Steelers @ Bengals Pregame Chatter

As far as the game goes, to me they have to win this game. Dalton needs to have another great game, this time against steelers who he usually sucks against. If they can't win this game as much as I don't want to admit it, they maybe in trouble.

Time for Bernard to start, and Law Firm to spell him. After last week it shows Bernard needs more touches. I just worry the coaches won't give him that chance till later, or till it's too late.

O-line keep pass protecting like last week, Andy looked comfortable, and at his best. Dalton could have completed 34 passes last week if it wasn't for drops/ints that were not his fault. Run blocking needs to be better!

Defense time to earn your money, and I really do think they need to dictate this game. I want to see big sacks, and how about some turnovers. Better coverage from the secondary, and quite leaving guys wide open.

I totally agree with you; Bernard needs more touches. Last season, I thought we made a mistake with the Law Firm because he wasn't getting any yards until the end of the season. It was funny that he never fumbled until he came to us too! If it weren't for penalties last week, Bernard would have had some good yards!!

They'll figure it out. Gio's just a rookie. They're not going to give him a prominent role in game 1. Just be glad that he looked good

History suggests the Steelers will upset the Bengals in Cincinnati. History suggests the Steelers will bounce back in a big way from one of their worst season-opening losses of recent vintage.

History suggests the Steelers aren't in big trouble despite losing six of their past eight games dating to last season and having no discernible running game.

It's funny, but I was thinking last night that I hadn't read any stories like this from the Bengals' side. I've seen several variants from the Pitt viewpoint. Maybe that's because the Bengals looked pretty good even though they lost, while the Steelers didn't just lose, they looked terrible in the process. But even so it seems like Cincy has been unusually quiet. And I kind of like that.

I've said it before, but I don't mind being a broken record.

It's all about his pass protection abilities. Once he gets that under control, he'll get the bulk of the carries. Until then, you simply can't have him out there all the time.

Only those that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Am I the only one glad we didn't take David DeCastro took pouncey out with friendly fire ;)/>/>/> which beats taking out one of our guys.

Whit and Ghee practicing today. Burfict out but on the sidelines.

Hopefully it's just to rest him can't lose Burfict! >.<

PS,For the talk about Whitworth vs AC maybe get as many of best players on field possible move Whit back to LG and keep AC at LT?

I originally brought up Collins and Whitworth, but I don't want people to think I want to be rid of Whitworth.

My point to it was I wonder how much the organization might be wondering what they have in Collins who turns 28 and Whit turning 32 and hurt ??

Another great point was that if he continues to play well, he plays his way out, in knowing he's going to get paid.

The Bengals won't be able to do that kind of coin with Green, Dalton, and even Gresham coming up.

I see the draft to address Whit's future departure.

Sure they can afford it. Question is will they do it?

Other costly players will be on the chopping block by then. Maybe Peko, Geathers, and maybe MJ walks... money will be there....

Looks like you spoke too soon volcom...heres the IR from reedy:

Joe Reedy ‏@joereedy 2m

#bengals inj. report OUT: Ghee (concussion), Pollak (knee); DOUBT: Miles (hamstring); ?ABLE: Whitworth (knee); PROB: Burfict (thigh)

Given how well AC played I wonder if they will pull the trigger on Whit this week. I'd bet they activate him but may not rush to put him out there.

Pitt IR via PFT:

Steelers tight end Heath Miller (knee), cornerback Cortez Allen (ankle) and running back Le’Veon Bell (foot) are out for Monday’s game at Cincinnati, the club disclosed on its Twitter feed on Saturday.

Miller and Bell missed Week One with their injuries. Allen, the Steelers’ starting right cornerback, suffered an ankle injury in the season-opening loss to Tennessee.

Miller has long been the Steelers’ top tight end, while Bell, a rookie from Michigan State, is expected to be a key part of the running game once he returns to action.

In addition to not having Allen Monday night, the Steelers may be without reserve cornerback Curtis Brown (illness), whom the team lists as doubtful. The club currently has just three healthy cornerbacks: Ike Taylor, William Gay and Antwon Blake.

In better injury news for Pittsburgh, placekicker Shaun Suisham (left hamstring) and nose tackle Steve McLendon (hamstring) are probable.

Good news for Dalton!

Miles and Ghee (of course) are the only ones not practicing today.

Ghee.... pulling off the greatest feat possible. Getting paid substantially whle doing nothing. Wasnt there another recent bengal who played several years but never was activated because of injury?

Not-My-Weed Simpson was active for only 13 of his first 48 games, but not because of injury: he just didn't know which way to run on most of the plays

Bengals used to draft a lot of "developmental" players, only to see them ready to play only in their 4th or 5th year, which is when their rookie deals run out. It was a loser of a strategy. Bengals are now doing a much better job of getting rookies and 2nd year players on the field.

To be fair, Simpson never really had a role early on, though there's no shortage of stories about his struggles with the offense. The Bengals reached for him because Ocho had gone Bozo and was threatening to sit out the season if he wasn't traded. When he finally caved that left Rome in a weird place and then the Bengals continued to go in other directions, like signing TO, versus developing him. Then Green fell to them in the draft and that was that.

I think Gap is referring to Perry, another pick who couldn't stay off IR. if he was two-carry perry, I think Brandon is ten-tackle Ghee.

Kilmer pulled a similar thing, as did Pollack.

Perry at least had 05 where he was productive.
