schweinhart Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 My memories of last year at Cle are all about the Clowns consistently going to the TE in the red zone. That killed us as our LB's were not making plays. Apart from the 99 yarder meltdown, which is not exactly something that they gameplanned or that hould happen again, we have to stop the TE. We did a good job keeping the rats and stains in the middle of the field but, for some reason, the clowns had more luck scoring. If we can do a better job there, although we will not shut them out, we should win. I think they have no answer to a balanced mix of Rudi, Perry, Chad, TJ. If CP can get a little more accurate we should have 1 or 2 big plays in the first half of offense and then grind. I think the most pleasant surprise of the pre-season for the Bengals was the running game/O-line play (1st team). I think we should be able to run the ball and that should = W. Prediction (fwiw) 17 - 6. That TE TD at the end of the 1st half was a back breaker. But it was pretty much a perfect pass just out of B-Simmons' reach. Their TEs don't seem like they should be much of a factor but they were. The 99 yarder was ridiculous and it was 1 of 3 big plays that sealed the game. Suggs pass down the sideline w/ Kevin Hardy trying to catch up and nobody behind him was another. Dennis Northcutt comeback on underthrown ball vs. O'Neal in man was another. The big plays given up by the D can't be repeated to get a W.In any event, the Clowns averaged 40 pts per game vs. Bengals last year At least Terry Robiskie got bounced. Welcome to the party pal. Nice first post.As for your game prediction, that means we'll be losing the game until the final seconds!!! If that happens, we can kiss the playoffs goodbye. We better be able to take the lead and hold onto it all game long. It's the BROWNS for Christ's sake! Quote

HairOnFire Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 A point that hasn't been made yet concerns the Browns FG kicker being in a major slump. He's really looked bad this preseason. If this is a close game, as half of us seem to think it will be, the Bengals might get a break. Quote

I see what your saying, but if we win big or even if we lose it does not necessarily mean s**t. We beat New England the year they won their first Super Bowl in week one and look what it did for us, then look what happened to them. However, I will be highly dissapointed if we lose this game but not if we win 23-20 with seconds left or whatever. A win on the road in the NFL is tough to come by and I'll take it however we can get it. Quote

I just want a big win, to give me confidence we're not in for another slow start, especially with Minnesota right around the corner. Quote
Ox Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 Other than the Bengals, I cannot wait to watch the Balt-Indy game. I hope the gotdamned ratbirds get beat down.Pitt looks like it could be ripe for an L too. We win Sunday, and all of a sudden Cincy is atop the North, and I'll take all the help we can get. First things first though, we've got to light up the brownies. Quote

The Big Orange Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 http://www.bengalszone.com/article.php?sid=317In case you didn't read my article "Padre's Picks"Bengals over Browns by 13.TJ catches for 150 yards and Trent Dilfer throws for 150 yards. Quote
schweinhart Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 Housh should have a field day vs. Ray Mickens out of slot in 3WR set....or w/ just 2 WR if McCutcheon don't play long or Bodden gets burned early.I hope CP comes out slinging because completions early will set up the run. I'm doubting Rudi cakewalks his way through the Clowns 3-4 D like he did last year in 2nd game vs. Clowns. But once they freeze the safeties and coverage LBs back further from line for pass defense, Rudi should have the time he needs to get through holes clean. Quote
