COB Posted December 25, 2012 Report Posted December 25, 2012 Wow, Patriots, Packers, Vikings and Colts at home. That is not an easy schedule. Quote
membengal Posted December 25, 2012 Report Posted December 25, 2012 Better than having that crew on the road, though. Quote
skyline Posted December 25, 2012 Report Posted December 25, 2012 Wow, Patriots, Packers, Vikings and Colts at home. That is not an easy schedule. The Vikings and Colts shouldn't scare us too badly. The other two are tough, but if we truly think the Bengals are ready to take that next step, then they shouldn't be afraid of anyone.Bring it! Quote
ArmyBengal Posted December 25, 2012 Report Posted December 25, 2012 Didn't this young team just turn a corner by beating the Steelers on the road in a "win or go home" situation ??Didn't this young team just make it back to back playoffs appearances for the first time in like 30 years ??No concerns, bring it !!!GRRRRR and SH*T !!! HoosierCat Posted December 26, 2012 Author Report Posted December 26, 2012 Here's the rest of the picture: we get the Colts and Chargers as our two "other" games.Pitt: same sked except they get Oakland and TennesseeCleveland: Jax and KCBaltimore: Houston and Denver Quote
ArmyBengal Posted December 26, 2012 Report Posted December 26, 2012 Houston and Denver for the Ravens ??Ouch... Quote

We also know it ain't worth it. I don't want another last place schedule ever again2) You can't project a year out who's going to be good. At this time last year we thought the NFC East was going to be murder's row. As it turned out all those teams were very beatable Quote
HoosierCat Posted December 26, 2012 Author Report Posted December 26, 2012 2) You can't project a year out who's going to be good.Yup. Just look at the Colts. I don't think anyone expected that. But FWIW my $0.02:Colts and Chargers: Colts will come back to Earth a bit but will still be a tough opponent. Chargers, who knows? New HC and GM in the offing, maybe a new QB, ask again in the spring.Oakland and Tennessee: Oakland is a train wreck. I don't see any quick improvement there. Tennessee, Locker looks awful, Munchack may be out, who knows?Jax and KC: I don't see how either team can not be better in 2013. They can't get much worse. With Charles I think KC can come back quickly if they find even an average (think Kitna-esque) QB. Jax ownership is apparently going to import Tebow against the wishes of the coaches so they could continue to suck.Houston and Denver: Hard to see either team taking a big tumble. Quote

The thing in the NFL is injuries. 53 man rosters are inadequate for a 16 game season and positions can get decimated. Will Peyton still be healthy a year from now? Quote
HoosierCat Posted December 26, 2012 Author Report Posted December 26, 2012 Yeah, I would love to see expanded rosters. Owners don't want to spend the coin, tho, and I'm sure that there are players who don't want to share either. Quote
Stripes Posted December 26, 2012 Report Posted December 26, 2012 Well that tough home schedule ought to amount to some primetime action, or at the least some sellouts. Hopefully the team can rise to the challenge. Quote
duus Posted December 26, 2012 Report Posted December 26, 2012 Well that tough home schedule ought to amount to some primetime action, or at the least some sellouts. Hopefully the team can rise to the challenge.Exactly what I was thinking. I could see 7 out of 8 of those home games being seen as good candidates for primetime (Steelers, Ravens, Jets, Patriots, Packers, Vikings, Colts). A good playoff showing will only help, but I am hoping for two night home games, maybe a Thursday Night and a Monday Night. Could be fun! Quote

Owners don't want to spend the coin, tho, and I'm sure that there are players who don't want to share either.I don't understand why the owners didn't bring up the idea of 60 man rosters in the last CBA negotiations in exchange for some concessions they wanted from the players. Sure it would have cost the owners some more coin but these would have likely been minimum salaried players. It's nuts that we have to pickup a guy like Crocker off the street mid season. No other league does it that way. Quote
