Hard Knocks...again

I've seen on other boards that they couldn't believe how quick and solid Gio looked.

I was left to wonder where those people have been ??

Gio has been exactly as advertised since day one and think he will make a big impact this year.

Take over the starters spot ?? No, I won't go there, but he will do more than Scott ever did.

Lance McAlister's first review

*Nobody does stuff like this better than HBO...just really good stuff...the images of city and PBS and the sounds are simply spectacular.

*Heartbreak moment: Tough to watch Larry Black dislocate his ankle and later break down when he realized the extent of the injury. I thought it was more emotional a moment than when Reggie Kelly was on the trainer's table. How do you not root for that guy in 2014?

*Loved Geno vs Gresh in Oklahoma Drill

*Love the back and forth of Mike Zimmer calling Hue Jackson out during practice as Jackson wondered to other side of ball...."are you lost?,....."quit talking to my guys".

*Hue will be a Hard Knocks star of this camp and will be a head coach again. Guys love him, respect him and play for him.

*Ton of camera time for Bernard...minivan...love notes to girl friend and all

*Jay Gruden's son had a laptop and discussed his fantasy football team with Andy Dalton

*Gruden chased Bernard on play and was worn out....Giovani put his hand on Gruden's back and said, "are you alright?" Gruden: "Shut up".

*How about Marvin's pool? Nice. He hosted staff party before first practice.

*Adam Jones ran out of gas and found someone passing by to get him to the stadium.

*Andy Dalton does Pilates with his wife. Maybe I'll start doing...never mind.

*I love Harrison's swagger. He's on record calling the whole Hard Knocks process: "a pain in the A double S." He flipped the cameras off, ran from them and shut doors on them.

*Wonder how many players/coaches are actually scared of Harrison?

*Harrison just seems like he wants to destroy things *Taylor Mays....superhero powers?

*Aaron Maybin? Forgot about him.

*Quotes of note:

*"What you guys are about to embark on is different than anything you've ever dealt with. You gotta bring your "A" game. These are a bunch of grown men who are going to fight to keep their jobs and your job is to take their jobs."---Jackson, talking to rookies he took to dinner.

*Gruden warned James Harrison to "lay off the merchandise"....ie....leave AJ Green alone. Harrison said : "I like touching the merchandise. I'm not going to kill him, but I'm not gonna let him get his job done." Gruden followed with: "Just relax."

"Good isn't good enough. This is about the pursuit of excellence." -Mike Zimmer "Don't get in a fight with Burfict. He will kick your &$@--Gruden to Bernard *"He's not tall, he walks like a duck, you wouldn't pick him out of a lineup to be an NFL DT, and yet we think he's the best one,"--Mike Brown on Geno Atkins *Love the camaraderie and apparent "chemistry" on this team.

*Anyone miss Chad mugging for the camera? Child, please.

Hearing about it is one thing. Seeing it was something else entirely, at least for me.

Great episode last night. It really showed a hard working, tight knit group.

My observations:

1) Gio Bernard's cutting ability is out of this world

2) Andy Dalton has grown into a competent leader and is good enough to lead this team deep into the playoffs

3) Tyler Eifert will be contending for OROY and has incredible physical skills

4) Dre Kirkpatrick not responding to Hue Jackson was priceless

5) Jayson DiManche struck a cord with me

6) James Harrison knows how to uphold an image

7) Taylor Mays may not be the brightest bulb

8) Geno will be a Bengal for a long time

9) Impressed by training staff

10)The respect A.J. Green gets from everyone is incredible and deserved. The reaction when he went down shows that his importance is not lost on one single person. Geno has the same respect. Great to see.

11) Larry Black. Heart wrenching. Get back soon big fella.

Funniest moments:

1) the rookie LBs talking about taking Harrison's jersey

2) the Bama-ND exchange between Andre Smith and Eifert

3) Gio asking a winded Gruden if he was alright. Gruden's response was classic..."I'm gonna call you when you get old. When you are 5'5", 310."

Gio was the RB I wanted the most in this draft and that was from the start.

Then again, I have seen him play while at UNC and have seen what he's capable of.

I can see where if you haven't seen it for yourself, you would be left with a smile on your face.

Good times !!!

Son of a motherless goat! I set this up to record last night and for some reason I set it up on the spanish HBO. It's on again today, so I'm recording it in English this time, but ugh...

LOL, I think it's on at 11pm each Wednesday. Hopefully the youtubers will put it out there tomorrow.
