Zampese says all incumbent receivers will play "all the spots". What do you all think?  It's a different world than when Chad Johnson was here.  And of all the possible rookies being touted, who is the most versatile WR coming out?

More OTAs today. Only bit of news so far is that Vontaze is out and practicing.

Thompson & Wright both still rehabbing. No surprise there. Hewitt, FNR and Ogbuehi also out, no reason given so far.

I think they have put themselves in a nice situation regarding the CB position and still have Shaw from last years draft.
Don't get me wrong, I want to see Dennard out there, but it's early in the offseason at this point.

Eifert apparently not working today either. Hangnail maybe?

Eifert was hurt in the pro bowl and is recovering from that foot or ankle problem,  probably taking it slow.  Can't remember if it required surgery but he was in a boot afterward.

Yeah, thought the same thing. It's just stupid.

Fisher, Maualuga, Eifert all no-shows to start week 2 of OTAs. FNR a no-show last week too. I wonder what's up there?

Ogbuehi, Wright, Hewitt, Thompson present but not practicing.

Some notes from Dehner:

Shaw was the slot corner in drills today, looked good.

Alford had a bad day with three drops including a perfect deep pass.

Kumerow had a good day, caught a TD.

UDFA Erickson made some noise.

Burfict was back, stripped Kroft in the end zone (Kroft recovered).

Just to follow up, after practice Maualuga was spotted in the locker room so, as the DDN guy helpfully put it, "he's around."

To me the fact that he's present but not even going out of the sideline strongly suggests there's either an illness or injury issue. And the team's silence has me leaning toward the latter.

The only other thing I can think of is that he's deep, deep, deep in the doghouse for some reason.

I guess we'll see.

I think Rey and Burfict were over the team's weight requirements when OTAs kicked off.   Both were not active on the field.   Clearly Burfict has gotten on the field, so maybe Rey has some more pounds to drop?  Could be an injury too.

Yeah, I could see a weight issue too. If that's the case I hope it isn't booze-related. Rey's had some struggles with alcohol in the past and I'd hate to see that crop up again.

Well, seeing as how they view Shawn Williams as a Chris Crocker clone and he's been handed the starters spot, it can't hurt.
Hoping to see big things from Williams this year regardless how I felt about the pick when it was made.

Like the new look for Burfict.

In regards to Crocker, this piece of the article intrigued me in regards to what he may be able to share with our guys.

"I started refereeing before I even retired, so I sort of learned the knacks of it and what they were looking for and who was looking at me and how I could cheat a little bit more. I think it helped extend my career, because I knew what I could get away with."

Crocker probably would be a good coach.    He was Just a guy in the NFL but no one can argue the improved play whenever Zimmer brought him back to lead the secondary.

I'm kinda surprised he isn't up doing his internship with Zimmer.
