If you were waiting for Tre Flowers to return, scratch him from your list. He signed with the Falcons. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/05/08/falcons-sign-tre-flowers/ Adding Sidney Jones in the offseason, along with DJ Turner and DJ Ivey, they probably weren't all that concerned. It's probably why Apple won't be back either unless his number is very small.

It's funny. I've never really given much thought to how young these guys are. Pretty much all football players are in their 20's with a smaller amount in their 30's. Almost all are an afterthought when they hit 40. The Military isn't far off that either when it comes to the enlisted side of things. Most of us join early and are done. By the time I was 40, I had 21 years in and my body couldn't keep it up. Now that I'm 53, I have to stretch in the morning just to be able to walk right and there's a level of pain that just comes with the territory, which I don't even complain about. I have to get above a 5 for it to be worthy mentioning. Running backs, linebackers and those positions that take most of the hits must feel 80 by the time they are 30.

Well, happy to hear Jonah is on the mend and I would love for him to come take the RT spot. I honestly think he would do just fine on the other side if his butt isn't still hurt more than his knee. That being said, I hope Jonah wasn't thinking the Bengals were going to hand HIM that big free agent deal. I don't think he was ever in the Bengals long term plans or least the last couple years worth. Him being upset about the lack of communication only shows his lack of understanding. The Bengals have already said they didn't even have Orlando Brown on their radar and that HIS agent was the one that contacted the Bengals. From there it sounded like it was just a whirlwind of events leading to his signing. When things are moving quickly and you can add Brown's level of talent, you stop the whole damn thing and ask his permission, or even ask him if he's interested. You do what they did. Jonah needs to ball out, take his nearly 13 million for 2023 and shut the fuck up. 2024 and another team are coming your way soon enough Jonah.

I think Allen was liked due to his familiarity with what Coach Taylor runs. That being said, I think Siemian is a much better overall QB.
-
They could do better... lol I'm good with any of these guys as long as Burrow remains 100% healthy for the season.
-
If memory serves me correctly, there isn't much out there at this point. The Bengals did have Trevor Siemian in for a visit last month I think and he's still out there. However, there's a good reason he's still out there. Slim pickings at the moment.

I have no issue with the Bengals not filling a need while taking what they perceived as a better player. I also agree the production for the TE room is not much to attempt to duplicate. While it would seem fairly easy for getting this room to replicate it, it's not a foregone conclusion. Those odds go up dramatically with a 100% healthy Irv Smith Jr. We only have history to go by in trying to determine what we could reasonably expect moving forward. Smith has never had a season where he hit 375 yards. He's only had more than 2 TD's in a season once. Sample has 1 season with more than 345 yards and has 1 TD in 4 years. Wilcox's production is almost non-existent, but has managed a single TD like Sample. Asiasi's production is non-existent, but does have a TD among his 4 career receptions. Again, I would agree it seems fairly easy for this TE group to repeat what they got in 2022, but we don't have much to base that opinion on. I hope we get a fully healthy Smith for 2023 and he remains that way. That would go a long way in getting to that point. I'm still not opposed to them bringing in someone else should a player become available during cuts.
-
I like any player getting motivated and this kid has definitely needed to mature. Maybe now's the time. The Bengals would get nothing back for cutting Jonah. His salary is fully guaranteed at this point. I have. That dude sucks fat donkey balls. Not that I won't be rooting for him mind you.
-
Dude had every opportunity to beat out a 4th round rookie from North Dakota and failed. If he took the "L" there and has picked himself back up to earn the RT spot at some time, I'm rooting. That's all you can hope for from anyone, let alone a football player. It's alright to fail. Just pick yourself back up and go harder. And leave 15 year old girls alone. Ok, I may have added that second part.

Honestly, I agree with Mem in that this is nothing more than Jonah still recovering from his knee surgery and being unavailable early on. I fully expect him to be the starting RT minus his injury lagging on longer than expected. Since Jonah has been whining about the move, I expect his injury to linger. In that instance, I think Carman has just as much a chance as any other player on the roster. He has a real opportunity in this situation with Collins not being back early either.

I will throw my thoughts in. TJ tries out and earns the starters role ahead of all these clowns. He earns All Pro honors and since it was a one year deal, he hits the open market in 2024 resetting the right tackle market with a 4 year, 100 million dollar deal, which is fully guaranteed. He does the right thing and contributes half his pay to his brothers at Bengalszone, which will be divided almost equally. I get the big piece of chicken, due to my finders fee of course. With the money, COB surprises each BZ member with their very own customized Rascal Freedom Power Chair ($1500.00 at Sam's Club). The $1.80 upcharge from the normally priced $1498.20 was due to the custom orange and black color scheme with stripes included. That is all...

Color me unexciting, but nothing would please me more than a home opener against what should be a lesser opponent. Although, I can't say there are many "lesser" opponents on the schedule. Maybe a Rams rematch ??

Round 6 (206): Andrei Iosivas, WR Princeton
ArmyBengal replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
I really still haven't heard much about him and wasn't aware they had him in on a visit. Totally was not tracking this dude. Glad they were because from what I've seen he certainly has skills. Funny Housh was brough up, because when my son and I were watching highlights, that's exactly who I thought of. I don't know if it was the way he runs or carries himself, but you can see it. Obviously anything the Bengals can do to bolster depth and improve the roster is a huge plus. Again, can't wait to see him come the preseason games. -

Back on point however, I can't wait to see what this kid does through camp and into the preseason, where he is sure to get a lot of reps. Like Charlie Jones, he has an exciting skill set from what little I have seen of him since we drafted him. To be honest, I had never heard the kids name until that point. -
Round 6 (206): Andrei Iosivas, WR Princeton
ArmyBengal replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
I guess it depends on if they can keep finding guys on the cheap AND have them remain healthy as well. When you look at both the Hurst and Smith 1 year deals, the two year total was a little over 5 million. If that remains the case and the next two years cost them about the same, that would be about 10 million. Lets pretend we took a TE in the second round this year. That would cost less than 6 million for 4 years. Should they pull the trigger in the later rounds, that prices continues to drops for a 4 year investment. I wouldn't mind seeing them do both to be honest. Get a young guy to wrap up for 4 years, while simultaneously bringing in a free agent add here and there. -
Round 6 (206): Andrei Iosivas, WR Princeton

And they should be waiting with baited breath. Again, I actually think Smith with have a good season in this offense if he remains healthy. Outside of him, it's a bag of suck. A big bag. -
Round 6 (206): Andrei Iosivas, WR Princeton

I mean, you are already busy with the RT try outs and all. It's a shame really. Not enough time in the day. -
Round 6 (206): Andrei Iosivas, WR Princeton
ArmyBengal replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
Jesus Mem, something up your ass today? Why so mad when someone speculates? I didn't even know how much this kid weighed, let alone much anything else about this seemingly nobody of a player. The Bengals being all in on a player with 15 starts over 4 seasons, along with a bunch of other absolutely unspectacular players is entirely up to them and I hope Smith has an All Pro season, but I'm not betting on it either. Calm down brother, it was just a talking point. -
Round 6 (206): Andrei Iosivas, WR Princeton
ArmyBengal replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
I'm just curious. Mostly because I still think there is a glaring hole at TE that needs to be addressed with more than an injury prone TE to this point. I'm not suggesting that's the best course of action. Hence the speculating comment. Guess that's a no. Cool... -
No problem. I just recall reading about him years ago and then nothing. Like he disappeared like a fart in the wind. Then poof, he's a Bengals UDFA. Crazy. Hoping the best for a dude that does in fact have loads of potential.

Round 1 (28): Myles Murphy, DE Clemson
ArmyBengal replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
Like I was saying, there was no way Murphy was going to make it to them at #28. I was absolutely shocked when he began to fall. Hell yeah !! -
Round 4 (131): Charlie Jones, WR Purdue
ArmyBengal replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
Please God, let this kid be the returner we've been asking for since forever !! -
Round 6 (206): Andrei Iosivas, WR Princeton
ArmyBengal replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
So again, I can't help but wonder, although I don't think this is what they were thinking, but can he play TE ?? He's big, fast, can catch and prides himself on his blocking. He sure isn't taking one of the top 3 WR spots and maybe not one of the top 4 if Jones is the return guy. I am totally speculating, but maybe he could find a place there when considering that room. -
Maybe the light has finally come on for Carman. Maybe he saw what potential free agent contracts hold. Whatever it is, I will root for him to take charge of that Right Tackle spot if Jonah continues his pity party. To be honest, I will root for anyone to take charge of the Right Tackle spot. Literally anyone... TJ, please report to PayJoe Stadium, there's a jersey with your name on it waiting !!! You got this bro !! Believe !!

Here you go. As a matter of fact, this was written almost two years ago to the date. https://www.si.com/college/washington/football/the-nfl-draft-clock-strikes-12-for-husky-ot-jaxson-kirkland Dude went from a possible top 15 pick two years ago, to undrafted.
