AMC Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 "less damage than expected"....sweet...he will be back for the regular season hopefully, if not for most of training camp....I see the coaches sitting him in training camp and pre-season alot anyway... Quote
Stripes Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Good deal. I look foward to seeing many more deep balls in the not-so-distant future.I don't know who the Pro-Bowl alternate is... but with Palmer and Brees down, could it be Roethlisberger? Ugh..... Quote
semiotter Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Righ now deep in a dark corner of "Heinz Field" Coach Cowturd is drawing up next years play to take out Carsons RIGHT KNEE Naw just joking thats the best news. I am glad it went well Quote
derekshank Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 The Pro bowl alternate is Jake Plummer. As for Carson's knee... I will be exceptionally pleased if he is there for the season opener. He'll be able to toss around for training camp... but to expect him to be football ready by training camp still seems like dreaming to me. Quote
HoTbOy Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Very good to read, I hope he is ready by training camp, i looks like they got a very good Dr. to do the surgery Quote
Stripes Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 The Pro bowl alternate is Jake Plummer. Good deal. The NFC secondary will have a chance to make some plays too. Quote
Chopjaw Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Update: Palmer (knee) is expected to miss at least "eight or nine months" if all goes well with surgery to repair his torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL), reports the Cincinnati Enquirer. Recommendation: "Carson's injury is a lot more complicated than the average ACL injury," his surgeon Dr. Colosimo said. "There are multiple ligaments involved and he essentially dislocated his knee. It's a more complicated operation, and a more complicated course of recovery." An eight-to-nine month recovery would mean that Palmer is likely to miss most, if not all of training camp and could conceivably not be ready for the start of the season. We will continue to update his progress throughout the offseason. This sucks for you. I was/will be looking forward to a long and heated rival with your bunghole fans.... Quote

Check the Palmer's injury is atypical thread. The kneee is better than originally thought, and eight months is the beginning of next season Quote
Sox Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Apparently the knee brace DID help.It kept his knee from being dislocated. Quote

ShulaSteakhouse Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Best thing I've heard since Sunday:"This is a serious injury," said Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis, "but we are told the procedure went very well. We know Carson, and we know he will apply himself fully to his rehabilitation. This result encourages our feeling that Carson will be ready to open the 2006 season as our starting quarterback."Basically, if all goes as planned, Carson should be in the starting lineup for next season's opener.Bengaldom should be rejoicing - this projection completely changes my outlook for next season.Once his knee is healed - it's healed - it should not affect his ability whatsoever, nor should it cause them to hold him out of games or practice once it's healed and stable, except for purely precautionary reasons. What this team's management needs to seriously consider at this point - investing heavily in offensive lineman that can protect him better - in particular a stud center and guard - like the Pats and Indy have done to keep Manning and Brady so healthy. No one touches those guys, and if someone does, it's big news. Quote

If the Bengals invest in linemen, IMO they better be defensive linemen! I believe the offensive line is presently the much stronger of the two. Quote

If the Bengals invest in linemen, IMO they better be defensive linemen! I believe the offensive line is presently the much stronger of the two.then why has Palmer's last two seasons ended early because of injury? Because defenders are pounding his legs and body too often...despite the low sack #'s - missing blocks and having your QB get mangled is unacceptable to me - you need to set higher standards than that.If Braham blocks Kimo out on that play like he should, Palmer goes on and wins that game. Braham needs to go - and they will replace him with someone and some mid-round Central Michigan Paul Alexander crap pick is not what i'm talking about. When Merriman owned Manning it was big news, that guy never gets hit.thus my point....like our defense, I think fans here tend to overrate these player units as a whole...confusing competence with exceptional performance...this isn't just the 0-lineman, but the Rb's and TE's also who are missing blocks and not doing their jobs (Perry for instance, and Kelly having a terrible game Sunday as well). The bar has been raised - I no longer accept has-been's and over-the-hill types and project draft picks to protect Palmer - he is too valuable to cut corners on.I'm only talking about the C, G and TE positions really.I guarantee you Marvin would agree those spots need upgrades. HairOnFire Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Braham needs to go - I'm now adding Rich Braham to the long and growing list of players Bengal fans would now like to throw under the 11-5 playoff bus. Quote

I am mostly shocked that some of the fans around here have not tried to make him a Safety first. You know, because we apparently cannot draft one... Quote
buck3y3d Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Braham needs to go -This is stupid. Braham is one of the most underrated players on the Bengals. The O-line is the best part of the team. Palmer is rarely hit, go look at his hurried statistics, do you ever see him throw on the run? His injuries were unlucky, not the o-line's fault. Quote
cincy9275 Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 i believe that is was steinbach that was blocking kemo not braham . so far so good with carson hope for the best. Quote
Stripes Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 i believe that is was steinbach that was blocking kemo not braham . so far so good with carson hope for the best. Indeed it was Steinbach. Gotta wonder what had been going through his head during and after the game. Playing such a big role in the demise of a great and long awaited season would surely weigh heavily on my mind. Quote
HairOnFire Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Yeah, but Steinbach is a young player who received Pro bowl recognition. There's no way anyone is going to throw him under the playoff bus. But fan anger demands that somebody has to pay for Palmer's injury and since Steinbach is a valuable young building block that means has to be the NEXT closest guy. Thus, it's Braham who has to go. It's all very logical. Quote
andybren Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Weren't we like 2nd to Indy for fewest sacks given up? The injuries to Carson suck, but it hardly means our o-line needs an overhaul.EDIT: Turns out I'm right. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/statistics?s...r=2005&season=2 Quote
