Would you want Michael VIck next year?

I'm not anti Dalton at all - I welcome competition for places and depth of roster in every position.

Depending on what Vick would demand I suppose it would be either/or rather than both Dalton and Vick on the roster.

I can't see both being an option - if Vick became the sarter would Dalton be happy with a back-up role? Would Vick be happy with a back up role. Would the front office be happy paying big coin to a back-up (either Dalton or Vick)?

I can't see a change in starter happening (unless the injury curse hits yet again) so I guess consistency is the way I'd lean - rather improve the O-line through FA/draft rather than stick a different QB behind the same O-line that has proved ineffective in a few games this year.

Just checked on NFL.com and Vick will be 34 starting next season .... not much longevity compared to Dalton so I stand by keeping Dalton and improving the O-line.

Check again in a few years, kaz, he still might turn out better. I just find it funny that last year, Colin was the guy the Bengals should have taken, this year he's poo-poo (so far). Go look at Luck's numbers, too. For a guy who was all but inducted into the Hall of Fame on draft day, they look positively...Daltonian. Yet I'm not seeing a raft of articles asking if Luck is a real NFL OB.

Ummm no.

Vick will never play another full season at QB in the NFL, let alone 4 or 5 straight games.

As a starter,

Vick is toast. Maybe as a back up. He's certainly better than Josh Johnson, Skelton, JT o suckigan, gradkowski, etc.

by the way Vinnie Rey is the only Bengal defender in Bengals history to have recorded 3 Qb sacks and an interception in a game. Pretty amazing that it had never been done before.

Makes you wonder what Maualuga could do in the system if he were any better than average on a good day...

Josh Johnson seems to be a Gruden pet project, so if they turn anywhere I would expect him to have the inside track initially.

Just a reminder I am a Dalton fan and think he is the QB for this team in the present and future. BUT

I was hoping that they would put Johnson in the game last week before the big comeback and I still think letting him try his hand might have changed the game. Balti was killing our O-line and Dalton never seems to feel any pressure until it is to late to move, Johnson might have been able to slow down the rush with his feet. He couldnt have been much more inaccurate last week than Dalton was. Instead our OC kept throwing the football and turned it back over to Balti repeatedly before finally getting something going at the very last oppotunity.

Just re-read this. Seeing two UDFA handle the business at LB, three if you count James Harrison, is a testament to Zimmer. That Rey M is nothing more than a middle of the road LB is kind of a bummer.

With Porter, Joiner and Lamur on IR, there is some depth here going forward. for me its hard to imagine sitting Vinny Rey down so Rey M can get on the field.

Porter was the LB I was really hoping to see what he could do.

LB might not be the big glaring need it was thought to be heading into the season.

I still think they take one in the first few rounds though.

Mike Vick ?? Still a no.

Dalton moving forward ?? I'm still thinking yes.

Not 100% sold, but the other options would have to be substantial to throw him to the side at this point.

No Vick, but if Dalton doesn't get better the rest of the season, anyone but him. The defenses in this division are pretty brutal still, with Cleveland now being a top 3, a big QB who can deliver under pressure would be ideal.

Vick has shown that he gets injured when under pressure. I'm all for bringing in some real competition for AD

Harvey thinks the two Reys will split time.
