combatbengal Posted August 12, 2012 Report Posted August 12, 2012 We still can’t any respect! From the media that is. This is the best that we’ve looked in a first preseason game and all the media wants to talk about is the two QB’s from the Jets! Didn’t we win that game? Other news, Chad Johnson was arrested for head butting his wife! Good lord!Andrew Luck and the Colts looked pretty darn good today! Yes, I know it’s only preseason!!Back to our beloved Bengals: All three phases of the game looked pretty good. We still have a lot of work ahead of us but this is a very good start. Better than years past. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted August 12, 2012 Report Posted August 12, 2012 We still can’t any respect! What? Quote
HoosierCat Posted August 12, 2012 Report Posted August 12, 2012 Didn’t we win that game? No, we didn't. Quote
Stripes Posted August 12, 2012 Report Posted August 12, 2012 The less respect the better. It's not like it's good for anything. Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted August 13, 2012 Report Posted August 13, 2012 If Tebow is involved in a game, that is all you will hear about (and he looked terrible as usual). And frankly, it's preseason, nothing but individual performances get "praised" by anyone, rightfully so. No offense but the constant whining about "lack of respect" gets old every year. They haven't won a playoff game in over 20 years, deal with it until they do I guess. No one remembers a division winner or Wildcard team that gets trounced every time in their first post-season game. Quote
redsbengalsbucks Posted August 13, 2012 Report Posted August 13, 2012 What I'm sick of is the old stand-by, "they have only had three winning seasons in the past 21 seasons" or whatever they decide to cut it off at. I think if any announcer (other than the Bengals announcers) ever states that the Bengals have had 3 playoff appearances in the past 7 season I might faint. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 13, 2012 Report Posted August 13, 2012 I don't care if anyone is talking about the Bengals or not to be honest. What I do think is stupid are those that claim the Bengals won't have back to back winning seasons this year because they haven't had one in forever. Not because of anything that may or may not happen on the field, but just because. Quote

Not because of anything that may or may not happen on the field, but just because.Exactly this. There's no analyzation of stats, breakdown of rosters, talk of injuries ect. The Bengals will simply not have a repeat winning season 'because'. Are players somehow saddled with the legacy of what a team from years ago did or failed to do? This is one of those stats that is only true until it isn't, like the Babe Ruth curse. Quote
skyline Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Other teams getting very little attention so far?GiantsSteelersRavensetc...All have just had relatively quiet offseasons, so there's nothing much to write home about. Yet... Quote
Sea Ray Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 The Steelers have been in the news with Ben's shoulder Quote
HoosierCat Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Anybody notice that the Ravens showcased the no-huddle in their preseason opener? And I recall reading a couple weeks ago about how the Steelers were planning on using a lot more no-huddle as well. I can't help but think that may be aimed at countering the Bengals' strong defensive line rotation. So if you're looking for respect, there's that. Quote
walzav29 Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 I'm not concerned about the respect aspect as much as just some insight and coverage of the team. It was all Tebow and Sanchez. I didn't hear 1 analyzation of the Bengals. That's annoying. Quote

I didn't hear 1 analyzation of the Bengals. That's annoying.Well it was the Jets broadcast, so I suppose that's the main explanation. Depending on the team, sometimes the commentary is more balanced, but it was definitely all-Jets-all-the-time in that particular game. Quote
combatbengal Posted August 15, 2012 Author Report Posted August 15, 2012 We can end up with a winning season, win one or two playoff games and they still won't talk about us. But that's ok, I just want to see us win! I heard today that the Packers are going to win the super bowl and how Benson will help them. Didn't he lose the rock for us an awful lot last season? The media speak so highly of him... Quote

I'm talking about the recap of the game on ESPN and NFL network. It doesn't matter. 2010 we got alot of coverage and it turned out to be a disaster. If the defense keeps improving, look out. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 If we end up with another winning season and get a playoff win or two I would be overjoyed. The media would be all over that like crazy. However, if they weren't, I still wouldn't care. I would be very happy !!! Quote
