ArmyBengal Posted May 22 Author Report Posted May 22 Any money saved from contracts being reworked has got to be earmarked for Trey as opposed to any new FA signing I would guess. Quote

HoosierCat Posted May 27 Report Posted May 27 Volson details out. It looks like they only saved about $500k against the cap. https://overthecap.com/player/cordell-volson/10181 Quote Cordell Volson signed a 4 year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals on June 14, 2022 worth $4,316,880 with $656,880 guaranteed via signing bonus. In 2025 Volson renegotiated his rookie contract by removing the PPE that he earned and replacing it with a new $2.6 million contract that had $500,000 guaranteed and the chance to earn more via incentives. The new contract represented a pay cut of $1.056 million. Quote
AMPHAR Posted Friday at 03:32 PM Report Posted Friday at 03:32 PM Karras Extended which might be their most important FA at the moment. Hopefully a defender or two step up to warrant worry about extending come March. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted Friday at 04:03 PM Author Report Posted Friday at 04:03 PM I like that Karras will be back for another year. If they don't think Matt Lee is the future they are going to need to address Center sooner rather than later. Quote
HoosierCat Posted Friday at 04:21 PM Report Posted Friday at 04:21 PM I will wait to see the details but so far it sounds like they just added another year for $5 million to his contract. That would cost them nothing right now and keep their options open for 2026. Nothing wrong with that. Quote

Your comment made me curious, so I went to take a look. Below are the UFA's for next year. DE Trey Hendrickson DE Joesph Ossai SAF Geno Stone TE Noah Fant LG Cordell Volson RG Lucas Patrick CB Marco Wilson CB Cam Britt-Taylor TE Tanner Hudson DE Cam Sample SAF Tycen Anderson This is exactly what I was talking about when they were trying to decide whether to pay Tee or not. Outside of Hendrickson, who will be 32 next year, no one is looking at top of the market deals. CBT, with an above average 2025, could cash in. Maybe. The reality is that the rest of those guys combined won't cost what Hendrickson will for 2026. I'm really glad they brought Tee back and looking at this only confirms that feeling for me. We actually discussed that in detail at the time. "Who else do they need to spend money on?". I fully expect another draft heavy on the lines and the safety spot depending on FA next year. 2 Quote
HoosierCat Posted Friday at 06:03 PM Report Posted Friday at 06:03 PM So long Tanner McLachlan, we hardly knew ye… Quote
Stripes Posted Friday at 09:49 PM Report Posted Friday at 09:49 PM Glad to get more Ted. He’s just the kinda dude you like to root for. I also get a little annoyed by some of the broader fanbase obsession with Matt Lee when he has never actually done a single thing. Quote
Stripes Posted Friday at 09:52 PM Report Posted Friday at 09:52 PM Also, Ted’s “right up yours, Tennessee, fuck you” tirade is one of my favorite Bengals moments of all time. 1 Quote
COB Posted Saturday at 12:24 AM Report Posted Saturday at 12:24 AM Watching that Karas clip in Tennesee, you really get a look at the intensity of an nfl player, the way they have to be. And even though he’s just walking off the field, Karas just exudes physicality and violence. You can see that there is a ton of quick twitch muscle underneath all that. Quote
COB Posted Saturday at 12:32 AM Report Posted Saturday at 12:32 AM Watching this YouTube game. First series, dimwitted Travis Kelce can’t run his route correctly and totaled Xavier Worthy’s shoulder. So their best receiver is out. But Travis will be able to get open if the Chiefs can scheme it up and get a defensive nose tackle in coverage. Quote
COB Posted Saturday at 12:38 AM Report Posted Saturday at 12:38 AM Worthy was on the sideline grimacing in pain and I think I saw Kelce tell him to shake it off. Zing! Your waitress is made of veal. Quote
HoosierCat Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago For anyone wondering, Risner contract details: Quote The Bengals signed Dalton Risner to an undisclosed deal last month but the details have risen to the forefront. Over The Cap reports Risner signed a one-year, $1.337 million contract with the Bengals. The deal includes a $167,500 signing bonus. Leaves the team with $12.75 million in cap space for 2025. Quote

When considering the players they have coming up for free agency next year, they could actually get more than a handful extended now if they decide to keep them with that cap space. 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago I expect it depends on how much they end up needing to cover injuries. But yeah if they get to December and still have double-digits left they could knock out a deal or two. Quote
Stripes Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago Sure, why not. Roster spot possibly opening with Patrick injured at least. Quote
HoosierCat Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago Worth a shot. He busted hard in NO but his last year at ND crossed with Golden’s first, so maybe he can get something out of him. Quote
COB Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago I wonder what’s up with this kid. He had two double digit sack years at ND. Then he plays one season for the Saints and gets cut. Would be amazing if we could get something out of him. If he walks in here off waivers and outplays Myles Murphy I’ll laugh, but it won’t be a surprised laugh. Quote
AMPHAR Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago I'd mark this down in the same category as the Jags OL they got. Both from a draft prospect standpoint look like good additions. Just got to wonder why they moved on from them so fast. 1 Quote
ArmyBengal Posted 3 hours ago Author Report Posted 3 hours ago I like Foskey coming out of ND. Anything more than what Murphy gives us is a win. If not, it's whatever... Quote
