Week 9: Bears @ Bengals

If we had real local media they would have been on Shemar during the summer.   He/his agent made up a reason to hold out.   The local guys buy his version despite other rookies without contracts participating.      It was fair back then and its fair now to question IF Shemar really wants to play NFL football.  

Even though Darnell Wright (Bears 1st round pick OT) is a becoming one of the leagues better RTs he dominated Stewart to a point you have to Stewart's pride.   Apparently whooped him so bad his knee hurts now. 

Off topic its not unthinkable for Mims to take the path of both Wright or Sewell were they really start to morph into elite status year 3.

Off topic a 2nd time: Wish those mocks that had us getting Wright with pick 60 or whatever during that draft were correct.   I think he went top 10.

As the old saw goes, the draft is a crapshoot. Stewart might be a flop so far, but it turns out that the cupboard is, for the moment, looking pretty bare at the point they drafted. At 19 the Hags took G Gray Zabel, who is currently graded below Fairchild at PFF. 20 was CB Jahdae Barron. I think he's got a pick. Harmon, another popular pick among Bengals fans, went to the Steelers at 21 and seems to have been a disappointment so far. The next trwo picks were a RB and WR, then G Donovan Jackson, whose PFF score is only about 5 points better than Fairchild's. The there was Dart and finally another DE at 26, Pearce, who has 2 sacks, tho also 20 pressures, so the Falcons have some hope there. Malaki Starks went next to Baltimore and that would have been my pick back then, but he's just been ok at best.

Bottom line, it wasn't a great year to be drafting high teens/low 20s.

For what it's worth, while not shitting on Stewart and wanting him to do well, I was big on Nick Emmanwori.
He has had a solid start to his season to this point and God knows we could have used better safety play.
