  1. Well, back when all this started it was, he’s waiting for JJ to sign and set the market, and he did, so at least to me it’s no surprise that a JJ-level deal is what he wants. And I think we all knew that whatever JJ’s deal turned out to be, it was going to be a rhymes-with-witch to push through the front office because it would require them to break their self-imposed rule about guaranteed money beyond year 1. And and, this was all bubbling up a year before an extension would normally be done. I don’t know what they’re going to do. I suspect the FO very much wants to wait until 2025, and since it doesn’t look like Chase is actually going to hold out, they probably don’t do a deal this year. But that’s just a guess.
  2. And welcome to the final game of the preseason, aka the Scrub Bowl. I don't anticipate much interest, but here's a thread anyhow.
  3. Good breakdown here on Chase’s reported demands. Bottom line, it’s perfectly doable and not unreasonable. https://atozsports.com/nfl/cincinnati-bengals-news/jamarr-chase-contract-request-report-justin-jefferson/
  4. Well, remember this some guy on bookface, tho a similar narrative is coming from the Rapien/Egger end of the media. Joe himself has insisted he’s fine. I think we all expected the wrist to require some level of management, we will just have to see how it goes.
  5. From the bookface group I follow:
  6. Hubbard, Trent brown back at practice today.

  8. My non-player-specific takeaways would be: The defense was impressive in that the only starter out there today was Hill and the Bears ones couldn’t do squat. Tackling and coverage were mostly solid and there were some nice run-stuffs. Offensively, again it was all backups. Not much going in the run game. Passing game was sub par but notably I thought the backup oline held up well. Woodside took a couple ugly blindside sacks but I put those on him. Have to be aware pre snap and at least peek after the snap. Teams were fine I guess. McMoney hit from 54 so a good day.
  9. Bears hype has been out of control since the draft. Up here in Chicagoland it’s so bad I’m starting to root for Green Bay.
  10. Took the bears ones almost 30 minutes to get a td against our backups and scrubs. Chicago is going to disappoint a lot of bears fans this year.
  11. Newton never looked back there
  12. I’m stuck watching the bears broadcast and they are just going on on how awesome the Bears defense has been today LMAO
  13. Jenkins gets to Williams!
  14. Gotta see it to eat it, he wasn’t even looking.
  15. Man wood side you gotta work on that awareness thing baby…
  16. Nice toss by woodside on that 4th down pickup
  17. Yeah they completely shut down the Bears’ ones. Just preseason, vanilla playcalling etc but still a nice showing.
  18. Damn D2 getting the job done
  19. Well that will wake woodside up.
  20. I like this Woodside kid. Calm in the pocket, makes good throws.
  21. D off to a good start
  22. Way things have been going I dread the injury report after this game. Eric All to get a lot of work today. https://www.bengals.com/news/erick-all-jr-coming-off-the-blocks-vs-bears
  23. ESPN has a really good piece by Ben Solak on the ongoing Aiyuk drama in SF that provides some sort of global context to the whole WRs-getting-paid storyline this year here: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/40855012/brandon-aiyuk-contract-49ers-trade-wr-steelers-pay-contract-extension One point that caught my eye is right up front: I'm gonna go ahead and be the one to say it. Fine, Chase, you think you're the shit? Go whistle. We'll give your money to Tee and draft a guy.
