Bengals @ Dolphins Pregame

Chatter out of Miami:

Players are growing discontented with OC Mike Sherman's playcalling. Specifically they think he goes away from the run too quickly (sound familiar?).

However, that's not what is bugging former Steeler Mike Wallace. Displaying his famous team-first attitude, Wallace is kvetching that the Dolphins don't throw deep to him enough and that he's been relegated to possession receiver status. Boo frickin' hoo, huh?

In addition to those distractions, Miami may have to shuffle their o-line tomorrow night. RT Jonathan Martin (who moved from LT after McKinnie arrived) has missed all week with an undisclosed illness and may be replaced by the man he pushed to the bench, former starting RT Tyson Clabo.

And oh yeah, the Dolphins' cheerleaders' site got hacked by a porn operation.

Nice work again Emory. Just a note though: Boley may not play. He has been nursing a hammy and hasn't practiced. It looks like Vinny Rey and J.K. Schaffer (just brought up from the taxi squad) will both play, but the wild card is one of this year's Hard Knocks stars, Jayson DiManche.

The Bengals went all out to sign him as a UDFA, so we'll see if that pays off now.

I'm hoping the bengals run the ball more tomorrow. I would like to see them be able to run the ball when they want to. That's my main concern going forward, there are games where he needs it.

Just saw where Dalton was ranked middle of the pack as a QB this year. They said he had great games before, but always falls, so I'm hoping he can prove them wrong. Better yet who cares about them, I just hope he keeps playing how he is!

Last I saw, Dalton was top 10 in nearly every meaningful stat so far this year.

Yes, and in my rankings, Gregg Rosenthal is an elite moron this year

On the other hand, there's this: http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/97291/dan-grazianos-mvp-watch-9

Yea thanks Hoosier that's what I saw, I'm at work so didn't have time to post it. On NFL.com he had his mid season QB rankings and had Dalton as a middle of the pack QB.

Injury report from Reedy:

Linebacker Rey Maualuga has been officially ruled out of Thursday’s game due to a concussion/knee injury. The fact that Maualuga was on crutches yesterday and said he’s seen better days along with indications that he is out the next 3-4 weeks should have been enough, but hey it’s official now. Defensive tackle Devon Still will also miss his second-straight game due to a elbow injury.

DE Wallace Gilberry (groin), OT Andrew Whitworth (knee), WR Mohamed Sanu (shoulder), RB Rex Burkhead (calf) and LB Michael Boley (hamstring) are all questionable.

I'm going to bet that's pretty much the inactive list.

Oddly, new guy Boley could be the biggest loss...although Gilberry certainly would hurt. LB is looking pretty thin all the sudden, especially since Mays was playing nickle LB and now he's gone for the season.

In looking things over quickly, you find a Dolphins team that:

Is on a 4 game losing streak to Saints, Ravens, Bills, Patriots.

This after starting out 3-0 with wins against the Browns, Colts and Falcons.

Everything about this game screams win and in any other season I would simply pencil in a loss for the Bengals coming off a big win.

That, the injuries, and a short time between games makes things appear tough.

That being said, I think the Bengals go into this game knowing they are beat up, but wanting to prove they are tough in the given situation.

They also know they won't play another game until the 10th of November.

I just think this is a different Bengals team that will head into this game fired up.

The Dolphins are a bottom end defense against some poor teams and a middle of the road offense.

This is not the Bengals of old.

Bengals- 27

Dolphins- 17

So I finally tossed $10 at the NFL today for their audio pass so I can at least listen live. They also have old games archived so tonight I cued up the Jets game. A few observations:

I forgot how much I enjoy listening to sports on the radio.

Sounds like AJ is still having some issues with drops.

Sounds like Thompson had a good game.

Scoring TDs not FGs in red zone, how nice is that? I remember dreading the red zone for years. If they didn't score before they got to the 20 it was a field goal or turnover most of the time.

Pollack came in center over Robinson. He must be a mess.

Huber killing it all 50 yard punts.

I love our defensive line against their offensive line and Tannehill. I think the Bengals take this show on the road and wow people again. 24-13

Being the road team on Thursday night is often a terrible challenge, but the Bengals just won a game like this in Philly last year so I don't care.

Nice is it the bengals broadcast then? Lap and Hoard? I love listening to Lap, he tells it like it is. I watch the game and listen to them.

Lap is fun to listen to because he loves the Bengals and gets into the game.

Whenever there is a big play he goes crazy.

"GET IT, GET IT, YEAAAAAAAAH, GO GO GO, TOUCHDOWN, WHOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!"

Yep, still feeling like this is a game the Bengals win.

If they don't, it's not the end of the world, but I think they come home with the "W".

Yep Lap is my favorite to listen to, he just tells it like it is. I remember him busting in Chad all the time, to get his head in the game.

In week 2 he saying about AJ that his body language was horrible. That's why I listen to there broadcast rather then the stupid announcers on TV. I have Sirius so that's how I get to listen to it.

I always love how Lap is screaming PICK IT two seconds before anyone can even see the potential for a pick.

Yup. He's a total homer but his enthusiasm masks a lot of football smarts. I love how he points out little details like big blocks by the o-line (Boling had one or two he raved about), the fact that Harrison's sack came when he was playing at end and praising Hunt for being one of two or three guys who recognized and blew up a screen play. Those are the kind of details you rarely get from the national guys, especially late in a blowout like this when they are bored and talking about other teams or division standings or their dogs or whatever.

My favorite Lap moment so far is his reaction to the fumble recovery and TD at the end of the GB game. "BALLS OUT! BALLS OUT! BALLS OUT! BALLS OUT!"
