The_Next_Big_Thing Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Sources close to Bratkowski say that he will have a head coaching job next season. It will either be coaching for Oakland, New Orleans, or the pee wee club in Middletown. Quote
kayaker0678 Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 lets hope middle town or we could trade him for Norv Chow Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 After another seasons worth of overly predictive offensive play calling, I dearly hope he moves on. See ya Bob! It's been real, and it's been nice. Too bad it wasn't real nice though! Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 I'd rather see Breshnahan go somewhere else as well as Paul Alexander...Bratkowski is the last coaching assistant I'm worried about. The offense here was a mess for 10 years or more until Brat got here.I have to give him props for it's success...play calling here is an overrated issue - he does need to learn how to use his personnel better.Just MO. Quote
Spain Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Yeah but Shula had years to get it in place. If he goes he will suck at his new team. I wouldnt take the guy. Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Has he even interviewed with NO yet? I have heard the Saints came out real high on Donnie Henderson. Oakland is also suppose to of be real high on Jim Fassell Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 I don't think Brat is NFL head coaching material yet - he was a TE's coach not too long ago before coming here as coordinator. Not sure the over-all experience and pedigree is there yet for him. They could bring Bill Walsh back here and people will still complain about the play calling, no matter who it is.I just find it funny that we all complain about how bad the defense is, and has been, for 3 years running now, yet all people want to do is run the o-coordinator out of town? But everyone's fine with the job Breshnahan's doing even though his unit finishes next to last in the defensive rankings?I don't get it...not at all, just as stupid as the people who think Brett Favre would come here to hold a clipboard for Palmer, doesn't make any sense to me. Quote
Kirkendall Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Has he even interviewed with NO yet? There's no yet about it. He's not on the Saints "short-list" of interviewes... Quote
kingwilly Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 The reason Brat is getting hammered is because he seems unable to handle playing from behind, makes very poor playcalls at critical moments and, if the last two years are any indication, does not learn from obvious mistakes. Brat treats this offense as if he had a ferrari and only takes it to the drag strip....Bres is not getting hammered for a few reasons. First he does not have the players. SS, FS go down with injuries, D-line underachieves and you have two rookies on the LB corp, Odell shined while Pollack barely got up to speed. The secondary, while opportunistic, needed more consistency but an aging Tory James, who was beatene by pump fakes and head bobs all year, cost us several big plays. Bres is still assembling his ferrari but has been forced to rally it with crappy tires and no paint....Brat needs to realize that Rudi is a machine and Perry could be a hollow-tip in his scheme....The game is not just about having Carson light it up. You need to be able to win a game several ways, I don;t think he gets that. Quote
richmond_mat Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Don't tease me like this. I was all ready to offer my congratulations to Brat. Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 MAYBE Oakland. Al has a history of hiring offensive coaches and Brat has that vertical passing game Al just loves. We need to get a poll going. Whatever the odds end up being I'm voting he gets a head coaching job at.......NOWHERE. Quote
walshfan Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Brat....probably stay here unless another OC job with bigger salary comes along..Bres... staying put until more pieces are in place.. good turd polishing this yearDLC Jay Hayes.. does he teach anything besides a bull rush?TEC Jon Hayes... great job working with schobel and teaching him to block efficiently No?OLC Paul Alexander... credible.. but look at the talent he has...has Ansrews made progress ?? what will he do with Kieft, Guycheck and the other youngsters in the future that werent supposedly blue chippers?WRC ...Hue Jackson... this guy is good...knows a quality receiver when he sees one and seems to get the most out of themZamp... great QB coach.. does that translate into a good OC? His dad sure wasLBC. Ricky Hunley....I dont think he did a good job with our linebackers.Who stays next year????? Quote
BengalByTheBay Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 I heard an interview on the radio yesterday here about Oakland's coach list. They didn't even mention Brat. -- for what that's worth. Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Bresh goneHunley will stay, he did alrightHayes GoneZamp will stay he should be OC tho...Brat should go but I think it would be bad for the offenseAlexander will stay, he does a very good job w/ players. Good Coach Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Fair enough on Breshnahan Willy - differing opinions but THANK YOU for actually explaining why you felt that way - all I ask.I am curious as to why anyone thinks Paul Alexander has done such a great job?I noticed Goff is an all-pro now in San Diego - isn't that funny? But he was even good enough to make the roster here and constantly underachieved???Is everyone aware that Alexander has the 2nd most offensive responsibility next to Brat? (blocking schemes, play calling, game plans and assistant head coach)Never liked the guy, never will, and picking two o-lineman from the same small D-I MAC school I found highly suspicious and wasn't impressed with Ghuiciac in the least.I also remember players making fun of Alexander as a coach years ago and how bad he was and how little he knew, after they left here.Talk about a guy that's been around here too long and is nothing but a reminder of the horrible 90's era - nothing but a Brown family favorite hanging onto his job because he's a butt kisser probably. He's done nothing worthwhile here and owes his career to guys like Willie Anderson and Rich Braham...dude hasn't developed a single draft pick - they were either good coming out of college already, or a FA.<end rant on Alexander> Quote
Stripes Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Does all this mean Brat is still here? Well crap. See what happens when you get your hopes up? Quote

That would be the ultimate development project. Track star to NFL lineman. Quote

Whur CHad At? Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Bresh sucked in Oakland, and he is repeating that track here. He still has no clue what the HELL he is doing. Quote

Bresnahan is a great coordinator. It's just a WEE bit hard for your D to play well when you have lames like Ife and JT starting for you... Quote

This guy is a solid coach, and I think will be on the Bengals staff for many years to come.Bresh sucked in Oakland, and he is repeating that track here. membengal Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 By the way, for those of you scoffing at the notion of Bratkowski being wanted somewhere, let me say that if the San Francisco 49ers' offensive coordinator can get a head coaching job (enjoy Mike McCarthy Green Bay fans), anyone can...
