Stripes
Scuffle breaks out in Bengals locker room By Mark CurnutteEnquirer staff writerThe open locker room period for media at noon today at Paul Brown Stadium was punctuated by a physical altercation involving two Bengals players.Defensive lineman Carl Powell picked up defensive back Reggie Myles and threw him down. The incident occurred in the equipment room, adjacent to the locker room, and touched off a 20-minute shouting match that spilled into the locker room and involved several other Bengals players. The confrontation was believed to be the result of horse-play gone too far. Myles was restrained by teammates, including tight end Tony Stewart, the team’s union representative.A couple of players, led by defensive end Justin Smith, rushed into the equipment room to break up Powell and Myles. Powell is a 278-pound seventh-year player. Myles weighs 195 pounds.“This ain’t Chicago,” one player yelled in reference to the incident in which Bears offensive lineman Olin Kreutz punched teammate Fred Miller and broke Miller’s jaw.Myles, clutching the face mask of a helmet, was led out of the equipment room by a small group of players that included defensive tackle Bryan Robinson and offensive linemen Willie Anderson, Levi Jones and Bobbie Williams.Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said through the team’s media relations department that he had no comment on the incident and that it would be handled internally.Myles broke away from the players and went back into the equipment room to pursue Powell. He again was led out by teammates.Rookie linebacker Odell Thurman got into a shouting match with some of the veteran players who had led Myles out of the equipment room.Linebackers coach Ricky Hunley entered the locker room and talked with Thurman and several other players.Media are allowed into the locker for 45 minutes four times a week to interview players, an arrangement set by the NFL. Players often eat their lunches at their lockers over the noon hour, too.http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs....SPT02/311170010

HairOnFire
Until more is learned I wouldn't make too much out of it. It doesn't sound football related, just another example of somebody tiring of a spaz he has to share space with.

That's not that bad.

Yeah, and apparently Myles isn't finished with making boneheaded mistakes this season because the article states he went back for Powell after getting body slammed and then escorted from the area. Stripes
It also sucks that Odell felt the need to get involved. Yeah, I thought that was the hardest part to read. C'mon rook, stay focused! Rather than joining in on the little fight, you should be watching film preparing to face the Edge.
NJ29
Honestly, something pretty close happened this year on my team. It happens. Nothing bad came out of it. We actually won our next game 41-14.
TJJackson
ah no, not my main man Reggie.(see pic to the left)sheesh....after such a great year last year on special teams, and with UFA on his horizon at the end of the season, you'd think better things were in store for him this year......ah well....I hope he was just sent home to cool off, and isn't suspended or released..... Whur CHad At?
Reggie would of kicked Carl's old @$$ even if he 88 lbs. less than him.Nothing to worry about...this shouldnt effect our play on Sunday.
ShulaSteakhouse
Reggie's a nut case! I really like the guy though and hope it blows over, and it should.I am not real happy about Powell physically assaulting the guy off the field though like that - but who knows what happened. Or Odell getting into it with the vets - I hope Marv can smooth this over it sounds like a good portion of the team was involved!
HoosierCat
Shrug. S**t happens. Besides, it's Myles and Powell. Not as if Carson slugged Chad or something. My guess is just that everyone's keyed up. They haven't played in two weeks, it's a big game, basically Sunday can't come fast enough. Good sign, IMHO. benglsdrumr
I believe the fight broke out when Reggie offered Carl his PB & J sandwich for 2 of Carl's chocolate cupcakes and Carl refused it. That's when Reggie grabbed one of the cupcakes when Carl wasnt looking which began the physical altercation...

I understand the point you're making, but my first reactions wasn't it's Myles and Powell. Instead my first thought was...it's Myles. Everytime I've heard him interviewed I've wanted to punch that guy. BTW, ESPN just reported that two Ram coaches also exchanged punches at practice today. Wilbert Montgomery and Steve Fairchild. benglsdrumr
'Tis the season to be jolly! right?! right?! anybody?! Anyway, while people are busy fighting, I thought I could get in the mix and knock out bad referees such as Triplett and his crew. Don't remember if his crew was officiating the Pitt vs. Bengals game but whichever crew was, I'd love to get a piece of 'em.
BengalszoneBilly
Hey, I'm lovin' it! It shows there's some f**kin' intensity in the Bengals Locker Room. I hope it continues, and spills over into Sundays game, where it will be a virtual free fire zone full of Colts players who are yet (IMO) to be seriously hit this season! bengalindian
I agree with Billy. It was just a little scuffle. I mean, Kellen Winslow said it best when he said "It's a war out there...and I'm a f**king soldier!!"
walshfan
Lettin of steam fellas...Myles is a prankster and if he was prankin Powell it may have been the wrong time.. altercations happen in every lockeroom... We're talking about big men playing a violent sport.. This isnt two bankers getting annoyed ..Odell lives with Myles until his house is built.. He's stickin up for his partner would be my guess... They'll go out and have a beer tonight and forget it...
pedroza29
Marvin won't let this get to the team. I'm sure that he has taken care of the situation already. Don't be surprised if Reggie doesn't play Sunday, though, Marvin doesn't take any crap this year. Championship teams don't have this crap on their team is what he is telling them I bet. bengalindian
Plus, I don't know who yelled it, but whoever it was right when he said this isn't Chicago. It's Cincinnati, and we're too pansy to break a teammate's jaw here.

Reggie yelling at Carl Plowed why he (Myles) should be active Sunday over Carl. Something like, "You wouldn't even be on a NFL team if you weren't up Marvin's a$$."
