HoosierCat Posted March 9 Author Report Posted March 9 TBF the lack of comp picks is also due to the team retaining talent. If they had let Chase or Higgins or Hendrickson go they would have picks but also less talent. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 12 Author Report Posted March 12 Brugler: Sources: DT Caleb Banks suffered a broken foot at the Combine that will sideline him until June. The injury happened the night before his on-field testing. He performed a partial workout not knowing the extent of the injury. The fracture of the fourth metatarsal was surgically repaired by Dr. Norman Waldrop on March 9. NFL teams have been informed. Quote
TJJackson Posted March 13 Report Posted March 13 3TDT or OLT I wont destroy household appliances if it is a CB or coverage LB Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 17 Author Report Posted March 17 Sam Farmer's first mock comes down where everyone else has been coming down, on Mansoor Delane. Reese, Bailey, Bain and Downs are all gone before 10. I've seen a couple post-FA draft's (PFF's latest, for example) that have either Downs or Bain surviving to 10, but the smart money appears to be going toward Delane. (Makai Lemon still available!) https://www.latimes.com/sports/story/2026-03-17/nfl-mock-draft-raiders-quarterback-first-round Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 17 Author Report Posted March 17 Mel's post-FA mock. Basically the same scenario as Farmer. Quote 10. Cincinnati Bengals Mansoor Delane, CB, LSU Even with Boye Mafe in the fold, the edge rush leaves a lot to be desired. But with Bain off the board, there isn't a pass rusher whose value fits here. The Bengals would have to reach for Missouri's Zion Young, Auburn's Keldric Faulk or Miami's Akheem Mesidor, and it's just too early for any of those guys. But Cincinnati was also one of four teams to give up more than 7 yards per opponent dropback in 2025, and it would love to have a true No. 1 corner. Delane can make plays on the ball (11 pass breakups, two interceptions last season) in either man or zone coverage. Quote

No issues with him or a trade down there would be really good as well. Same thing with Mel's. I would be really happy with a trade down and again, that's no knock on Delane because I really like him as well. This class just has a lot of CB depth and an extra early round pick would be glorious for this team. 1 Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 17 Report Posted March 17 So here's another trade down scenario since, well, I brought it up... In the above scenario, the Carolina Panthers offered the #19, #51 and #83 for the 10th overall. I accepted the trade down as it presents a small win in trade value and I can target other players later. The draft then fell: 1. Akheem Mesidor, DE, Miami - Bain's running mate at the U. 2a. Chris Johnson, CB, San Diego State - He's one of the CB's I like a little later. 2b. A.J. Haulcy, S, LSU - I really like Haulcy and if the Bengals don't get Downs, Haulcy is next. 3a. Caleb Tiernan, OT, Northwestern - I've mentioned him before and love the mad versatility on the line. 3b. Jake Golday, LB, Cincinnati - Adding another young LB, which isn't ideal, but I love his game. 4. Zachariah Branch, WR, Georgia - I gave up next year's 6th to move up 8 spots and went and got my guy. 6a. Dontay Corleone, DT, Cincinnati - He's small, but super aggressive in his pass rush. Fun to watch play. 6b. Cole Payton, QB, North Dakota St. - Love his running ability and super accuracy. 7a. John Michael-Gyllenborg, TE, Wyoming - He's a late round TE that I would LOVE to see the Bengals nab. 7b. Logan Taylor, OG, Boston College - Big, athletic late round guard. That'll do. So in this scenario, you basically trade Delane for (DE Mesidor, S Haulcy and LB Golday). Yeah, I make that trade all day, every day no matter how much I like Delane. I actually love that draft. 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 19 Author Report Posted March 19 Me at PFF today: 1. Delane. It was either him or Carnell Tate. All the defenders we crave were gone. 2. DE Zion Young. It was either him or Christen Miller. I went with edge here. 3. LB Anthony Hill Jr., Texas. He was about 14 picks down from the top of the list when the selection came up. Best DL was Domonique Orange, and I think we already have him, just his name is McKinnley Jackson. LB Kyle Louis was a few spots above him but he's the type of player I would never trust the Bengals to use correctly. Max Klare was there if you want a TE. Top player was WR Bryce Lance. Best available oline was a center who blew out his ACL last fall. Hill Jr. finally won out due to the force of th orgasm Zierlein had over him: Quote Three-down linebacker with the playing demeanor and production of a future Pro Bowler. He posted 31.5 TFLs, 17 sacks and eight forced fumbles in his three seasons at Texas, making an impact in every phase. He’s instinctive, athletic and under control, transitioning seamlessly from read to react to finish. He plays with downhill thump to thwart interior blocks and the speed to pursue runners from sideline to sideline. Hill has plus cover talent in man or zone, proven credentials as a blitzer or edge rusher, and finishes plays as a strong, reliable tackler. Consistency and field command make him one of the safer linebackers in the class. His size, speed and versatility allow him to profile as an instant-impact rookie at Mike or Will ‘backer. 1 Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 20 Report Posted March 20 Again, I would have zero issue with Delane. Love the kids play style for sure. I would hope they would do their homework on Young and his DUI in determining the issue. Hill was originally getting looks in the upper end of round two. The 3rd is a steal. I occasionally like to mess around on the mock draft sites and just take the top rated player. The only time I don't is if I've already taken the position, then I go down the board to the next. Here's how mine this morning worked out: 1. Sonny Styles, LB, Ohio State 2. Kayden McDonald, DT, Ohio State 3. Keionte Scott, CB, Miami 4. Zachariah Branch, WR, Georgia 6a. Keagan Trost, OT, Missouri 6b. Cole Payton, QB, North Dakota State 7a. Dan Villari, TE, Syracuse 7b. Jalon Catalon, S, Missouri Many names on that one that I really REALLY like, some (like Trost and Villari) that I wasn't really aware of, but Trost is really interesting in the later rounds. Payton is fun because he's a running QB as well and would offset Burrow's style should something happen again. I still think that contrast between Burrow's style and any running QB would change things up quite a bit if needed. Anyway, just another useless mock that killed time for me. 1 Quote
COB Posted March 21 Report Posted March 21 I won’t be overjoyed if it ends up being Delane. Nothing against the player, but no one can cover forever and that’s what he’ll have to do if we don’t get a pass rush going. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 23 Author Report Posted March 23 They way things are shaping up, I think that "trade down" might be an actual option for once. Usually the sticking point is that there isn't anyone attractive enough to generate an offer, but it appears we could have a scenario where the top WR (Tate), the top TE (Sadiq) and at least one of the top 3 OTs (Mauigoa, Fano and now Freeling) are all there at 10. Phone should be ringing when they're on the clock... 1 Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 23 Report Posted March 23 If the phone is ringing they should be willing to not only pick up, but to make a move. Not too often I can recall not wanting to take a top 10 talent, but the more I look at the players (even the popular ones) the more I think a trade down to get additional picks would be very smart. There are still many players I would love to see there at #10, but agree with Hoosier in that it should be a very real thought at this point. 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 23 Author Report Posted March 23 Morrison does a Bengals-only seven-rounder. Oh look it's Delane (and Hill Jr.) again. https://www.si.com/nfl/bengals/onsi/news/cincinnati-bengals-7-round-mock-draft-lands-major-defensive-haul-01kmdk5v280t Meanwhile just for kicks PFF gave me garbage choices so I decided to do a no-rookie-starts mock. 1. Mauigoa. Will replace Risner in 2027. 2. Ty Simpson. Will replace Burrow in 2027. 3. Max Klare. Will replace Gesicki in 2027. 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 23 Author Report Posted March 23 Pete Prisco, being the wily dog he is, changes it up and goes with...McCoy at 10, Delane to Miami at 11. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/priscos-2026-nfl-mock-draft-1-0/ (For those who want some hopium, I just did a run-through at PFN where both Styles and Downs were there at 10. I picked Styles, then got Kayden McDonald in the second and R. Mason Thomas in the third...) Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 24 Report Posted March 24 As much as I love Downs, I would be equally happy with AJ Haulcy in the 2nd round. If Styles is there, take him. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 24 Report Posted March 24 Regarding Delane, he did run his 40 in 4.38 seconds at LSU’s pro day today. Nice… 1 Quote
COB Posted March 24 Report Posted March 24 11 hours ago, HoosierCat said: Phone should be ringing when they're on the clock... Who’s phone? I’m being glib, but potential trade partners have in the past stated no one even knows who to call within the organization. No one knows who has the authority to implement a trade. I still want to trade up to get Arvell Reese, trading down puts us even further away from, you guessed it, Arvell Reese. Quote

Nice… Mater of fact, Delane in the first and Haulcy in the 2nd, both from LSU would make me smile. That secondary was really stout with the both of them last year. God knows there are worse things in the world than adding two All-Americans to a weak secondary at positions of need. 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 24 Author Report Posted March 24 Two-round mock from Field Yates. He comes up with the same combo as Morrison: Delane in the first, Hill Jr. in the second. Quote

ArmyBengal Posted March 25 Report Posted March 25 His nickname with the team is "The Godfather" so that's appropriate. While he's not an instant starter and on the smaller side, I watched a lot of UC's games and he's noticeable. He's a Cincinnati kid and it's a good story. I'm rooting for him. Here's a short highlight reel without all the stupid ass music playing in the background. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUxcE3Cc7YU 1 Quote
COB Posted March 25 Report Posted March 25 Arvell Reese looked great at his pro day today. Bengals should trade up to get him, but they won’t even consider it. Hopefully he’ll go to an NFC team. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 26 Author Report Posted March 26 I would love Reese but you’d need to trade up to 2. So that is like 10, 41 and next year’s first. Quote
