membengal Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 If it's a "simple" ACL/MCL tear, he should be full speed by November, worst case scenario. If he has, God forbid, torn his PCL too, well, then, yes, next season is done and his career would be in doubt.I think it is way WAY too early to be worrying about this. cincy9275 Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 that worst case senerio thats not going to happen at the latest i believe end of preseason maybe. lets hope for the best Quote
palmermvp Posted January 9, 2006 Author Report Posted January 9, 2006 I know its hard to do but maybe rooting for another team would be a good move. I mean damn, how much heart break can a person take from one team? I know alot of you will say well good bye we don't need fans like you but its really not fair to say that anymore. This team has been set back for a long time now with Carson being hurt like this. How ,ong have the Bengals been searching for a great QB? We finally get one and BOOM! He's done. Even if he is able to return, the knee will always be weak and one hit can do it again. Worst bengal game in history! Quote
andybren Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 I know its hard to do but maybe rooting for another team would be a good move. For Christsakes, shut up! Just when I thought it wasn't possible to over-react any more, the people on this board continue to surprise me. You make me embarassed to be a Bengals fan. Check that, you make me embarassed that YOU'RE a Bengals fan. Go find another team. Please. Quote
Grendel Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 I say resign Kitna. For not playing in awhile I think he did a good job in the first half. So if Carson does have to miss the season, you know Kitna has starter experience. He was there for the 8-8 seasons. For some reason the team seemed to let that bad snap on the field goal try get them down. I still say Who Dey!! Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Carson will be fine. Kitna will stay a Bengal. Quote
eclipse99t Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Haha, guys, we're spazzing a bit too much.I'd like to direct you to a certain Fiesta Bowl where a certain amazing OSU team beat a certain Miami team in double OT. I'd like to direct you to Miami's outstanding running back, a certain Mr. Willis McGahee. I'd like to direct you to the fact that his knee got completely owned, and the kneecap went completely backward, and the tore pretty much the ACL, MCL, and PCL.I'd like to ask you what he is doing now. As a RUNNING BACK. Carrying the load for an offense. Carson will never be a Michael Vick, we all knew that. Thankfully, he doesn't have to be.Be levelheaded, folks. Quote

This is very bad and it really will set this franchise back who knows how long. It's not bad for a QB to tear his acl/mcl? This 6 month recovery is BS, his knee is ##cked up bad. Quote

redsrule2500 Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 I've always thought kitna was a good QB, but he is no Carson Palmer Quote
dave Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Chris Mortenson just reported that it's a torn ACL/MCL but that the docs say the ACL tear was clean and he should definintely be back for training camp.Tom Jackson is criticizing the Steelers for being overly chippy early in the game.TJ: "Carson Palmer is Elway-like..." skyline Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Yes, ESPN is reporting that it IS two ligaments. ACL/MCL. Apparently they are both clean tears, however, which is supposed to mean faster healing. Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Worst game I've ever watched as a Bengals' fan.Kitna's awful and I sure hope they find someone better if Palmer is going to get hurt a lot. But I'm sure Palmer will be back to start next season it sounds like, just a bad cheap shot by Kimo he should get fined for at least. The rest of the game was pathetic to be honest and while I'm happy they got where they did this year (it's a start), the Palmer injury just killed me.Make some big moves in the off season and hope Palmer can go in training camp. Put iron casts on his knees. Quote
duus Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Sent the ground level picture to a big old Steeler fan "friend" of mine. Before I sent it, I made him promise to be open minded. After seeing it, he said he changed his mind. He said it sure looked like Kimo knew what was happening. Yeah, you think so?Just stinks. No grapes. Just stinks. Quote

Put iron casts on his knees.Kitna played well for the situation he played in. I would like to see footage of the recievers on the plays where he had forever to throw. To me, they looked like coverage sacks. His interceptions were results of trying to do too much. He didn't want to get sacked and felt like he had to make a play. Quote

HoosierCat Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 from hobson...Palmer left PBS before the game on crutches and wearing a knee brace with a date for surgery yet to be determined. Players with ACL surgery typically don’t reach their top form for another year, but that could be speeded up for a quarterback. A rehab usually takes six to eight months, which takes him out of all of the spring camps and puts arrival at training camp in question.“I knew right away it was bad,” Palmer said in a statement through the Bengals public relations department. “I felt my whole knee pop. I didn’t feel a lot of pain. It wasn’t really painful. It was just a sickening feeling because I knew what it was and my season was over.“I’ve never had an injury this serious in my career. I know it’s going to be a long road back, but it’s a long way until the next training camp. I’m going to work my butt off and come back better than ever. It’s over, but I’m looking forward to next season. I believe we have a great team, and we had a season that’s something to build on. I feel bad right now for what happened, for our team and for our fans, but at the same time I’m excited thinking about next year.”von Oelhoffen, a 1994 Bengals sixth-round draft pick who went to Pittsburgh as a free agent after the 1999 season, apologized. “To him and to his family and the Bengals. I wish it didn’t happen to him, but that’s the wish we all take when we play this game.“I was playing football and he was playing football. No more, no less. That’s all it is,” von Oelhoffen said when asked if the Bengals accused him of a cheap shot. “They can say what they want. They had every right to be upset. They lost their best player, but I hope he gets better. He’s a hell of a football player. There are going to be some wars the next few years against this team.”Most Bengals approached after the game said they like von Oelhoffen, as does center Rich Braham, who played with him here. So did Willie Anderson, who said it wasn’t cheap. But wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh disagreed.“I think the play was a cheap shot, but I don’t think he’s the kind of guy to do that. I think it was a dirty play, but it wasn’t purposeful,” Houshmandzadeh said.Lewis would only say he wanted a penalty flag for roughing the quarterback. But he was clearly upset because he brought up Roethlisberger’s “cheap shot” comment last month on Bengals middle linebacker Odell Thurman when he hit him in the knees.“Gee whiz, the guy got hurt. You can’t get it back,’ Lewis said. “To sit there and baby and cry like their quarterback, it’s ridiculous.”Palmer didn’t leave PBS until some of his teammates came into the training room to check on him at halftime, and they were amazed to find him acting no differently.“I couldn’t tell if he got hurt or if he got thrown out of the game,” said backup quarterback Jon Kitna, who brought a 17-14 lead into the locker room. “He told me to just keep doing it.” Quote
CT Stiller Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 My girlfriend is a casual football fan.And she was like "WTF is that guy doing ?""That was dirty as hell !"Then when it was over she said ..."Well they shouldthank whoever took Carson Palmer out."Oh, then I'm convinced it was a dirty hit if your girlfriend says so.Guys, it was NOT a dirty hit, you can see it in the replay. Kimo was blocked down, his head was down, he grabbed at his legs to go for the sack and even tried to keep him upright after he got knocked into him. The guy who blocked him into him, Steinbach I think, even said it was not blatant. Quote

But I do think there is a difference between intentional and dirty. I think this is a dirty way to "try to get the sack". Seriously, not many guys would grab with the forearm directly at the knee and keep twisting to get the sack. Did he intentionally injure him? Of course not. Would most guys tackle this way? No. Quote
