combatbengal
Year in and year out, all that the media seems to be focused on is the NY Jets and how great they are, how horrible they are, how they pick up Tim Tebow, how they drop Tebow..... And no the Bengals aren't picking up Tebow. I like the guy, I think he's a great athlete, but I have no desire to see the Bengals try another project. I'd rather hear about the Bengals or other teams on the news... />http://cincinnati.com/blogs/daugherty/2013/04/30/the-morning-line-430-3/
Stripes
I certainly don't want the worst quarterback in the NFL on this roster.

ArmyBengal
I hate hearing it as well.I turn on NFL Live and it should be called NFL "NY" Live.Tebow ?? No I don't want him, but I sure did love watching him beat the Steelers in that playoff game !!!
TJJackson
I certainly don't want the worst quarterback in the NFL on this roster.wait....wait....he could room with the worst middle linebacker in the league or the worst kick returner in the league!oh, the possibilities! HoosierCat
Re the Jets, that's just the nature of the media. Disaster stories get ratings and page views, and the Jets are epic-level train wreck right now. Their (and arguably the league's) best corner is in Tampa; they may take a $12 million cap hit rather than keep alleged franchise QB Mark "butt fumble" Sanchez; their QB of the Future is all pouty because he dropped to the second round (poor baby!); and their head coach likes to suck toes.Yeah, that's gonna get covered... He's a puss an wrong. There is no need for Tebow. THey have a guy who can run at QB, and execute a read option. Josh Johnson. Plus, unlike Tebow, he has a serious arm.Doc is so overwrought and full of himself. He calls himself OG and then whines that some anonymous Tweeter dropped an F bomb.... joke. combatbengal
I think it was two years ago, all they talked about was how the Jets were the dream team and last year it was about how Tebow was traded to the Jets and this year it's about the same crap. GapControl
i have no idea why doc still has a job in cincinnati. if we had any real standards in this town, he would have been fired long ago. dave lapham chews him up and spits him out as far as pure reporting goes

COB
Doc paints himself into a corner. When the Bengals tanked after they went into Chad fueled decline after '05, Doc just took shot after shot at Mike Brown, the facilities, the scouting, the coaching, the organization as a whole. There is not reporting involved in just snidely mocking a struggling organization. It's the easiest thing in the world to do. Then, using all the same elements Doc so enthusiastically mocked, the Bengals have succeeded in the draft, on the field, etc. So what does he do now? What can he do now? Suggest they sign Tim Tebow? Just plain stupid and shows a serious lack of understanding of how this team was built and how it does business. The guy who sits on the sidelines and lobs grenades at everyone else who is trying to get something done? Not good for much else.

I think it ultimately shows just how little Doc knows about football, on the whole. I sure wish I could get paid solid wages for writing crap about things I know very little...Next Doc will explain how he's not a "Sports" writer but more of an "Ideas" writer... and, if we all have different ideas, hey, can't we all just get along? HoosierCat
Doc doesn't seem to get something that skyline pointed out in the depth thread: this team is actually full of talent. 15 or 20 years ago I would have been right there with him. In fact, I was, demanding that the Bengals sign every "name" FA because the team was so bad. Even other teams' busts and old washed up dudes looking for a last contract were worth it in hopes of finding some small measure of ability and/or leadership.Times have changed. Even other teams' busts and old washed up dudes looking for a last contract were worth it in hopes of finding some small measure of ability and/or leadership.Times have changed. This is EXACTLY where I am. We have also discussed it when talking about our future free agents and the team is going to have to make some hard decisions due to the fact they have drafted so well. They won't be able to afford all of that talent. For those that haven't been following along, there's simply no way they are going to be able to afford all of: Green, Dalton, Dunlap, Atkins, Gresham, and MJ (tagged) moving forward and that's just the top end guys. They aren't the only ones.Doc seems to be lost in things like that.
kingwilly
Interesting ESPN item today on Dalton. He's got to get himself, and offense, over the hump. Expectations are as high as ever./>http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/69696/bengals-draft-puts-more-pressure-on-dalton
ArmyBengal
I honestly don't worry about it. You could argue it's a good thing Dalton has the pressure on him or not. However, I wouldn't just pencil in that he's going to do better simply because of the addition of two rookies.Maybe Eifert and Bernard will be awesome, maybe they won't. It's not a guarantee or anything.Maybe it takes two seasons, maybe three. If Dalton doesn't improve this year it would be disappointing for sure though. HoosierCat
Weird. I think just the opposite of Hensley. If anything, the draft has taken the pressure off Dalton. Assuming that one, Eifert and Gio pan out and, two, Sanu and Jones continue to develop, Andy will now have four more actual weapons behind Green to utilize. He will no longer be forced to try and make chicken salad out of chicken sht like Gresham, Tate and Armon friggin' Binns. This is an issue that stretches back to Chad's implosion and TJ's exit, stage FU Bengals. First Carson and then Dalton were forced to work with over-hyped and often over-paid rejects, bums and chumps like Coles, TO, Benson, Simpson, Tate and Binns. Does anyone really believe that back in 2004-05, when the offense was really humming, having Chad and TJ in their prime, plus the troubled but talented Chris Henry, Rudi Johnson, Reggie Kelly and one of the best o-lines in football put pressure on Palmer? Or more likely made him feel like king of the world?I am sure Dalton is salivating over the upcoming season.
combatbengal
I sure hope so Hoosier! I'm tired of getting my hopes up to see us lose in the first round of the playoffs. I'm also tired of seeing us show up one week to play a great game and then the next week looking like a high school team can beat us. I'm also tired of the same excuses and answers to why we lost. Excuses like - We need to get better, or we need to work harder... No sht!! I think we have the tools to make something great happen this year but you know it's not just the players. The coaches have to coach and they have to be able to make adjustments. I don't want to be able to sit on my couch and tell my wife just about every play they're going to run this season. By the way, am I the only one who is having problems with this website? Pages not loading?
HoosierCat
No, we've had other complaints. If I'm not logged in, which I am not always on my work computer, it hangs up trying to load the ads. When I'm logged in I haven't had any problems though.
ArmyBengal
I've been having problems with the pages updating. For example, I read a thread and then when I come out of the thread, it shows like it hasn't been read. That crap is annoying. I keep thinking someone made a new post while I was in there only to find the page isn't updating. It's a minimal annoyance in the grand scheme.
