Agreed. Huber has improved markedly since his first couple years. Back then he struggled with consistency; he would boom most kicks but you could pretty much count on one shank a game. But he's worked it out and all the low level grumbling about drafting a better punter has died out.

Per Reedy, the rumor mill says the Bengals are signing P Shawn Powell, who was cut by the Bills earlier this year for sucking.

Finally, an FSU connection here for me. Powell didn't look good against Cleveland earlier this yr, but he had an All-America college career

Big thanks to the Bengals for the opportunity though.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes and support, but sadly, did not get the Bengals job. Punted well, but apparently not well enough.

interesting. Kluwe could have intelligence on the Vikes...wonder why they didnt roll with him?

Apparently we had to go with the crappiest guy available. On the plus side I hear Mike thinks he'd make a slam-bang tight end...

NFL confirms hit was illegal, should have been flagged, no TD.

My son watches the NFL channel a lot this time of year, and I was in the kitchen and happen to hear discussion about the Huber hit, so I went into the family room to 'tune in', so to speak.

I have no clue who the people are who were doing the discussing, but one of the yahoos was talking about how he watched the tape and does not see how they can call Huber defenseless, (even though that is the rule the NFL put in place for the punters/place kickers) and how he thought the hit was unintentional. That the Steeler saw a white jersey and did his job blocking!

Obviously, because I'm a Bengals fan, I've never liked the Steelers or the Ravens, but after this incident the Steelers just moved to the #1 spot on my list of teams most despised!! Nothing but a bunch of thugs on defense!

Dallas used to own the number 1 spot ever since Jerry Jones took over ownership. I used to like the Cowboys back when Landry was the coach with Roger Staubach and crew. Before the Bengals came to town and I was a Browns fan, I would never root against the Browns if they played the Cowboys, but always pulled for them otherwise.

What EVERYONE is getting wrong is that while Huber is considered "defenseless" as a punter, it doesn't mean he can't be blocked.

It means he can't be hit in the head and/or neck area and can't be struck using the helmet (like everyone else).

It doesn't mean he can't be blocked.

Garvin or whatever that asswipe's name is, could have laid an absolutely brutal block on Huber had he simply hit him in the chest or shoulder.

It would still have been brutal, but absolutely legal by definition.

What he did was line him up and drill him in the chin with the top of his helmet.

He could have knocked Huber over with a simple stiff arm and gotten the same result.

He deserves a suspension for that low-class sh*t.

I just wish everyone would shut the f*ck up about how punters and kickers should be able to be blocked.

They can, read the freakin' rules. And they call themselves analysts and reporters.

Clowns.

What's a joke is ANY of the analysts who have never played NFL football!

All of this foolishness just brings to mind just how much more I want them to win out and win a playoff game or 2!

I don't even watch the pregame shows anymore, because I can't stomach what I hear!

If Lap and Hoard weren't delayed, I'd turn off the volume and listen to them!

I hope this kid Powell comes in and kicks the snot out of the ball BTW!

I'm not sure how many of the IR lists from the other teams include key players, but I know we've got a few them out!!
