HoosierCat Posted March 9 Author Report Posted March 9 The league continues its quest to make sure Mikey never signs a player to a second contract. ESPN: The Rams and star cornerback Trent McDuffie reached agreement Sunday on a record four-year, $124 million extension that includes $100 million guaranteed, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The new contract makes McDuffie, 25, the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 9 Author Report Posted March 9 Hobs with the FA preview. Comedy gold as always. Quote The Bengals have a plan, and if things go to plan, so be it. But if not, then next Monday and Tuesday become Pivot Days. It’s Pivot Day guys. Maybe. Who knows. But Pivot Day! Feel the excitement. Quote "We're open to anybody we think has life left in their NFL body," Tobin said. "If they're still playing at a high level, we're open to them." Unless their name is Hendrickson of course. Quote One principle that seems to be staying in place is their desire not to do long-term deals with money that balloons in the later years of a deal. The fear is it would leave them with an uncompetitive team in a future year. Yeah it’s much better to have an uncompetitive team this year. And the best part is, all they have to do is nothing! They can be so uncompetitive this year that they’ll surely win the championship next year! It’s a stone cold lock! 2 Quote

You mean like last off season? ‘24 defense was one of the worst in the league so they went out and attacked. Unfortunately, what they attacked was common sense and reason. They did nothing. Result,- worst defense in the league. So this year they really mean it! They’re going to go out and get those players! Right. 1 Quote
COB Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 The Bengals front office core strategy - the players have decisions to make, and the bengals have decisions to make. 1 Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 The Bengals seem to forget that free agency includes the caveat of the player “wanting” to play for them. They win the “most visits” battle but that because players are trying to drive up their price. 1 Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 Also, it doesn’t help when Ja’Marr has a fit about why the Bengals let Crosby go to the Ravens. Clearly Ja’Marr knows the defense needs to improve and that reads that the team isn’t as all in as it leads to believe. 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 9 Author Report Posted March 9 Ooof, that's gonna hurt. Quote The Dolphins will release quarterback Tua Tagovailoa after the start of the new league year in a move that will leave Miami with an NFL-record $99 million in dead money against the salary cap. The Dolphins announced their intention to release Tagovailoa in a statement Monday. A source told ESPN's Adam Schefter that Tagovailoa's release will be designated post-June 1, allowing the Dolphins to split the dead money over two years. The post-June 1 designation will leave the Dolphins with a $67.4 million dead hit against the salary cap in 2026, followed by $31.8 million in 2027. The move ends Tagovailoa's six seasons in Miami only one year into the franchise-record extension he signed in 2024. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 9 Author Report Posted March 9 I'll miss his hot girlfriend... Quote The Cincinnati Bengals are not tendering restricted free agent quarterback Jake Browning, who started 10 games over three seasons in relief of Joe Burrow, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Browning, 29, will become a free agent, but the Bengals are open to bringing him back, per the source. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 9 Author Report Posted March 9 Gary had been linked to the Bengals but I guess not. We all know how important those future fourth round picks are! Quote The Green Bay Packers are finalizing a deal that would send defensive lineman Rashan Gary to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round pick, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Gary recorded 7.5 sacks in the first seven games of 2025, and it looked like the 2019 first-round pick might finally be on track for his first double-digit sack season. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 Yeah, Rashan Gary was one of the big names discussed the Bengals supposedly were REALLY interested in. Like I said, the players have to want to come here too. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 9 Author Report Posted March 9 Some Twitter chatter about the Bengals now chasing Jalen Carter. Don’t know if it’s true but he reportedly has multiple suitors and is expected to reset the top of the DT market when he does sign, so I’m not expecting anything. Quote

ArmyBengal Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 Yeah, pivot to a less expensive and less impactful player. RUN IT BACK IN 2026 !!! Pivot motherfuckers !!! 1 Quote
Stripes Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 Alright, we've been in the legal tampering period for 3 minutes. Impress me. 1 Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 Here you go, the Bengals wouldn't muster up a 7th round pick for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, so the Jets did. I mean we have two 7th round picks this year. Get Bryan Cook and I won't look down on that miss. 1 Quote
Stripes Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 I can just imagine the front office, juiced up in their own way and ready to attack the offseason as all the reporters keep saying. Then teams start doing the things they always do, and the Bengals are shocked at the audacity. They gave up WHAT for WHO? They paid HOW MUCH? Pivots come when they expected the league to pinch pennies as conservatively as they do (despite that never happening even once since 1993). 1 Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 Hey Bengals it's 12:30pm... Do you know where your free agents are? Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 9 Author Report Posted March 9 Need pass rush? Panthers: sign Jaelan Phillips, 4 years, $120m, $80m guaranteed Bengals: pivoting, pivoting, pivoting! Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 9 Author Report Posted March 9 7 minutes ago, ArmyBengal said: That's big coin for Phillips Yup, but we all know that’s how it goes in FA. Well, all except the Bengals FO, which as stripes noted always seems caught by surprise every year at the numbers involved. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 9 Author Report Posted March 9 Ossai a Jet. 3 years, $36m, $22.5m guaranteed. Per Schefter. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 But wait, we build through the draft. Don't the Jets know what we are doing? Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 Honestly, I have to admit there's a part of me that hopes they do nothing just to watch the reaction from Ja'Marr, Joe and everyone else. The whole thing would just implode. It would actually be glorious to watch it all unfold and Mike sitting there having no idea what the fuck was going on. You know... like normal. 1 Quote
