From Lance's blog:

The Bengals today (11/29/2011) announced the following player moves:

* LB Keith Rivers will remain on the team’s Reserve/Non-Football Injury list, and may not be activated to the roster this season. Rivers underwent wrist surgery in July, and today marks the end of a three-week period during which he was eligible for activation.

* DT Cornell Banks was signed to the practice squad. Banks (6-2, 310; Fresno State) is in his rookie NFL season. He entered the NFL with Baltimore as a college free agent on July 28 and was waived on Aug. 27, after playing in two preseason games. He was signed to the Bengals preseason roster on Aug. 31 and played in the preseason finale Sept. 1 vs. Indianapolis, with a tackle-for-loss and a pass defensed. He was waived by the Bengals on Sept. 4.

* LB Bruce Davis was released from the practice squad. Davis, a third-year player, was signed to the practice squad on Nov. 23.

Does anyone know how Rivers actually got hurt? I assume it was done during the lockout because I don't remember hearing anything about him being injured at the end of the season.

No idea, but knowing how the Bengals report injuries, "wrist injury" is probably shorthand for "arm completely ripped off in bear attack."

To my knowledge, how Rivers hurt his wrist was never reported to the public. But, if I recall correctly, it was reported that he basically needed his reconstructive surgery to rebuild his wrist.

Who knows what happened... but whatever it was, it was bad.

Masturbation mishap.

Sounds like the voice of experience talking.

Never forget.

I'll never forget. I'll tell you one thing, my Grandmother's antique wedding dress will never be the same either.

Scout.com reports that the Bengals worked out six players this week.

The Bengals worked out long snappers Christian Yount, who was signed by the Cleveland Browns, and Jake Laptad.

They also worked out former Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety David Sims and C.J. Wilson, who played at Baylor.

The AFC North franchise also worked out former Notre Dame linebacker Brian Smith and former Duke defensive end Ayana Okpokowuruk.

Long snappers?

I haven't noticed any issues with Clark Harris. I guess the Bengals have less reason to show him much loyalty at this point though as compared to Brad St. Louis prior to 2009, if they perceive a problem.

Cleveland cut their LS the other day. He goofed up the snap here the other day and also vs the Rams in a 13-12 loss a few weeks back.

Haven't really noticed anything unusual with Harris. Maybe he's hurt?

The Bengals looked at a punter a few weeks back... even though nothing was wrong with Huber.

Sometimes teams like to get a look at a guy so they have someone to call in the event of an emergency. It's just good practice to plan for emergencies before they occur.

How is it Brandon Ghee keeps showing up on the injury list? Does this guy just have a knack for getting injured while getting out of bed or what?

That was my thought as well. I was just wondering if I'd missed some issue with Harris.

That's listed just after Rich Braham's deep bone bruise (broken leg) and Chris Perry's pulled groin (sports hernia) in Marvin's coach speak medical reference guide.

* Placed G Bobbie Williams on the Reserve/Injured list. Williams suffered a right ankle fracture during yesterday’s game vs. Houston. The 12th-year NFL player has been Cincinnati’s starting RG since joining the Bengals in 2004 as an unrestricted free agent. The ankle injury will end his streak of never having missed a Bengals game to a football-related injury.

* Signed G Otis Hudson to the roster from the Bengals practice squad. Hudson (6-5, 311; Eastern Illinois) is a first-year NFL player. He was on the roster for Games 1-4 this year, but was inactive each week, due in part to a knee injury suffered in preseason. He was waived Oct. 6 and had been on the practice squad since Oct. 7. A fifth-round Bengals draft choice in 2010, he spent his rookie season on the practice squad.

Another thing that never changes no matter the year: the Bengals can never have enough Johnsons.

The Bengals on Tuesday signed linebacker Micah Johnson to the practice squad.

Johnson entered the NFL in 2010 as a college free agent with the N.Y. Giants. He was released prior to training camp and signed Aug. 3, 2010 with Miami. He played in the Dolphins’ 2010 season opener, with one special teams tackle, was released prior to Game 2, and spent time on the Miami and Kansas City practice squads later in the season. He opened the 2011 preseason with Kansas City and was released on Sept. 3.

The signing marks his first NFL assignment during the 2011 regular season.
