D Jizzy Watson, the gift that keep on giving...laffs to the rest of the AFCN.

The Cleveland Browns have restructured quarterback Deshaun Watson's contract, a league source told ESPN's Field Yates, in a move that creates $35.832 million in salary cap space.

Cleveland converted $44.79 million of Watson's $46 million 2024 base salary into a signing bonus, the source told Yates. The move gives the Browns more than $62 million in cap space, the most in the NFL.

The Clowns are already $44 million over next season's estimated cap, so most of that will be rolled over and soaked up without any other benefit to the team.

The restructure also didn't add any additional years to Watson's contract (tho they did add a void year in last year's restructure), so yeah:

Watson will have cap hits of $72.9 million each in the 2025 and 2026 seasons, with $172 million and $99 million dead cap hits, respectively.

Insane. Dumbest contract ever remains the dumbest contact ever.

The Browns had a good roster,  still do.  They gambled at the QB spot as the final piece.   So far they lost.   I believe a lot of their defenders are on back loaded deals.  The franchise guys will stay, but Cleveland after this season will have to revert to relying more and more on draft picks and cheaper players.

But but collusion...
All players should have fully guaranteed contracts right?

Stupid Browns.

The league owners just voted to allow private equity firms to buy into teams, up to 10% stake with no influence on decisions.  The vote was nearly unanimous.  The lone no vote?  Our iconoclastic owner.  Mike truly is one of a kind.

NFL has been great at sucking money out of average Joe NFL fan.   I'd imagine PE investment they'll get even better at it.

Oh, they’re already working it. Apparently they want a kickback. They’re asking that a % of profits Wall St. makes be returned to the league. We’ll see how that goes.

I agree and have said so before COB. Knowing Perrine is one of the better blocking backs, how do you not try to bring him back? To make matters worse, he goes to KC.

I look at him the same way I look at Terrace Marshall. They couldn’t get rid of 1-2 scrubs to get those two in here?

Maybe they tried, maybe those guys will suck. I’m just not thinking that’s the case case with Perrine and Marshall would have had great familiarity here.

Yeah, irritates me.

Oh look more ugly sexual assault shit about Watson. Browns might be able to weasel out of that hell contract after all.

Maybe the Browns hired someone to make another complaint against him because there's a loophole in his contract to avoid paying him all that coin they owe him?  Probably not, but that thought jumped in my head. Pay some crack head whore $1 million to spin the story and they save almost $100 million (or some ungodly amount) by getting out of the contract.

That crack head whore would have a statue built in her honor in the city of Cleveland.

The NFL world is about to get a taste of more MMA this winter as Pittsburgh Steelers legend James Harrison announced that he and former Cincinnati Bengals great Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson would take the ring in New Orleans before the Super Bowl.

Today in news I post that will annoy Army.
