Hard Knocks...again

If this was a fore gone conclusion, then they should have let Connor go sooner.

As I stated earlier, I just hope we aren't lamenting our ability to salt a game away in the fourth quarter because we can't make a third-and-one with our H-back/full back guy.

Well I felt like Orson last game finally did start to get the blocking down,I trust in Hue's judge of talent because Orsonwas the guy he wanted I just wish we would kept them both : /

I don't think you realize how much we moved away from using the FB even last year. Orson will be fine, and he allows us to show even more with the H-back versus the FB.

I'll be more than happy to be worrying for no reason !!! :sure:

Like I said, i'm hoping to see a very good year for Orson.

He was solid when getting his chances last year and I hope to see more of that.

I don't mind Orson.

Getting an up close look at Hue Jackson has changed my mind about him, though. I think he would be a disaster as a coordinator. The way he came in with an agenda regarding certain players just left me with a sick feeling. He just comes across to me as an actor, a person more interested in how he sounds and looks than in how he does his job.

The 2 things I think of when I think of Hue's accomplishments - Chad Johnson's career and the Carson Palmer trade (and not the good side of that trade, either). I'd like to see him elsewhere next year.

You can think what you want, but the bottom line is that players seem to love him. If they love their coach, they're going to play hard for him. He went to bat for Orson and you better believe that he's going to want to do right by Hue, as Marvin put it.

We know next to nothing about his knowledge of x's and o's and his ability to gameplan, but I think Marvin and Co. would be qualified to make that decision.

I do agree with you, though, that watching him on Hard Knocks didn't exactly make me fall in love with the guy as so many others seemed to do.

To put it diplomatically, Hue is a "strong personality." That's a big part of what cost him his job in Oakland. I doubt he is the only coach (here or anywhere else) who has an agenda regarding a particular player. But he got caught out doing it on HK and I agree it doesn't exactly make him look good. But I wouldn't disqualify him as a coordinator on that basis. Frankly, I have zero interest in seeing any coordinator changes in Cincy. I love having Zimmer here and while I have my doubts about Jay, the last thing I want to do is scramble the sideline when it looks like they have finally put all the pieces together on the field.

I don't want to see either of the coordinators go, but don't see them both sticking around either.

Then again, I could see where Zimmer would rub people the wrong way and Gruden not giving off the utmost of confidence to be a coach.

Gruden just doesn't strike me as a head coach at this point in time.

  • 2 weeks later...

This show went downhill fast...booooring.

If Hue Jackson spoke like that to me I'd smack him. Not impressed with that clown at all. The stupid duck walk was the icing on the cake, that he has Orson doing...and why you would keep Charles over Conner is also just stupid (and I could understand why Conner was upset about it). How many f'ing times is an "H-back" going to be needed to catch passes or even open up your offense some if you're never going to use him in that way? That whole scenario (beyond being just lame) was just senseless. I can see why Hue hasn't stuck anywhere, he's a freakin' clown. Charles should be a TE and he should be pissed that he's not being used as one here, he's a good athlete and could carve out a career as a #2 or #1 TE somewhere...instead he's doing a stupid duck-walk in Hue Jackson's office.

Not really stupid when Fullback is becoming less and less of a important position where some teams don't even have on on their roster,I Can understand why he won he was more versatile so they can keep same players on field but give different Looks....I thought it made less sense keeping Alex Smith Because Charles could have been 3rd TE/Hback and then Conner could been short yrd fullback.
