Spain Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 I can think of at least 15 backs better than him. How many 100 games this guy have for all those carries. How mant times he gettin caught in the back field. He just aint all that. We should start Perry. Quote

alleycat Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 Not to stoke the ongoing debate, but the color announcer in the game today pointed out something I've been noticing a lot lately. Rudi often doesn't see the hole. Often blockers don't get the angle on their man that they want so they smash him into the pile leaving a hole against the grain. Rudi almost never looks for these. He just slams his body into the pile and hopes he finds some give. Watch the normal Broncos running game. Their whole approach is based on the back cutting against the grain and they have huge success.p.s. The reason rudi has all the yards after contact is that unlike other runners who hit the hole then a defender four yards later, Rudi hits the defender first, then tries to drag them forward. I'd like to see a stat about how many yards individual runners have BEFORE contact. That would be a telling one, both for O-lines and running backs. Anyone know where to find it? Quote

I'd like to see a stat about how many yards individual runners have BEFORE contact. That would be a telling one, both for O-lines and running backs. Anyone know where to find it?That's because the Broncos use a slightly illegal scheme called a cut block. They drive the D-line one way, then smash them from behind. This is not the Bengals scheme and that is why Rudi doesn't run it. Corey Dillon did the same style when he was here, and i used to remember how many losses he would take. Finally, the O-line really fails to get a push a lot of times, and that is why Rudi is going down in the backfield. For every play where Rudi misses a hole, there are 5 where the o-line fails to get a push. Anyone know where to find it?Actually i do know this.Try taking total yards rushing and then subtracting yards after contact. Now, add approximately 40 yards for yards lost behind the line, and you will have a really close aproximation. Rudi's totals are about 180 to 200 prior to contact. Quote
UK Bengal Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 tbh we all need to learn to ignore any comments made by spain and bax as they wouldnt know how to support a team if they tried.stop the hateing on players u dumbass morons and get behind the team. i'm sure if i had the time to troll through previous posts i would find posts by both of u dumbasses backing rudi and cheering for him nut im not that sad and rally couldnt give a s**t what either of u think.6-2 atop of the afc north is what concerns me not u too morons as far as im concerned nither of you exist Quote
CBin2k7 Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 don't you think it might be a combination of things? I think the Bengals running game is very predictable. Other teams LB's can attack the hole because they know that there is very little threat for a cut back. All I know for various reasons Rudi hasn't run for 100 yds since the opener. Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 Yeah, Rudi sucks, let Perry play. Rudi hardly EVER has runs for negative yards. Perry has a lot of them.STFU Spain, you can't even spell the name of a future hall of fame QB named t Favre. Quote
kingwilly Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 Maybe the Pitt game was not enough of a wakeup call. GB is a poor, poor team and the Bengals, despite another amazing rash of INT's wins by a TD as GB is driving at the end of the game....I am not seeing much offensive rhythm or defensive discipline. Palmer struggled vs a very poor GB def. Hey, a win is a win, no one is going to give it back...but this team did not play that well, barley well enough to win vs a really poor GB squad.Tons of work to do if this team is going to challenge the Pitt or Indy... Quote
alleycat Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 We won't challenge pit or indy, or Denver or any other elite teams this year. Sorry, just being a realist about our weaknesses. But we shouldn't lose to Baltimore, which we will if we play like this next week. If the Offense keeps it up, the best we can hope for is that the D finally scores some points next week. I hope the Bengals stiffen up and prove me wrong, I really do. But I just don't see the talent there. Quote
Stripes Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 lol fan on the pitch wtfLadies and Gentlemen, who can identify their friend, relative, or coworker? He almost cost us the game giving Favre a free timeout! It wasn't me... Quote
