lack of durability and resulting lack of experience 2nd round pick needs to be another Lineman or a 3down TE (if such a being exists) Id be OK with another receiver no earlier than r4. High RAS type. For some reason a lot of mocks are going RB on day 2. I don't see any need for a RB at all in this draft.
  22. Latest Mel mock has us getting Johnny Newton as our S E C O N D round pick at 49 wtf?
  23. It's so odd that Simpson was never able to find the real killer(s) I mean, he searched every golf course in America for them, with no luck whatsoever
  24. Dont want Mims at all in any round Frequently injured which has in turn led to lack of experience. Best ability is availability If he were to somehow fall to round 5 or so due to no team wanting such an injury prone player, then sure, take a flyer I dont like Guyton for pretty much the same reason. Gimme a guy who is available every week
