Brandon Ghee with solid coverage, matching Binns step for step and nearly picking off the pass. …

--What's wrong with Herron's foot?

--With all the competition at WR and Shipley still admittedly not 100%, I think they should think long and hard before activating him for training camp in August. Once he practices, he's no longer eligible for the 6 week PUP

--As for Ghee it's not so much how many passes he can pick off but do they trust him to stay healthy? If he does that and merely knocks down passes, he can contribute. Marvin will only give players so many years in the training room, be it on IR or sitting out practice. Let's watch for his name to show up on the "not practicing" list. If he continues to practive every day it'll bode well for his chances

Dare we hope?

GOOD DAY FOR GHEE: With all the talk about how many first-round corners the Bengals have, it was one of the non-first round guys who had a good practice. Brandon Ghee had an interception of an Andy Dalton pass early in the session and then later leveled (unintentionally) Donald Lee on a route down the middle. During the first OTA a couple weeks ago, Ghee separated Vidal Hazelton from the ball. Someone might want to reiterate to Ghee that hitting is not allowed.

Ghee is a crazed hitter. For a little guy he brings a lot of weight at impact. And that's part of his problem. I remember his rookie year he was blasting guys right and left, then of course he got a head injury and missed a ton of time. Pick your spots Brandon Ghee!

Sightings of this rare specimen are becoming less rare.

I don't want to get too excited, given his injury history, but hell, all this sounds really good

Given the age of our CB corps, I would *love* for this guy to earn the 3rd or 4th CB spot (and of course make it through a season without serious injury)

Anything good to speak about our CB situation has to be a plus, but i've come to find recently that praise seems to be the only thing handed out, glossing over the poor aspects. It's still early, so i'm not about to go all apesh*t about any of this, but it's just something i've noticed lately.

For what it's worth, i'm rooting for Ghee...

That's pretty much standard training camp hype for every team. Every player is smarter, stronger, faster, etc. Every injury is minor, every offense and defense is improved and there are 32 teams who are going to the Super Bowl.

As for reality, well as you say it's still early. But if you, like me, were looking for some assurance that the injury bug that chewed up our CBs last season was a thing of the past, then camp is off to an inauspicious start. Tate getting dinged has to be seen as a bit of a setback since he was being heavily touted as the new No. 2. Early team drills don't make it sound like the revamped o-line is quite ready for prime time either.

OTOH, the d-line appears to be generating pressure and I haven't heard anything bad (well, really, haven't heard anything at all) about the LBs. Binns and Hawkins seem to be doing well. Sanu's got some good press. Taylor Mays can't cover but we knew that, while Nelson appears in midseason form.

In short, a mixed bag so far. We'll see how it goes.

If you read some of Reedys comments sounds like everyone is struggling so who knows at this point lol! We won't know until preseason starts I'm just hoping Dalton continues to improve and the WR show us something. I did like seeing Andre Smith pancake Dunlap in the oaklahoma drill

Shipley and Clements got back out on the field today, tho they only did individual work and didn't participate in the 11-on-11 drills. Still, good news.

Burfict seems to be getting good reviews, tho he's apparently a bit over-amped.

Thornton tweeted of Hall today that he's had a fast recovery but thinks it will take half the season for him to round back into form.
