  1. I literally check updates like every 20-30 minutes to see if anything has gotten done with Chase. It would be nice to see the team make this a non issue.
  2. I hope they don't healthy scratch him, but if the reports are accurate, that would certainly send a message. I guess we will see soon. I'm still rooting for the kid and think he has a great opportunity to be very successful here. Hope he doesn't develop a terminal case of "Two Cent Head"...
  3. I've never suggested the Bengals haven't moved forward. I'm speaking specifically to this point. Seeing as how this one involves money coming into the organization, it's different than say a rule change they voted against. I think the Bengals have good people in place and have built a much improved culture since coach Zac was hired. I won't say that's been the norm for them. I simply want them to continue down the path they have paved in recent years. The Browns will always be the Browns. The Watson deal will continue to be the noose around their neck. Spending does not always equate to moving forward.
  4. I was thinking about the game tonight and that very thought came to mind. Who to root for? Yeah, the division thing is most important. Handle business in week two at Arrowhead and it's a mute point.
  5. Yeah, I get 23. We have a 25 year old "kid" working with us on a temp basis and it takes all I have to listen to the nonsense that flies out of his mouth. I wasn't a complete idiot at 23, but if you would have given me the coin Burton just got, I would have been uncontrollable. Thing is, I wasn't an NFL player with the expectations that come along with that. If there are trust issues between him and Burrow, who has commented about Burton needing to get in the playbook, that at least gives pause. Do I think this has long term problem written on it? No, but it sure would be nice to see him follow through on his own words in stating what happened in college is not who he is. I think he has great potential. I'm just hoping it's realized.
  6. Burton… Saw a rough report about his maturity concerns being a very real problem. To such a degree that they don’t trust him so much, he may not be active on game days. Again… hey Housh come get your boy !!
  7. Bengals - 72 Patriots - 3
  8. The point I’m making in this is that business processes always change. This is no different. Someone will find a way to use this to their advantage. If the mindset is we won’t do anything because of current thinking, future opportunities could be missed. Are you striving to move forward or are you stagnant?
  9. I guess that's true as well. Like COB mentioned though, some team will innovate to such a degree where it becomes a financial advantage in a way that other teams haven't thought of. When opportunities are simply dismissed, they are lost. That's where a decade like the 90's happens. It's like the thinking that if you don't work on your business processes, you can bet someone else will be working on theirs and sooner or later you will get left behind. Don't do that...
  10. Teams will have another way to come up with guaranteed money for high profile players as well. Something the Bengals have seemingly struggled with as well until all the naming rights deal. Remember when that was something they had never done before?
  11. Oh I get the challenge, along with their being enough talent to field additional teams. Omaha? Yeah, you can keep that city. It's not that's NOT a nice city, it's just in the middle of fucking nowhere. I lived in Sioux Falls, SD for 3 years and it felt desolate. Nice place, nice people, outdoorsy community, but nowhere. It's not that I'm irritated by it either. It's pointless. At some point, there will be permanent teams in various other countries. I just won't be a fan of it.
  12. I would rather see expansion into other US cities than to countries outside of the US.
  13. So Dax earned the starting CB spot with Cam. Dude put in some work !!
  14. I agree and have said so before COB. Knowing Perrine is one of the better blocking backs, how do you not try to bring him back? To make matters worse, he goes to KC. I look at him the same way I look at Terrace Marshall. They couldn’t get rid of 1-2 scrubs to get those two in here? Maybe they tried, maybe those guys will suck. I’m just not thinking that’s the case case with Perrine and Marshall would have had great familiarity here. Yeah, irritates me.
  15. Some men, you just can't reach. "Cool Hand Luke" "Civil War" intro Guns and Roses Well done COB !!
  16. In my opinion, is the lack of movement with a Higgins trade was not predicated on his performance falling in 2023. As I mentioned before, there was no team will to give him even Michael Pittman money, while simultaneously giving up the draft capital the Bengals were asking for. Again, Higgins will have the truck backed up this offseason by some team and it will surpass the Pittman deal. I would place a bet on that. While some may say, Higgins has never done "X", what he has done has been accomplished as the #2 WR playing next to Chase and in an offense with many receiving options. I'm not going to go looking, but I would be curious how many WR's have had over 3600 yards receiving, 24 TD's and averaging more than 14 yards per catch, while at the same time playing next to another WR as talented as Chase. He's also has had playoff success with over 450 receiving yards and another 3 TD's over two post season games. I agree that Chase's contract will have to hinge on the fact the Bengals could control him for a period of time and I would hope that would be taken into consideration if they should happen to do a new deal this season. Thing is, I don't expect that to happen. While I think they should get Chase extended, I'm betting on it happening right around this time next year. That being the case, I don't expect his overall contract, guaranteed money or per season average to be less than what we are thinking right at the moment. Not a chance the Bengals don't make him one of, if not the top paid WR in the game. For those solely thinking stats dictate that value (I am not) it will be interesting to see how his 4 year stat totals stack up to JJ, Lamb and Aiyuk seeing as how they signed their deals after their 4th year. In all honesty, I don't expect Chase to go anywhere. It would shock more if that happened. Just get him back to practicing and be ready for week 1.
  17. In 4 years Aiyuk has 200 yards more than Chase. 4 less receiving TD’s. 10 more 1st down conversions. And slightly more yards per catch at 14.6 vs 13.9. Chase has basically equaled or surpassed Aiyuk in one fewer season. Anyone thinking Chase isn’t getting $30m plus per season just isn’t paying attention. The report also shows that had the 49er’s not been such cheap asses, they could have had the deal at $27m per season until they waited and other players signed extensions. Just an example of contracts going up even in a short amount of time. I get that there may not be many big deals between now and next offseason, but that price isn’t falling.
  18. Well Aiyuk just got a new deal at $30 per year.
  19. Considering that 12 years ago he bought the team for $1 billion, I’d say that’s a pretty good return on investment. We all should be so unfortunate…
  20. Jackson was designated to return, so there's some silver lining.
  21. Sucks for Jackson. I was hoping to see him this year.
  22. I will have the DVR running for that one. It's ArmyBengal Jr.'s senior year in high school and we are opening the season in Indianapolis to watch his Texans take on the Colts. I have really grown to love the Texans over the years of my son rooting for them. Going to Indy and Houston with him is a lot of fun. I'm selfishly hoping he decides to stay close to home for college, so we can keep going to games together. He's a good kid !! However, if we wouldn't have been in Indy, we definitely would have been at the Bengals home opener.
  23. Perrine's value "to me" was as a blocking back more than anything. More than that was just a bonus. That being said, he's a hell of a blocking back so I always liked him. No, I don't want the Chiefs having another player that affords Mahomes more time in the pocket. I hope you suck Perrine !!! lol
  24. But but collusion... All players should have fully guaranteed contracts right? Stupid Browns.
  25. Yeah, I don't think there was much of a sniff for Tee, not because he wasn't worth top end money, but because they would have had to given him top end money, while also giving up draft capital in the process. I don't think I would be in favor of the Bengals doing that for another player either. Bet if Tee has another solid season this year, someone, some team will back the bank truck up to his place. Like I said, I could be wrong, but if the cap keeps going up, there's no way contracts go down. Agents won't let that shit happen. When the cap goes up by $30m, teams aren't worried about another $5m more for someone. Most know that over the course of the next season or two, that contract is going to be viewed as a bargain. Honestly, it's a shitty cycle.
