Stripes Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 What better way for that man to redeem himself in the eyes of this fanbase (if he really did have an ounce of guilt) than to return to our fine team and sack Big Ben a couple times? Do I want him? No. We can do better. In regards to the free agents that everyone has been talking about around here... I looks like they don't expect to make the Archuleta deal (and according to Hobson that's not even possible anyways).Al: Let's see, who could use a safety? How about New England, who may have been hurt by poor safety play all season more than any other team in the league. Vivek: Archuleta can replace the aging Corey Chavous in Minnesota.First off, I'd say the team most affected by poor safety play was the one in stripes. If we do have the money or any intentions to put that money to good use, I'd think Archuleta would rather play here than Minnesota. It'd be hard to pass on the Patriots though. They don't see us in the running for Nate Clements or John Abraham either. Neither of them look too enticing to me anyways. On a positive note, they seem to expect the Ravens and Steelers to lose some pretty big names, possibly including Antwaan Randle El, Jeff Hartings, Deshea Townshend, Will Demps, Chris McCalister, Jamal Lewis, and Chester Taylor. Tasher Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Wow!Somehow, no matter what, I just cannot see Kimo making the second go round in Cincy after what happened in the playoffs.Staying away from Palmer in practice not withstanding. (No pun intended!) Quote
kingwilly Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Kimo is better than Thornton. I'd consider him an upgrade.I'd be surprised if Dallas took Kit....doesn't make much sense. I see Dalla taking an Omar Jacobs in r2. Quote
HoosierCat Posted February 10, 2006 Author Report Posted February 10, 2006 They don't see us in the running for Nate Clements or John Abraham either.Well, they don't see us in the running for anyone...except for a 36-year-old DT whose signing would likely provoke a march to burn down PBS. (And no, Willy, he isn't an upgrade.) Sadly, I think in that regard the football outsiders crew is probably spot on. Quote
kingwilly Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 ...my comment isn't so much an endorsement of Kimo more of an implication that Thornton is no good. Quote
BigBenBlows Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I really hope they wouldn't take Kimo back. They need some D help but PLEASE don't take the kneeshotter back in the Natti! Quote
Dan2330 Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Notice how this list of players has only one possibly going to the Bengals, and that is the one who makes the least amount of sense in Kimo. Kimo, which I found out is French for 'cheap shot', would have problems tackling Who Dey the mascot. Quote
HairOnFire Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Am I the only one who thinks Vivek Rangopal, one of the so-called experts, sounds like a character from the "Simpsons". Perhaps an evil convenience store owner from Punjab who forces a hostile takeover of Apu's store? Then again, perhaps not. Moving on, I thought it was a pretty worthless article. The Kimo angle seemed to be built solely on the ability to make a joke about him and Palmer while the talk about Kitna having so many options that the Bengals are in danger of being squeezed out had me in stitches. Regardless of if he stays or leaves, the Bengals biggest potential error involves paying too much for his marginal talent. While it's true that Kitna can't be replaced quickly he can be replaced easily....and I won't shed a single tear if that's the way it plays out. Last, I'd try to keep in mind that there are about three phases of free agency and the Bengals strongest efforts usually target the better players in the 2nd group. Pace yourselves. Quote

I see Dalla taking an Omar Jacobs in r2.Yeah Dallas definitely looks like they'll be in the market for a Day 1 QB.Unfortunately, Kitna going to the Ratbirds sounds a lot more plausible. If he can pick up on Rex Ryan's grunts between meals, Kitna might communicate a whole about the Bengals offense that the Ratbirds could use. Even with a hunk of junk like Boller at QB there now, hard to think Kitna would start unless the wheels completely fall off for Boller.I do believe if Kitna goes to Baltimore just for more money than the Bengals offer, I'd have to call him Judas Kitna. ShulaSteakhouse Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I wouldn't mind seeing Clements as a weakside CB here. I like the idea that, instead of waiting to revamp the entire front line (4-5 players), get a solid FA CB and draft or sign a very good SS, and with Madeiu and Deltha, you have possibly the best DBfield out there. (and James is back for another year and could be a better nickle possibly)better man cover corners will free up the safeties to do more, they will probably have to address the d-line in the draft any ways. There's just nothing on the FA market this year at DE or DT worth paying much. Quote
KRUNKJUICE Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I think we get Will Demps. Marvin drafted him in Baltimore, he shouldn't cost too much and he's definitely and upgrade over Ohalete. Quote
DontPushMe Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I dont care if kimo would be an upgrade for our team. I never want too see him in a bengals jersey again. I could not get over his hit that quickly, if ever. Hopefully he goes somewhere like Arizona. Quote
kingwilly Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Maybe Kimo will go to a hotspot like Houston...all in all, he'll end up in NO playing in the Supertoiletdome.Dexter Jackson is out there...as is Will Allen. Two very good vet DB's. Quote
turningpoint Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Corey Dillon might be hitting that running back wall, and as much as it would be out of character for Bill Belichick to go after a big-name free agent, Edge would be nice in a New England jersey.BWAHAHAHA I'd laugh so hard is NE dumped Dillon.also an interesting note I read Booger mcfarland, might be a cap casualty in TB...love to see him in stripes. Kazkal Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 what about we get Keyshawn Johnson for # 3 wr lol Quote
derekshank Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I think we get Will Demps. Marvin drafted him in Baltimore, he shouldn't cost too much and he's definitely and upgrade over Ohalete. Will Demps tore his ACL. The only way I'd be happy with him here is if we get him at the league minimum Quote

A nugget from Judge over at sportsline...Defensive backsBuyers shelled out the biggest bucks last year for free-agent cornerbacks, and there will be no shortage of suitors for Charles Woodson and Nate Clements. Woodson was the Raiders' franchise player, but don't look for Oakland to travel that road again. The question is: Considering his history of injuries -- he played only six games last season -- how high does the price go?Clements doesn't have the injuries, but he has the talent to command a high salary -- and look for him to seek it. Pittsburgh's DeShea Townsend and the Giants' Will Allen are potential free agents, but check out the depth at safety, folks. There is the Rams' Adam Archuleta. And Pittsburgh's Chris Hope, Miami's Lance Schulters, Carolina's Marlon McCree and Baltimore's Will Demps. It's a good year to shop for secondary help.Wild card: Woodson. He has worlds of talent, but he also has a history of injuries and questions about his attitude. Plus, he will be expensive. He cost the Raiders more than $10 million last season. "I'd be interested," said an AFC general manager, "but at what cost? Those injuries and his age (he turns 30 this year) scare me." Quote

I'm guessing they are less than 10 percent right overall about anything, and that's probably because they have some people staying with their current teams instead of being traded (talk about stupid journalism). However, if Vivek is indeed from Punjab, that means he's sweet, because that's where my family is from, and well, that's the best state in India. I wll be really disappointed if the Bengals don't target one or two of those guys and make a serious push for them. There's really no reason at all they can't sign at least one in the group mentioned above honestly. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Even with a hunk of junk like Boller at QB there now, hard to think Kitna would start unless the wheels completely fall off for Boller.Unless the wheels completely fall off!?! For a QB who was drafted by the Ravens for his alleged prowness as a QB and the accuracy of his arm while in college at Cal, I'd say not only have the wheels fallen off, but the engine's thrown a rod, the battery has shorted, and the plates expired in 2004! As to the probability of Jon going to the Ravens, I belive it's high. BUT...from looking at the stats of all NFL QB's below, I can't see Jon Kitna NOTgetting the starting job against Baltimore's bottom dwelling brace of ball throwing Bozo's! Let's keep it somewhat real here. Brian Billick can toot Kyle's horn all he wants, but when your QB rating is making Micheal Vick's look good, then there's no denying it...you SUCK! So I wouldn't be shocked in the least to see Kitna under center for Baltimore the next time we play them. Good for him. He deserve's a shot. Quote
