Week 16: Browns @ Bengals

Zac can’t get guys ready to play in the preseason.  So they have to play themselves into being a football team.  Takes 4 or 5 games usually.  Stone’s just not used to it because he’s new here.  He’ll play better next year.  Like about the 6th game instead of the 13th game.

Bengals have dropped to 15 in the draft after the early games. Should come back up a bit depending on late results.

however with a win today the worst the Bengals can do is 10 losses. Teams in slots 1-9 already have 11+. So best they can possibly do now is 10.

Ok.  I had to look hard, but I found it.....the silver lining of this win that I see as a loss (draft order)

There were 5 sacks today.  4 went to new guys - Ossai with 1, McKInley with 1, and Jenkins with T W O

Murphy had a qb hit

So did Cedric Johnson

now, I know Cleveland is a 3-12 team, but their OL has been very good for several years

also

I liked that MOO MAA has 4 tackles.  I know he's only getting in because Wilson is out, but thats pretty good rookie UDFA production

so I have a faint bit of hope for the defense for next year

I'll take whatever hope for the future I can :-)

now dont get me wrong.  I will want a DL taken high in 2025.....but maybe we can just draft 1 instead of 2 now.  Maybe.

The part I havent figured out is Burton.  Did he get on the field at all?  He was active but had no stats

CBS is showing Miami vs sf in central ohio.  Presumably because we need a Miami loss here in the last 3 weeks for us to have a chance.  Of course SF’s  Rudy is all heart, he really wants to win.  What a little competitor!  They’re losing 19-10 in the 4th.

Miami wins. No help for the playoffs today.

SF was down 5, had the ball, trying to drive for the go ahead score with 2 minutes left.  Rudy threw a completely stupid pick and Miami then scored a few plays later to salt it away.

Pretty brutal. IND and MIA have absolutely awful teams left on the schedule.
