Indycat Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Adam KieftOT | (6'7", 337, 5.56) | CENTRAL MICHIGANStrengths: Has massive size. Is tall and has great bulk. Is well-proportioned. Has adequate reach and big hands. Has good lower body strength and even better upper body strength. Had 28-bench press reps of 225 pounds at the combine. Shows a powerful punch on film and the ability to jar defenders. He plays with a mean streak and will finish defenders off when in position. Once he locks on in pass pro he rarely loses. He can be overwhelming and overpowering as a run blocker. Will engulf defenders when he's in position and has the power to drive DL back off the LOS. He's a hard worker with good character and durability. Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Guess the budget was tight and Central Michigan, WVU and Georgia were the only schools scouted. Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 He's terrible he runs a 5.5 40. RIght TJ? Quote
membengal Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 So, was Central Michigan good last year?Because two fifths of their line are now in the NFL and in Cincinnati. Quote
Indycat Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Guess the budget was tight and Central Michigan, WVU and Georgia were the only schools scouted. Does seem a bit odd. Two lineman fron Central Michigan!! Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 His hobbies are eating and sleeping. He is a peice of crap. TERRIBLE PICK. What about Munoz!?!? COme on Marvin. STOP drafting players from the same school that was cool yesterday Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 This one confused me a little, I thought there were a lot of better players to be had and i can't believe hawthorne is still on the board. Message from the NFL "Don't do drugs kids" Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Like our C last round, anohter guy espn thinks can compete for a backup role... Overall: Kieft redshirted in 200 with a foot injury. He started 8-of-12 games in 2001 before becoming a fulltime starter in 2002. He started every game in 2002, 2003 and 2004. He was named second-team All-MAC in 2003 and first-team All-MAC in 2004. He finished his career with 43 starts. Kieft is a massive, powerful, right tackle prospect with good experience and durability. His lack of athletic ability is glaring but Kieft has enough size and strength to compete for a backup right tackle job in the NFL, which is why he grades out as a late-round prospect in the 2005 draft. AGrizzlyBaer Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 wont be a pulling o-line men then Quote
volcom69 Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 I dont know but kiper loves the two linemen we took he is very high on this guy to. Quote
Indycat Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 another thing Kieft and Ghiaciuc have in common (besides Central Michigan) is durability Quote
brooklyn_bengalfan Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 I thought the days of skimping on the scouts were over. What is this?It seems like Alexander, the O-Line coach has a connection he trusts at Central Michigan from his days there, but seriously, two guys from a small program, back-to-back? For the first time in this draft, I feel like Marvin has some explaining to do... Quote
alleycat Posted April 24, 2005 Author Report Posted April 24, 2005 Before we get all crazy, does anyone have access to his split and agility times? I can't ever remember seeing an offensive lineman running 40 yards during a game. I have a feeling he explodes out of the first 10, then gravity takes over and he's crawling by the end. But all we need is those ten. I can't find the link to the NFL.com pro days anymore. Quote
jjakq27 Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 I thought we'd take Mike Munoz with this pick. Quote
TJJackson Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Truly awful pick. Terrible.50-50 he makes the team, at best. Quote
bengalsfan33 Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 I thought we'd take Mike Munoz with this pick. That's who I'd rather had too. But I don't understand why we drafted two guys back-to-back from a smaller school. Quote
WHO DEY AGAIN? Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 I was thinking Munoz also. You could have moved him to guard. I really think they should have went D though...Shazor or Hawthorn would have made me happy. This is the only pick I disagree with, and who knows, we might get the other 2 anyway. :player: Quote
skyline Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 The 40 yard dash for an o-lineman means next to nothing. Like someone else said, when do you have see an offensive lineman run 40 yards in a game??What counts his his 5-10 yard explosion. Quote
BengalsAILD Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 I personally think these were two good picks(the o-line men). They allow us to replace the older Braham and Bobby Williams. They may be from a smaller school but some of the greatest in the NFL were from small schools. Quote

alleycat Posted April 24, 2005 Author Report Posted April 24, 2005 Good explosion. His 10 yard split is up there for O-line, too. Quote
jjakq27 Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2005/kieft_adamProspect Profiles Adam Kieft Position: Offensive Tackle College: Central Michigan Height: 6-7 Weight: 337 Hometown: Rockford, Mich. OVERVIEWRising star who came into his own during his last two years at Central Michigan. The new coaching staff at CMU helped Kieft develop into an outstanding drive blocker, as he helped pave the way for the Chippewas' running game that featured a 1,000-yard rusher in each of his four seasons as a starter. Built more like a basketball player, one of his most memorable moments in athletics was dunking on close friend and NBA player Chris Kaman (Los Angeles Clippers). Kieft earned three letters in track and two in football at Rockford High School. He was a first-team all-state selection in football. He added all-conference accolades and was the conference shot put champion in track. In football, he ranked 24th by the Detroit Free Press and 35th by the Detroit News and was a member of the Grand Rapids Press Dream Team. Kieft sat out the 2000 season with a left foot fracture and was granted a medical hardship. He moved into the starting lineup at right tackle in 2001 and shifted to the left side the following season. He became a dominant player in 2003, earning second-team All-Mid American Conference honors as he allowed only two sacks on 884 plays. He extended his starting string to 43 games in 2004, as he was accorded with first-team All-MAC honors. ANALYSISPositives: Has a huge frame with good mass and the ability to carry even more bulk … Not defined in the upper body, but has a thick chest, long arms, broad shoulders, big hips and bubble, long legs and thick thighs and calves … Knows how to use his reach and arm extension to keep defenders at bay … Uses his great size and strength to gain position quickly coming off the snap … More of a road grader type with adequate leg drive blocking for the running game … Shows good range and lateral movement in his pass set … Has the change-of-direction agility to get into position and a smooth kick slide … Even when he bends at the waist, he shows good recovery agility. Negatives: Has good strength, but for a player of his size, he should be stronger … Needs to be pushed in order to get the best of his ability, as he seems to go through the motions at times … Not the type that flashes consistent aggression … Needs to play until the whistle … Not a quick twitch type and is a bit of a waist bender who struggles to bend at his knees because of his tall, high-cut frame … Because of his sluggishness coming off the snap, he fails to deliver pop and explosion … Can be a mauler for the ground game, but keeps his base too narrow to generate the acceleration needed to work in space … Rarely used on traps or pulls because of his marginal quickness … Cannot be considered a good second level player because he struggles to adjust vs. movement … Flashes some punch and jolt, but is not consistent in landing his hands on an opponent. INJURY REPORT2000: Sat out the season after suffering a left foot fracture in fall camp. AGILITYCAMPUS: 5.39 in the 40-yard dash … 405-pound bench press … 575-pound squat … 325-pound hang clean … Right-handed. HIGH SCHOOLAttended Rockford (Mich.) High School, playing football for coach Ralph Munger … Earned three letters in track and two in football … First-team all-state selection in football … Added all-conference accolades and was the conference shot put champion in track … In football, he ranked 24th by the Detroit Free Press and 35th by the Detroit News and was a member of the Grand Rapids Press Dream Team. PERSONALHistory major … Had a 3.40 grade point average in the spring to raise his cumulative to 3.23 … Hobbies include eating and sleeping … His lifetime goal is to have fun … Son of Charles Kieft and Mary Bouwense … Born 8/21/82 … Resides in Rockford, Michigan Quote
EdwardG Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 It's nice to have some more depth on the o-line. You can never have enough huge guys who can move people. Quote
