That being said, there are typically players that people just really like and want. Fortunately for me, that's Caleb Downs, but surely there is a player out there someone wants. Call it the draft's guilty pleasure. Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 4 Author Report Posted April 4 Love would be the least objectionable. Honestly if he’s there at 10 I might take him myself. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted April 4 Report Posted April 4 There you go Hoosier. Always at least one player not really thought to be an option that fans like. Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 6 Author Report Posted April 6 Love visiting the Bengals today, per Rapoport. Quote
COB Posted April 7 Report Posted April 7 I can’t find Matt Lee’s phone number, but these gutters aren’t going to clean themselves. 1 Quote
ArmyBengal Posted April 8 Report Posted April 8 Goodberry did a recent mock: 10. DE Bain 41. CB Ponds 72. TE Klare 113. DE Barham 189. WR Heidenreich 199. S Huskey 214. OG Morris 221. LB Rolder 226. DT Van Den Berg He made two trades down, but must admit to not liking that draft very much. Bain is fine. Ponds is like an inch taller than me. Both Cisse and Johnson were on the board. Klare? A TE in the 3rd? Two safeties in Ramsey and Wheatley were still on the board. Everything else is just a no until the late picks which are whatever. The WR out of Navy is interesting, but LB Jack Kelly was on the board and WR Jeff Caldwell too. Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 8 Author Report Posted April 8 Ponds will be good, even if he’s a hobbit. Tough call in pff’s latest: Bain or Styles at 10? https://www.pff.com/news/draft-2026-nfl-mock-draft-sonny-styles-slides-chiefs-trade-up-for-top-edge-rusher They go Bain. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted April 8 Report Posted April 8 I really like Bain and I really like Styles, so either one is a win for me in that scenario. There are other DE's and linebackers I like later as well. Quote

HoosierCat Posted April 8 Author Report Posted April 8 Why we are all probably just wasting our time. https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/bengals-roster-move-another-bad-093056023.html 2024 is already a disaster. After Mims it’s just trash: 1.18. OT Amarius Mims 2.49. DL Kris Jenkins 3.80 WR Jermaine Burton 3.97 DL McKinnley Jackson 4.115 TE Erick All 5.149 CB Josh Newton 6.194 TE Tanner McLachlan 6.214 DE Cedric Johnson 7.224 S Daijahn Anthony 7.237 C Matt Lee Quote
ArmyBengal Posted April 8 Report Posted April 8 Dude, that draft was straight up garbage. I guess there's still hope for Jenkins and Jackson, but Jackson probably still wants out. That and neither have been good enough to take the starting role over despite opportunity. I went back and looked. I gave that draft a "C" and commenting about how disappointing it was. Turns out, that "C" was being kind. I pretty much hated it then and still do. Still can't believe they didn't trade up into the top end of the 2nd round when looking at who was there. It's the epitome of sitting on your lazy ass hands and letting the draft come to you. There are times where you can see that being ok, but when your guy is there, GO FUCKING GET HIM. Nope, just not how the Bengals operate. No sense of urgency, followed by no sense of accountability. Duke should be fired for many things, but that draft alone would cost many their jobs. 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 8 Author Report Posted April 8 The weird thing is I can’t really tell you if the 24 draft was any good or not because most of these guys never got a chance. It’s like they deliberately drafted guys they hated so they didn’t have to play them. Quote

ArmyBengal Posted April 9 Report Posted April 9 Ok, we are two weeks out so lets see how the board shook out today... #10. Caleb Down, S, Ohio St.- Nothing needs to be said. A+ #41. D'Angelo Ponds, CB, Indiana- Terrell was there, but got hurt during his pro day. I want someone ready. #72. Jake Golday, LB, Cincinnati- I was hoping for a DE and didn't like the OT's. Golday is underrated. #110. Jager Burton, OC, Kentucky- We don't have any OC's and he's versatile and athletic. #189. Dontay Corleone, DT, Cincinnati- My boy Dontay fell in my lap and I couldn't say no. #199. Carver Willis, OT, Washington- The board was devoid of players I liked here so o-line is good. #221. Caden Curry, DE, Ohio St.- Didn't want to not add to the DE position group and he fell. #226. Jeff Caldwell, WR, Cincinnati- No way he goes in the 7th, but he was there so give me the value pick. Another time where 3 players from UC get nabbed, which the odds of that happening have to be lower than hitting the lottery. Since it won't happen, you could easily stick a high upside TE in at pick #189. I don't mind the outcome, but wasn't planning on having to take a Center until the Bengals got rid of everyone except Karras. That kind of forces the hand. Curry and Caldwell falling to the 7th round would make me happy when I don't usually give much thought to 7th rounders. Again, just having some fun and throwing something out there to see if things change as we get closer. Enjoy the day gents... Quote
COB Posted April 9 Report Posted April 9 These mock drafts that DON’T show us trading up to take Arvell Reese are a crime against humanity and if there were any justice in this world the authors of these drafts would find themselves on trial at the International Criminal Court in The Hague. And I would come out of retirement to personally prosecute each and every one of these mock drafts terrorists. (I’d also get Mike Brown indicted on something, I don’t know what exactly but I’d find something). Quote
ArmyBengal Posted April 9 Report Posted April 9 Hang on COB, I got you bro... I started by trading the #10 and #72 pick this year along with 2nd and 5th round picks in 2027. #3. Arvell Reese, LB, Ohio St.- Widely considered (By COB) to be the greatest football player ever. #41. AJ Haulcy, S, LSU- One of my personal favorites. #110. Chandler Rivers, CB, Duke- Competes and probably wins the nickel CB spot. #189. Dontay Corleone, DT, Cincinnati- Because duh #199. Trey Zuhn III, OC, Texas A&M- Athletic and versatile, best position is probably center. #221. John Michael Gyllenborg, TE, Wyoming- You know we are taking a TE and he's good value here. #226. Jeff Caldwell, WR, Cincinnati- I've said enough about him. Honestly not a bad take considering what had to be given. That draft got a grade of B+. 1 Quote
TJJackson Posted April 9 Report Posted April 9 I think the Corleone family is putting the squeeze on Army Take the pistol, leave the calzone Quote
ArmyBengal Posted April 9 Report Posted April 9 Yeah, love the name, but the kid can play and his stats hold up and exceed many of the guys ranked ahead of him. If he's there late, he's worth taking a shot on for sure. That being said, it wouldn't surprise me if he wasn't on their radar at all. Because it would be such a Bengals thing to do in ignoring a local prospect that wouldn't count against their 30 visit limits at a position of need. 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 10 Author Report Posted April 10 23 hours ago, TJJackson said: guys? I withdraw the plan to replace the Brown family with Joisey Yeah, I’m mostly goofing around, but here’s the thing: if the draft falls the way everyone seems to think it will, that Delane or McCoy are the best defensive option, you have to at least consider the other side of the ball. The case: first, if they take a corner, wave goodbye to at least one of Hill or Turner. Both are in contract years and taking a CB at 10 is a classic Bengals FO move. More money for Mike! If you want to give them the perfect excuse to do the thing we all hate, pick a CB. Second, it’s not as if the offense is an unassailable rock. The oline features a sophomore LG, and two old guys on one year deals at C and RG. Oh and the aging LT will be coming up soon. Finally there’s RB and WR. The former we can pass on unless it’s Love, and I’m taking him over either corner. WR isn’t something I’d really go for, but Yoshi’s spot could be upgraded and Tee always misses games, so there’s a case. Remember, they passed on Randy Moss because they thought they were set at WR, and that’s how we spent the 4 on Peter Warrick a couple drafts later. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted April 10 Report Posted April 10 I don’t disagree with those thoughts. It’s the draft, pretty much everything should be on the table for consideration. While I would prefer a defensive pick, I would understand an O-line pick pretty easily. The question I keep pondering is… What team is going to be aggressive, while we sit on our hands, and jump the Bengals for the defensive player the Bengals really covet? You can just see it coming… 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 10 Author Report Posted April 10 Just one game. All they had to do was pack it in a bit early last season and lose one more game. Then we’d be at 8 and right now and the difference between 8 and 10 is looking pretty wide. And no, you’re right, they aren’t going to do anything but sit there and “let the draft come to us.” Quote
TJJackson Posted April 10 Report Posted April 10 If a RB or WR is taken by us at 10, woe be unto all household appliances at Casa de la Jackson I dont want a CB but that would be sightly better OLT, DE, or LB please Id love a 3TDT but none seem worthy of pick 10 Im gonna blaspheme here: I love Burrow. a Lot. But he's injury prone. as such, I dont know if there is a qb worthy of pick 10, but if there is, I honestly would not mind a QB taken by us at 10. That said I'd prefer we use that as a lure to get someone to trade up for said qb, but lets be honest - our shit FO has no chance of doing such a good thing Quote
