It's very easy to look at the Bengals facing the Cardinals and Ravens and say, "They aren't making it into the playoffs", but I don't think it's a foregone conclusion. They do in fact have the ability to beat both of these teams and playing at home helps, regardless of how sh*tty some think the fanbase is, because you can't argue you would rather play those two games on the road in front of their home crowd.

Anyway, it may be a tall task, but I can't remember being so excited seeing a young Bengals team play.

If they fail to win these game, I will still chalk the season up to a great success.

I mean most picked them to be the worst team in football this season.

What bothers me more than the Jets, Ravens and Cardinals are...the Bengals. They just are not a good team right now. I don't think they have it in them to win two straight even though they are winnable games. And if they don't win 'em both then they aren't playoff worthy

I couldn't agree more that if they don't win them both, they aren't playoff worthy, but all I am saying is, they have the ability to in fact win them and i'm excited about the team. Being excited about this teams playoff chance at the end of December was something I certainly didn't see coming at the beginning of the season.

Have they been playing poorly lately ?? Sure, but if they play the way we know they are capable, nothing would be better for the young players moving forward and us fans. I'm hopeful, but again, it's already been a good season.

They just are not a good team right now.

I don't think they are playing any more poorly now than they did earlier in the season. It's our expectations that have changed.

They came out of the gate playing better than we expected. But their wins came mostly against inferior teams, and many of those still required 4th quarter heroics.

They have a lot of learning and growing to do. At this point, they haven't proven that they can win games against similarly talented teams. It'll come. The question is when.

Many of us are hopeful that the time is now. Perhaps it'll have to wait until these young guys have an actual off-season together. Either way... this is a good team, and they should only get better.

I agree that it's fun to play meaningful games in late December. My point is that I'm not concerned with not controlling our fate. All I care about is finishing 10-6 because I think they'll be in if they do and if they don't I'll still tip my cap to them as having had an excellent season

I disagree. I think they were a much better team before the injury bug hit.

I think they were a much better team before the injury bug hit.

Perhaps... but I don't see it.

Scaife, Muckelroy, and Shipley, have either been out all year, or the vast majority of it. Bobbie Williams missed the first 4 games with a suspension, so they're used to life without him. Dunlap came back last week. The secondary was having plenty of lapses before Leon Hall got hurt... against Colt McCoy, Tarvaris Jackson, and Blaine Gabbert.

The Bengals won most of their games against mediocre teams, simply because they had more talent than the opposition. Once the Bengals hit a rough patch in the schedule, they suddenly they don't look as good? From my perspective, they look the same. The difference between early in the season and what we've seen lately has been primarily the level of the competition.

Believe it or not... that win against the Rams was one of the most decisive wins the Bengals have had all season. A 14 point lead with less than 2 minutes in the game? How often have we seen that? Just about every game they have played has been within one score late in the 4th quarter.

The Bengals won 5 in a row, and the positive vibes from winning forced us to forget how ugly most of those games were. Now, with the playoffs in reach, our expectations have changed... but the Bengals haven't. They are the same team, playing at more or less the same level they've played all year.

Cards place LB Casino Ambush on IR.

"Casino Ambush" huh? I kinda like that name. I think I just might steal it for my own. After all, I've been running around this place for years with the same lame-ass name and all I get for my trouble is the occasional gay joke.
